this is odd. i cannot get more than 15 fps jsut walking around and it drops to roughly 5-9 when in combat.  it doesnt mater what graphics settings i am set at and i have a very nice machine

quad core i7 @ 2.67ghz
9gigs of ddr3 ram @ 1600
dual ati hd4850 -512mb
windows vista 64bit version

there is no reason this game shouldnt run on max. i can run crysis in dx10 on extreme settigns and get a smooth 30fps during firefight, 50 if i run it in dx9.

things i have tried-

i have changed ingame settings ranging from lowest resolution and effects to highest. with minimal fps gain.
modded the bioengine.ini to gain performance tweeks like  changing  the busepostprocessing to FALSE. i run in admin mode, so that is not possibly a problem. updated and even roled back my video drivers. changed around my settings within ati catalyst, most notably the antialiasing since the ut3 engine doesnt use it.

seriously.. this is a very good machine and there is no reason it shoudltn run this game at the caped fps, hell i run hl2 and l4d at around 200fps... if anyone has any suggestions i am all ears. thank you

Did you try lowering the AA level? That kills my 4890s after 8x on this game.

put it to application managed, which should kill it completely considering the game engine does not support AA

Sounds like a Vsync issue with no triple buffering enable.

Don't know about ATI anymore, but if you can select to enable Vsync on with Triple Buffering on as well that should remedy it.

In Nvidia if you have Vsync on but no Triple buffering, the game will run half of your monitor refresh rate.

You should be able to run the game around 60fps easy with that set up,I have older set up then you and I can run the game between 50 to 60(which is capped @ 62 by the game).

Try this tweak guide link:

Agreed, sounds like V-sync or turn off CrossFire. To my knowledge this game doesn't work well on dual video cards.

well i had tried the vsync option but it did nothing. but i redid the AA controls within catalyst ai again. and it fixed it. i guess for some reason the first tiem i put it to application managed it didt save the setting. and forcing anti-aliasing on a engine that doesnt knwo what to do withit will make it slow down . i messed withthe ini file again and removed the cap jsut to see and im running at an average of 100fps, {no visual difference with the uncaped fps obviously, but its nice to know it wasn't my machine.}

so yeah if you have an ati card and anything with this game engine is runnign like ****. make sure catalyst ai has anti-aliasing as application managed.

thanks for the help though those that offered help
