I bought ME1 and 2 through Steam some time ago and having just finished ME1 I start up ME2 only to discover that A, my deluxe edition didn't actually include most of the DLC and B, ME2 can't find my ME1 character for import. Where do I need to copy the ME1 character files to so that ME2 can find it properly?

1) which DLC are you missing?

2) you need to run the ME2 Configuration utility (Mass Effect 2 Launcher in Steam), then tell it where to look for the ME1 saves.

I looked up a video for the character import. Thanks :)

As for DLC, looks like I'm missing Kasumi, Shadow Broker, Genisis, and Arrival. I do have some stuff, mostly weapons but also the Normandy Crash Site, Firewalker, and Zaeed, which is weird cause they aren't listed in the deluxe edition on the steam store page. I can't imagine my owning those on xbox also unlocked them for PC, considering I had all the DLC on 360. I no longer have my 360, haven't had it in years, but decided to replay the trilogy so bought 1 and 2 for PC on steam. Will get 3 later through origin since it isn't on steam.

Is the deluxe edition supposed to include any other DLC in the first place? I thought it only came with the weapons and armor. It's not one of those GOTY compilations.

Normandy Crash Site. Zaeed, and Firewalker are free to all new purchasers.

Ah that explains it. And no, the Deluxe Edition does not include anything other than weapons. I saw Deluxe Edition and assumed it included all DLC. I think that was their intent. I have no real interest in the weapon or armor packs and no interest at all in the soundtrack or art book.

I believe the Steam deluxe version includes the Cerberus Network dlc thingie, which I believe includes Zaeed, Normandy Crash site & Firewalker.

The Deluxe edition existed before the DLCs were released. It wasn't a deliberate attempt to fool you, and the Steam page describes it quite accurately.

Try to register you ME2 Steam key in Origin. This will let you see what DLC you actually have.
