Dorian. The other game is required to have Dorian in it, and I'll be fine.

If it were up to me, I would have:
Warriors
- A female Dalish elf who idolises the Emerald Knights and models herself on them. We haven't had an elven warrior in previous games, and if the truth about elven history is going to start spreading I really think we should get a Dalish reaction to it. Let her be the heterosexual romance option, so the people who want to play a male elf and romance a female elf can get their wish at last.
- A male dwarf. Member of the Tevinter Ambassadoria? Rock-Knocker from Kal-Sharock? Another Orzammar exile? I'm not fussy, just give him an axe, a shield, a magnificent beard and make him a romance option.
- A male human Nevarran dragon hunter! Perhaps one of Cassandra's many, many cousins.
Mages
- Calpernia. She can be alive no matter what happens in Inquisition, and it would be interesting to see a character go from supporting villain to companion. She has a fascinating perspective on Tevinter society, assuming that's where we are going.
- Maevaris Tilani. Appearing in the epilogues has to be a good sign, right?
- An ex-Sarebaas. I guess he should be male so we don't have all-lady mages in my hypothetical DA4.
Rogues
- Scout Lace Harding, as the Inquisition's representative and our most direct link with DAI. And a romance. (Yes, I want two dwarf romances. We'll have more than fifteen years of neglect to make up for by that point!)
- A Fog Warrior. I know they have 'warrior' in the name, but I'm picturing someone who specialises in stealth kills and guerrilla warfare in the jungles of Seheron.
- ... and since we've had a Grey Warden warrior companion (Alistair) and a Grey Warden mage companion (Anders) it must be time for a Grey Warden rogue companion. Someone actually from the Anderfells, preferably, since we know so little about them and their culture beyond 'it's desolate and they're really keen on Wardens'. (Anders was transplanted to Ferelden at an early age.)

I saw someone with an interesting idea along that vein: what if we had the option of being a double agent? Since a double agent has to act similar to everyone else to maintain their cover, the story points could be similar. It would be fun to be the person who's hiding a big secret, after being on the receiving end so many times.

Warriors
Valta: She was cool, and I'm eager to know more about the Sha-Brytol, having one of them not mad and as companion would be perfect, we need the best of the best to kill Solas after all.
A Nevarran Dragon Hunter: Yup, I second that motion, rather than being related to Cassandra, I would prefer he is some descendant of the hunter who used the Blood Dragon Armor, we need to met an actuall Nevarran, I know Cassandra is nevarran, but her behaviour is different since she was kept away from the city and later she joined to the Seekers, so, I think this hunter would be more nevarran than her.
Tamar: I think the multiplayer characters deserve some development as well, the only one on have a line in the main game was Zither, Tamar would have an interesting party banter with the hunter, she could be enjoying her freedom as far as she can from the southern Chantry.
Mages
An Avvar augur: Despite being called barbarians, Avvars let the normal people as ignorant fools, their mages have a good connection with the Fade and augurs are the most experienced of all, Movran's clan can be exiled to Tevinter, so I see an Avvar Augur happening.
A Tevinter Magister: One able to use Blood Magic, slaves or not, he has to be a veteran on the war against the Qunari but with some struggles with the rest of the magisters.
Yavana: She has to have a backup plan, she has more hostile visitors than Flemeth, we always need a smarty on the party, Morrigan won't happen again and Solas is mad and is posed as main villain, Yavana is just perfect, she has more knowledge and power than Morrigan, such things may be handy against Solas, and, Antiva is not far from Tevinter, beside, I miss the shapeshifting spec since Origins and she is the perfect excuse to bring it back.
Rogues
A Qunari Grey Warden: I don't remember any reason of why they could not join to the Order, so, a female Tal-Vashoth skilled with the bow that joined the Wardens in order to flee from the Qun, she could use a blue vitaar that would match with the armor.
A Former Elven Slave: Not a Viddathari, but a cunning slave that took advantage of the Qunari attacks and the struggles within the Imperium to rise as a rebel leader that wants to free slaves without falling in the Qun.
An Arvaard: They have experience on submitting and controlling the Saarebas, so he would be more effective than an Imperial Templar, who pretty much are rather a jest to keep mages in charge.
Finally, it could sound stupid or ambitious, but I think we should have huge companions we've already got an Ogre on Darkspawn Chronicles and I certainly didn't found it unbalanced, I don't think we could have an Ogre because it is a darkspawn, but if I am permitted to post my ideas then my suggestions would be:
Steel Golem/Rock Wraith (Giant Warrior): Both are huge, have a high resistance to damage and are gods when it comes to crush the darkspawn, any of them would be fine.
A Saarath (Giant Mage): Many people want a Saarebas, I say, why stop there? We could have a huge Saarebas doped in Lyrium, if we get the Arvaard, then it wouldn't be a problem.
Wyvern(Giant Rogue): Hell will freeze before Bioware allows me to have a Dragon pet without killing it, but Wyverns are a good option, they are faster, smaller and have poison, I think they could fit as rogues.

Mages: Maevaris Tilani, Calpernia, Dorian. No-brainer--fabulous Tevinter funtimes.
Rogues: Scout Lace Harding, Charade, an Orlesian harlequin
Warriors: an Avvar tribesman (maybe related to the goat-thrower you send north), Ser Michel de Chevin, a Tevinter templar

Mages: I'd take a sinister male tevinter blood mage, a fem qunari mage, and maybe a dwarf dude awakened to magic with a glorious dwarven beard of legend.
Rouge: Harding as archer(the connection to inq), An orleasian harlequin, a sly antivan duelist(single sword with dirty fighting)
Warrior: Unarmed Silent sister, Avvar warrior either with a giant club or bring back duel sword weilding(they are big enough to handle it) and maybe an ancient arcane warrior style elven lady. With sword and shield enhanced by magic

Is it bad that the one thing that I really want is a female qunari (mage preferably) that I can romance as a female? I am nothing if not predictable.
As a side note, if we are truly going to Tevinter for the next game and will act as an agent of the Inquisition, I hope the people we answer to are primarily Dorian and Maevaris. I definitely want to see more of them.
Mages:
Female Qunari. Be she Saarebas, ex-Saarebas/tal-vashoth, or vashoth, I'm down. Though, narratively, having a true saarebas companion seems unlikely. Personally, I would like to learn more about (tal-) vashoth culture and this could be a good way to glean some insight.
Blood mage, definitely. I'm thinking a Laetan who wants to help their family rise to a more comfortable position in Tevinter Society. Maybe one or both of their parents had sold themselves into Slavery for a time. Completely unapologetic about their use of blood magic.
Rogues:
An Elven servant. Generally respected, but acts similarly to Briala in how they have a network of Elven spies who are skilled in assassination. They could be a great asset or maybe even break that streak of the (apostate) mages always being the dodgy ones in the party.
Warriors:
A dwarf tied to the lyrium trade.
A human of the Soporati who used to/still works within Tevinter's military ranks or perhaps as a Templar.
---
An Avvar would be great as well, any class.

Scout Harding is a must have. She is awesome.
And...id like to see the Tempest trainer Kihm. I think he would be a fun character. Sort of like a chaotic Zaeed Massani
Also, instead of Tevinter Templars (who don't use lyrium) for a specialisation that specialises in combatting mages, how about the Magekiller as an option? Maybe Marius from the upcoming comic series could be a companion and teach you his trade.
For a mage companion, i think Maevaris would make an excellent companion.

And of course, Calpernia. I'd like to see her working together with Dorian in some capacity (I love her to bits. She freed both human and elven slaves, so..
An Antivan NOBLE (thank you Otranto for making me intrigued, LoL) and please make him a LI

I only have 3 requests:
1. TRANQUIL!
I was hoping DAI would have a tranquil party member, but we didn't get it. I want to have the choice to reverse their right of tranquility or leave them as is with dramatic/tragic/angsty results. Of course this character would have to be an LI because drama/tragedy/angst=romance gold. I'm not sure what they'd do in combat while tranquil, but Bioware can figure that out...maybe the PC can just order them to do whatever (ethical dilemma alert!).
2. Avaar archer RANGER rogue
Mostly this is because I really want them to bring back the ranger specialization, and I think it would make perfect sense for an Avaar to be able to summon an animal ally.
3. Tevinter blood mage
I'd love a blood mage that isn't using blood magic sparingly as a means to an end but because they are twisted and evil. We've had a good Tevinter mage; it's time for a naughty one.

Definitely Harding, I bet she's the one who gets the ball rolling in the north and your main contact with the Inquisitor.
A Tevinter Templar just to see the difference between them and their Southern brothers. Maybe you can have a pivotal moment where you decide if they should take lyrium or not.
A Soproati or a Leatan to see what the lower class people are like compared to Dorian and the upper class. Maybe both to see what the social class dynamic is like. I'd like it if was Calpernia who was the Laetan and the added bonus of a former enemy now turned ally.
A Grey Warden from Weisshaupt cause people say the people from the Anderfels and especially Grey Wardens from Weisshaupt are hardcore. And Weisshaupt is on that map you see the Inquisitor stab.
A Fog Warrior for their perspective on their homeland being torn apart by the fighting.
Maybe Tallis for her perspective on the Qun and Tevinter and for the tolken "bad guy" teammate (though Calpernia could fill that role). Maybe you can push her into embracing the Qun or finding her own path (though that might be too similar to Iron Bull)?

Talking of DA2 likable characters, what about Athenril? Oh, why the hell I couldn't replace Merill with her.

She would've been interesting. Tho I liked Merrill. ![]()
Looked at Weekes' twitter today, and now I'm wondering about Cillian... Would be a great way to have an AW teacher on the team. Also my favorite MP char! (But now I'm really suspicious about his alliances, haha..... Did Solas offer better ham than the Inquisition?

As for companions I'd like to see:
Qunari female Saraabas (Battlemage) who is a trophy slave to the Magister and is the one who helps us escape.
Kal-Sharok male Dwarf who trades with Tevinter as another initial companion (Champion/Weapon & Shield)
Dailish male Hunter who is friends with the dwarf as the last initial companion (Ranger/Archery)
Human male Tevinter Mage with a very dark sence of humour (Blood Mage)
Human female Fog Warrior who was part of the tribe Fenris stayed with for a time (Berserker/Dual One-Handed Weapons)
Human male Grey Warden Rogue from Anderfield who was once part of the Crows but is now repentant (Assassin/Dual Daggers)
Elven female Mage Slave who can either be kept as a slave or released from sevitude (Spirit Healer)
Nevarran human male Dragon Hunter who is fascinated by Qunari's connection with Dragons (Reaver/Two-Handed Weapons)
And finally Scout Harding as the Inquisitor's representative (Duelist, Shadow or Artificer?/Archery)
