"I expect you have questions." Too right except as usual I never get to ask the ones I really want. Solas controls the direct he wants you to take and then when he is through, you are dismissed. That still leaves me with a lot of unanswered questions but here a three to be going along with (topics rather than individual questions as you will see).
One: Are you the Maker? Does the Maker even exist? Was it you talking to Andraste from the Fade. Was Shartan one of your agents?
I know we have been told in the past that the Maker will never be confirmed or not but seriously, Solas' version of the state of creation before he made the Veil, the nature of the gods, etc, plus what is said in WoT2 about Andraste is SO at variance with what he have been told by the Chantry that I seriously cannot believe that any what the Chant says about the matter is anything other than an invention. We have been stuck all game (often against our will) with the title of Herald of Andraste and if we continue with the Inquisition it is as the Divine's peace keeping force. Any faith my characters might have had in the historical part of the Chant was pretty much undermined already but the latest revelations have pretty much finished any residual belief that still existed. Still it would be nice to have it confirmed what exactly went on back then.
Two: What caused the Blight? Why are you so anti-Grey Wardens? What is your connection to the old gods? The only bit of the Chant that seems to be true is the part about the Magister invading the Golden City but it is clear that their physical corruption was not simply the curse of the Maker. Solas was nearly beside himself about the Grey Warden plan that had nothing to do with the corruption/enslavement of spirits. He didn't really need to be so frantic about urging me to stop the creation of a demon army; I think everyone (apart from Erimond and the Wardens) acknowledged that was a really bad idea. Solas also really wanted the Grey Wardens banished. Does he suspect they might hold the key to stopping him?
Three: (This is the main one). What makes you think your plan is going to work out any better this time round for the elves? As someone who plays elves this is really close to my heart. My Inquisitor had been working his backside off to improve the lot of elves and the reputation of him as a Dalish. He was incensed at the suppression of the truth about Ameridan, just as he was about the truth of Shartan (assuming we even know the full story). However, as a non mage, he is not entirely sure that destroying the current world is going to make a future idyll for his people. Will it not destroy them too? In fact he is still seething over Abelas' words "You are not of my People". So is Solas really trying to help the elves or simply trying to restore the fortunes of the remnant, like Abelas, who still exist from his time. The big fear is that even if we succeed in stopping Solas, the ordinary elves will suffer from the backlash against his actions. Even if Solas doesn't give a stuff about the ordinary elves, how can he be sure he can control the outcome? He couldn't before. Nor apparently did he suspect in advance that Corypheus could have mastered the trick of "immortality", which is odd when you think about it because Mythal certainly knew, which is why Flemeth/Morrigan wanted you to save Urthemiel's soul and the Grey Wardens had pretty much figured it out, yet Solas for all his "wisdom" and his travels through the Fade had no idea. Finally, if you do Hushed Whipser, you have seen a vision of the future with the Veil removed. It did not look good for anyone, elf or otherwise. At the time Solas seemed anxious to try and establish if what you had seen was real. He even disapproved if you directed him to Dorian for confirmation. I don't think he wanted to acknowledge what you had seen as the truth because it would undermine his resolve to continue with his plan.
This last question is the reason why saying "I'm going to prove you wrong" (and try and redeem him) seemed so pointless. I already had many examples and arguments to prove him wrong but I doubt he wanted to hear them. Solas means Pride. He is called that for a reason. I'm pretty sure that nothing we do or say in the future is going to change his mind.
