Any idea when that will be? Have there been any talk of the development of the game?
ME4 will release next summer (...?), so we might see DA4 winter 2017 maybe? Or summer 2017?

I don't think we'll be getting it anytime soon. The best we can hope for is the reveal/announcement at the next E3, and probably 2-3 years more to go from there, so I'd say somewhere in 2018. I don't want them to rush it either, that's why I'd give them at least 3-4 years to make the game.

Don´t you think the development will be faster now that they know how the engine works better?
The engine still needs a lot of work (I'm looking at you, tac cam, where the camera has to take the stairs...) to fully tailor it for the needs of a role-playing game, plus additional tweaks and fixes, improved lighting and rendering, better PC optimization, DX12 support are always expected.
And the engine is not the only thing that matters during development. The engine used in DA2 was largely the same used in DAO, the game was still lacking in many aspects, because the devs had little over two years to finish their game, and that resulted in many shortcuts during developement (mainly, the re-used and not so well crafted areas).

Possibly, but we also have to consider that BioWare has a Super Sekrit IP that David Gaider, Mary Kirby and others are currently writing. I think it's probable that it will be the game that releases in 2017, while Dragon Age 4 is held over until 2018.
Fall 2017 the earliest.
Fall 2018 the latest.
Spring 2018 the likeliest.
Already?
~11/16 without delay; 05/17 with delay: Mass Effect Andromeda
~11/17 without delay; 05/18 with delay: New IP
~11/18: Dragon Age IV
Just my own personal guesses. It's going to be some time, regardless. Most of Inquisition's staff has been scattered, largely toward the new IP, and it's going to be at least another year or so before Mike, Mark, and Patrick can even confirm there will be a DA4 -- right now they're skittish as can be.
I understand the pause it gives you to think that it would be even more time between DAI and DA4 than it was from DA2 to DAI. That's a reasonable response. Unfortunately, I suspect it will be the case. The fact is, the new IP seems likelier to launch first, and although BioWare is bigger than it used to be, spreading folks about between three separate franchises is tough going. I anticipate that DA4 will be in vertical slice/narrative concepts mode for quite some time, and even then, my estimations effectively suggest that BioWare will soon be aiming toward an annual release pattern for the remainder of this so-called console generation... so it could even be said that I'm being optimistic. Some folks are thinking 2019 or DA4.
This is...frustrating.
I rather have DA4 than new IP. (altough new IP is exciting if its something similar to DA and ME)
New IP = Not medieval not interesting
skip/trash it
focus on DA4
kkthxbye
I'm not exactly excited about the new IP right now, either, but I think (even as huge DA fans) it's a bit disingenuous of us to kinda trash it so harshly when we know literally nothing about it whatsoever. Games in contemporary settings rarely click for me, but BioWare (with a bulk of the Mass Effect Trilogy team, and David Gaider too) might pull it off.
I'll decide how i feel about the new IP when we actually know anything about it.
But DA4 is probably what I'm most excited about. I want them to take their time, but not TOO much time. But they aren't going to release games too close together, and as others have said, they have ME:A and [?] to release.
It's not just engine stuff either. Sure they could pump out a game really quickly if they wanted, but it won't be anywhere near as good as if they spend some time. Keep in mind that the more time they spend developing, the more stuff they can include in the final game. Before DAI was delayed, there was no tac cam and no racial choices besides human. Time matters.
Honestly, I don't care when DA4 is released, if we can play as the Hero of Ferelden again, or have him as our companion. Or playing as his son, that would also be nice. ![]()

In case you haven't been paying attention, BioWare never has the same player character for a different DA episode. Go ahead and get that out of your system already, you are just setting yourself up for disappointment otherwise.

It's not gonna happen.
Not that I want it to, personally, but still. They've said they want a new protagonist each time (I think it's for the best).
I hope they don't completely rehaul everything like they did from DA:O to DA2 and just make a few improvements and bug fixes while focusing on the story and sidequests.
Hopefully, Trespasser is proof they are doing just that. The alternate skill evolutions need to carry over to the next game. They are too good an idea to keep to a DLC.
I do hope the new IP is a medieval-fantasy RPG similar to other titles like BG and DA series.
Do we know anything of the new IP?
Very little. There's a thread that summarises everything that we know, which is very little.
It's very unlikely that they'll make another Medieval fantasy, though, since they already have the Dragon Age series for that, just as it's unlikely to be a space opera when Mass Effect exists. It could be almost anything except those two genres, though.
You'd imagine it'd be 2/3 years. Late 2017, early 2018 would be nice
They've tossed around the phrase "very contemporary" a few times and the screenshots look contemporary-esque.
It'll be Fall '18 at the earliest (sadly). I also seriously doubt they will reveal any information about DA4 at all, until EA (or another event) in 2017. Next years events for Bioware will focus on the new IP and ME:A. New IP (or NIP for short
has absolutely no connection to anything existing (I assume) so they really need to sell it at these events to build up hype for it, ME:A is coming out either next year or the spring after so it only has next summers events. Whereas DA4 has all the carryover from the rest of DA so its reveal can wait for longer.
I am basing this information off the fact that Bioware still moves its teams around for each release (meaning they don't have enough employees to support fully independent development of 3 different IPs, which is good in my opinion). So until NIP ships it is fairly unlikely that BioWare will have the dev resources to really focus on DA4.
Kinda sucks having to go for 2 years without any info on DA4 at all, but the world is what it is.

If they want the next game to be perfect well...
1 - They know people loved DAO and still love
2 - They know what people was disappointed in DA2 with and that people usually like Legacy DLC for being a huge improvement over base game
3 - They know what people was disappointed in DAI with and that people usually like Trespasser DLC for being a huge improvement over base game
Trespasser proved they listen to the fans and know exactly what we want and like. So now it is only a matter of knowing if they are going to do it or keep the BDSM leash of pain and pleasure on us =(
My opinion is: Use Trespasser as base and multiply the size for 10, done we have an amazing game!
Somehow I think it will go like that because we know nothing of the cities of the north so it is highly probable that the game main "base" is going to be in a city (or cities) and then we will have huge maps just like Inquisition. Also, since we know little of the region it is opportunity for us to have lots of lore and true content quests so I guess we can have less filler/fetch quests. DAI had problems because they overcompensated for DA2 and were too greedy towards Skyrim, now they have a lot of fan feedback and Skyrim is gone so we can hope for the best! (And the trend now is Witcher 3, so if they go after the trend now it would hurt a lot less)

I suggested that idea ages ago, I swear (though I never thought they'd be toggles, just mutually exclusive upgrades), and I really do think it works well. Though I still want more abilities overall and less passives (not fluff though, and not tons more).

I don't think it will be.
But I do think it's worth saying that I'd love one, mostly because there just aren't that many. If you like sci-fi, there's tons of stuff...fantasy seems like a harder sell these days. There are big franchises out there like Dragon Age and the Elder Scrolls and Fable...but that's pretty much it for fantasy RPG's. And I don't count MMO's.
