I don't think it will be.

But I do think it's worth saying that I'd love one, mostly because there just aren't that many. If you like sci-fi, there's tons of stuff...fantasy seems like a harder sell these days. There are big franchises out there like Dragon Age and the Elder Scrolls and Fable...but that's pretty much it for fantasy RPG's. And I don't count MMO's.

IMO, the big problem is that developers (in this case, RPG devs) never stray too far from the traditional fantasy tropes. Every fantasy IP has to have humans, elves, and dwarves. Thief/mage/warrior classes. Feudal societies and Medieval European class structures. The Qunari are the first new player race I can remember in a fantasy setting in a long time.

Just once, I would like to see a Fantasy IP featuring a world that is not based on Kings/(J)arls/nobles/commoners hierarchy. Or heaven forbid, a fantasy setting that can show a sliver of technological progress with its lore. As much as I love the Dragon Age IP, I get the feeling that the technology from the Exalted or Blessed Age is roughly the same as that of the current Age. Most of these fantasy worlds are incredibly static in this respect.

I'm also kind of meh. I don't like Mass Effect because it's futuristic. Maybe a horror would work for me but idk.

Heh, well, space opera is actually my lifeblood. But I've really come around toward fantasy this past several years. Dragon Age, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Wheel of Time -- I'm finding I love them all, and I've always had a soft spot for The Lord of the Rings, too. I've seen the fantasy light!

All I know in order for it to be modern, it's going to have a pretty epic storyline, which will almost have to include some form of fantasy. It can't just be realism, or we'd be playing the Sims. Even that game has fantasy elements. I'm just trying to figure out what genre besides Fantasy/Futuristic would lend itself to the kind of storytelling/companion-character based game Bioware tends to make.

I'd still like horror. :)

I'm waiting for DA4 and looking forward to it. This last DLC for DA3 was really nice.
