Now that we know Solas' plan, and that he planned on Corypheus dying using the Orb of Fen'Harel before he would swoop in and take it himself and use it to enter the Fade and tear down the veil, effectively killing everyone, isn't just a bit ironic?

I mean, Corypheus masters the Orb and learns the key to using it and the Inquisitor accidentally stole the anchor.

So, essentially, Corypheus becoming a threat to the world and opening the Breach effectively ended up being the key event to saving it because otherwise Solas would have been able to move completely undetected as no one would be looking for an elf who wasn't even at the Conclave as a guilty party (as per Solas' codex when he joins the Inquisition.)

Corypheus helped save the world from the Dread Wolf, even as he acted to destabalize it and rule it in his attempts to become a god.

The even bigger irony is...the world survived because Corypheus went to the Golden City and got tainted in a special way.

Because Solas says "I would never have guessed a Tevinter mage could have found the secret of effective immortality" (the ancient elves could die , they just didn't die of old age).

So yeah...thanks you good old lunatic Cory , you did well , you blighted unsung hero , you.

So the issue here is that Solas simply didn't know about Corypheus' ability to body surf?

The biggest irony of all is playing Inquisition as an elf.

"My whole life is a lie." A sentence I often repeated aloud while playing Tresspasser. (annoying my boyfriend on several occassions...)

Feeling sorry for unsung hero Corypheus didn´t even enter my mind. I was too preoccupied feeling sorry for myself.

Also explains why Solas hates the Wardens, they are an easy way to respawn close, now, we need another Magister and make sure it doesn't invest its power on a pet.

It's this that makes it almost impossible for me to play as an elf. I don't think any of the endings in Trespasser seem as though they'd work for my character.

Instead of fighting to reclaim a lost past my Lavellan is now fighting to build a new future.  Providing her boyfriend doesn't destory the world first.

Nah, that's not the real irony.

The real irony is that Corypheus could have died, and the Inquisitor would still have had the anchor. Thus rendering Solas's plan of high-tailing it into the Fade (much like Corypheus) moot.

Corypheus's only contribution to foiling Solas was making away with the Orb. Which it's not clear if Solas could have gotten anyway, because Leliana and Casandra's forces were right in the area to secure the site before the Inquisitor popped out anyway.

Playing elf is pretty cool. But I love irony and enjoy conflict immensely.

Corypheus helped save the world from the Dread Wolf, even as he acted to destabalize it and rule it in his attempts to become a god.

And the Dread Wolf helped save the world from Corypheus by aligning with the Inquisition to stop him.

Pretty significant since Corypheus would have used the orb to tear open the whole sky, which would have twisted and traumatized all Fade spirits into destructive demons and letting them loose upon all mortals in the world, likely released the seal, tyrannical elvhen pantheon, and turned the whole world into Ancient Tevinter 2.0 (with mass imprisonment, cold-blooded torture, blood sacrifices, demon-binding, red-lyrium harvested from people's bodies, etc).

Funny how things come around.

No, the real irony is that having saved the world by accident from Corypheus, who accidentally stopped Solas' original plan because apparently Solas missed that important bit of information about darkspawn leaders when he was dreaming in the Fade, we now have to do the whole thing over again because Solas is following Plan B that also results in the current world dissolving into a fiery chaos.

I play elves, modern elves that is, who totally picked up on the fact that Solas, like Abelas refers to me as though I am not one of them and basically confirms that if his plan comes together I will die along with the rest of my friends and relatives, along with the rest of creation, just so he can bring back his version.    We are not amused.

Neither Corypheus nor Solas were members, though I wouldn't put it past Vivienne to follow in their footsteps eventually.

Unfortunately, I read the sequel of that book first, which put me off the author, but from the short description I read, it does not appear as if they ended up as antagonists as Solas and Lavellan will, most likely.

After Corypheus, Hakkon and now Solas, atheism in Thedas is looking more and more attractive.

I'm talking about Caine's Law, not Blade of Tyshalle. They were antagonists.
