Even though I have issues with the Inquisitor's story, I'm remarkably satisfied with Hawke's return to Kirkwall with Varric. After all these years of struggle and hardship, Hawke finally won. Mine, at least, will be able to fix her city, live with Merrill again, and get the satisfaction of seeing the Circles freed.

Personally going back to Kirkwall isn't something my Hawke would have wanted, so i wasn't overjoyed at the slide.

Suppose having to headcanon that it is a temporary gig to help Varric before he heads off elsewhere with Izzy.

At least he hasn't been murdered or locked up in whatever nonsense is going on at weisshaupt.

I'm more pleased about what I read: that Varric apparently sets up a trade agreement with the governing Clan Lavellan of Wycome, giving them more political power. My Hawke made the ultimate sacrifice, but at least Varric filled the void to save Kirkwall and help the People.

This isn't something I thought I would ever say, but it's probably a good thing my Hawke is dead.  He spent years trying to get out of Kirkwall, it would've been weird to see him going back.  (I'm just going to headcanon that whatever notion of him is left, is some spirity hawk that watches over Fenris.)

That Hawke can come back from Weisshaupt does make me feel a little better for Alistair's chances of getting back from there alive.

I loved that. :D

I'm kinda disappointed a dead Hawke didn't even get a mention. I'd think Varric would have done something in their memory, or something...

I'm still surprised Hawke didn't get his/her head cut off for their part (unwitting or not) in the mage rebellion, if they went that route. I mean... I'm glad that didn't happen, but still.

My Hawke spends his days with Fenris and Varric and Aveline, and apparently Varric gave Inky an estate so Adaar and Sera are moving in next door to Hawke and they're gonna be the greatest/worst neighbors ever.

Given all the lore about Kirkwall being a complete hellhole, and all the horror that is about to break loose due to Solas and the qunari, I doubt my Inquisitor would ever want to or have time to live in some fancy house there. It's a kind gesture from Varric, a "you have a place in my life" that I do appreciate because I'm big on PCs and NPCs remaining friends and in touch or together. So I guess my Inquisitor would have to visit for that alone, but the fancy house can serve as a place for refugees, invalid veterans and others who have nowhere to go. Or as a free hospital, or something else to remind people that the Inquisition stands for those in need no matter what the powdered bigwigs say.

In my only finished Trespasser playthrough Hawke stayed in the Fade. It was a wrong Hawke anyway. And my Inquisitor, although she got the house and THE KEY from Varric, won't move to Kirkwall, because she's romancing Cullen and he most probably doesn't want to return there. But she'll visit the city at least once to try that KEY! And if she'll ever get angry at Varric, she can always sell THE KEY to the Prince of Starkhaven. :D

In my Lavellan playthrough, Hawke returned, it will be nice to see them as neighbours. They both have the 'diplomatic' personality, so they'll get along well.

But I'm shallow and want a fancy house. :(

Even if it is on top of the Hellmouth.

I'm glad Hawke is at least alive after the rather ominous end to the main game.    My Lavellan is definitely going to pay them a visit because he has a feeling that Fenris is going to be really interested in tracking down the ancient elven mage who wants to destroy the world to restore his People, which contrary to what the stupid elves going to join him think, doesn't include them.    Do you suppose Solas could survive being fisted by Fenris?     Will also be calling in my city elf Warden and Morrigan.   Hoping that Flemeth did have a contingency plan which involved her daughter.   Also search our Zevran because I doubt he will be thrilled about what Solas intends to do.   We will be the elven cell charged with seeking him out.    Since we are now a wholly independent group dedicated to stopping Solas at all costs, I reckon between my three heroes (two of them elves) and their associated friends, plus Sera and her Red Jennies of course, we have a fighting chance.   Honestly I never thought I'd end up agreeing with Sera that Solas was too elfy but she was right.    Hoping Varric can come up with something to fix my arm, but failing that I shall just have to retrain from archer to one handed assassin (luckily I did take the spec).      Think I might call us the "Shadow company".

Nearly forgot Feynriel.   Ask Dorian (my lover) to seek him out in Tevinter.    Need to get that Dreamer on side.    Bet Solas doesn't know about him.

I'm really not amused with my Hawke losing her throne of Viscount, after everything she did trying to save that hellmouth of a city, just so the writers could give Varric something to do.

But fine; be as it may, she still has Starkhaven to rule with Sebastian, so Kirkwall can go finally sink back into the ocean under Varric's lazy, irresponsible rule. That shthole was beyond saving, anyway.

Do they actually give a reason for Hawke not becoming Viscount again? Does Varric say anything about it?

Noooooope. In the main campaign all Hawke said about disappearing from Kirkwall was that Red Templars had been harrassing her. In Trespasser, all Varric said was that he was Viscount now, because reasons. Whatever else happened in the background that had Hawke deposed from or abdicating the throne, and Varric just taking it like that, is anyone's guess.

I never got a Hawke slide, even though he lived. During the DLC Varric mentions the Wardens and that he imagined the place was going to end up getting blown up by Hawke, but there was no ending slide.

Hopefully Anders (romanced & alive) will finally be at peace with my Hawke at his side, since the Inquisitor helped making a better world for them. I figure Justice calmed these past few years, but the both of them still feel tormented by their past.

the local nobility elected Varric instead of reelecting Hawke

Ooh not sure bout that, most stay in the Fade. I think my Hawkes might be happier with you. :P
