Noooooooo

But I'm shallow and want a fancy house.
Even if it is on top of the Hellmouth.
I wonder which house in Hightown Varric gave the Inquisitor?
Hopefully, not the haunted one that used to belong to his brother..

Maybe the old mansion Fenris used to live in. Probably still missing half the roofing, and full of rotten corpses everywhere.

Beautiful!
Thank you. I'm still reeling from how vehemently Trespasser seems to want to tear down everything good the Inquisitor and the Inquisition ever accomplished or tried to build (and I didn't even play the DLC, first-hand experience would have hit even harder). I want them to have some positive legacy for the people who most need it, damnit.

Aw. Well, you'll still give employ and protection to guards and servants, so there's that. And if the hellhole gets to you, you can play with the harbor chains for stress relief.
I'm really not amused with my Hawke losing her throne of Viscount, after everything she did trying to save that hellmouth of a city, just so the writers could give Varric something to do.
He is a weird choice for a ruler of anything, isn't he? This is the guy who deliberately and persistently snubs the ruler of a neighbour city as well as the Merchants' Guild, despite being a member (what's his beef with them anyway?). And he flat-out told Vivienne that he doesn't want all the power-play that she enjoys so much. He may accept this out of loyalty for the city he clearly loves, but he needs to step up his game.

Well, you can start the Dalish and the Andrastians onto the path of reconciliation in a few pleasant ways, and most of the Inquisition's work wasn't building a legacy so much as just trying to stop catastrophes; every one prevented is good work that the Inquisition can be credited for doing.

I too am glad hawke is alove and can finally be reunited with merril. And since aveline is still the guard captain, it will be like old times...only not horrible.
Though of course this does mean that while hawke was at weisshaupy, he inadvertantly released a bunch of blight griffons or something. he never goes anywhere without causing trouble.
...I bet that's exactly the one.
At least there's no more red lyrium idol?
If things are still floating about in there, I can't wait to see Sera's reaction. ![]()
I'm still surprised Hawke didn't get his/her head cut off for their part (unwitting or not) in the mage rebellion, if they went that route. I mean... I'm glad that didn't happen, but still.
Varric likely gave Hawke a pardon, arguing that their long history of service to aiding Kirkwall, both the little things they did and major events like stopping the Qunari and Meredith, earned them enough points to absolve them of any wrong-doing, even if they had supported of the mage rebellion. Besides, Varric would have to order an execution on himself and Aveline too, because both were alongside Hawke at Gallows and shared in the deed.
That being said, I doubt such a pardon would ever be given to Anders, even if Hawke was in a relationship with him. Varric's opinion of Anders in Inquisition seems to suggest he'd not allow his former friend within a hundred miles of Kirkwall... although he's free to try his luck reconnecting with Sebastian over in Starkhaven.

This is what I thought, too.

And providing that Hawke didn't romance a certain Riviani pirate, also contains crude drawings carved into the masonry and furniture that's either broken, covered in fingernail marks or suspicious looking stains...

Even though I have issues with the Inquisitor's story, I'm remarkably satisfied with Hawke's return to Kirkwall with Varric. After all these years of struggle and hardship, Hawke finally won. Mine, at least, will be able to fix her city, live with Merrill again, and get the satisfaction of seeing the Circles freed.
Aside from the Circle thing, I am inclined to agree. Hawke had a pretty sh*tty life. Good to see a turnaround in that
I'm more pleased about what I read: that Varric apparently sets up a trade agreement with the governing Clan Lavellan of Wycome, giving them more political power. My Hawke made the ultimate sacrifice, but at least Varric filled the void to save Kirkwall and help the People.
Heh, Varric made my Trevelyan a compte. ![]()
Heh, Varric made my Trevelyan a compte.
For as Cadash, it turns out that Varric pulled some strings to get them a seat in the Merchant's Guild... although he jokes that's only because the others in the Guild wouldn't let him pawn off his own seat on someone else, simply so he didn't have to attend meetings anymore.

I'm kinda disappointed a dead Hawke didn't even get a mention. I'd think Varric would have done something in their memory, or something...
In my canon playthrough Hawke died and I took Varric to the Fade library in Trespasser. There he finds an 'unwritten' chapter of HiHT which describes a scene between the main character (who is now a barman) and a 'dark haired noble' who plays the lute (badly). I thought it was a touching allusion to Hawke and their friendship. Poor Varric sounds really spooked as well.
Did anyone else find this?

I found the chapter, but I didn't have Varric with me. I was like... how did Varric's book got into ancient elven library?
So it's unwritten? Even better! ![]()

Yep, Varic was like "What is this!?" "I never wrote this!" Maybe the fade conjured it up based on his thoughts/longings? It made me imagine the two of them meeting up in the afterlife or something... ![]()
Spirits like stories and strong emotions, and Varric learned from Cole that he does have "fans in the Fade", so maybe this counts as something worth preserving for them too even if it's not formally part of the "real story" of Hard in Hightown.

The Breach and then Corypheus were the official purpose, yes, but for me it was also about the people and hope and trying to leave the world a little better than it used to be. In Your Heart Shall Burn and Cole's "you are theirs" really drove that home for me. Plus, Corypheus was such a non-entity (I always felt that conflict between him and the Inquisitor was not the story Bioware had any real interest in telling) that I needed there to be more to the Inquisition to stay invested in the story. Seeing how it feels like everyone in Trespasser is bent on destroying us, it would just have been nice to have something positive mentioned in the epilogue. Cullen may build his sanatorium, the mages may be better off, the Divine may do all right, but that is their doing.
Well, Sebastian may have invaded Kirkwall, and Vivienne is Vivienne, so I don't blame him.
Sebastian didn't invade in my worldstate, though, and Vivienne being a power-monger doesn't change the impression that Varric, as a character who says he doesn't want power, still needs to step up his game if he doesn't want his "can't be arsed" approach to "foreign politics" to come back and bite him in the butt.
I thought it was Bran instead of Hawke! I'm glad I was mistaken.
However, I was more thrilled to see Aveline again. That hair cut!
That was Bran.
Hawke is only mentioned in that epilogue slide, but isn't shown.

Yep, this does change based on who you left in the Fade. Mine had Stroud instead of Hawke. You can read all the different versions here. It's kind of depressing really, but a neat touch.

Ah so it is meant as a tribute to all the fade-fallen.
Love the Alistair one. Am going to tear up for sure when I play that world-state...
Thanks for that link. And yes, the Alistair one ... I almost wish that could come true. It would be a kinder fate for the man whom my Warden came to regard as a brother before she died to the Archdemon than the throne he had to take was.
