You can leaping shot without a target far away to get stealth before a fight

Then you waste a leaping shot. Better to just stealth, then kill the target without wasting a good damage skill just for the stealth.

But it also depends on specialization. Assasins can never have too much stealth (Stealth into leaping shot critical with KitS and back into stealth to use another ability for another automatic crit from KitS), while tempest should not have it (they have flask of frost for a reason).

Not only that, upgrade also removes ill effects and with 100% agro drop, no rogue should be without.

Can't argue with the first part, but I ran two different PTs (one through JoH) with Sera as an Archer and never had Stealth on her. Worked just fine. She'd use Leaping Shot on AI to escape melee and I'd use Flask of Frost while controlling her to punish anyone who got close.  :devil:

My first play through was on default and 1 pt in it sufficed, but my following play through I did my first NM run and for me, it was a life saver on a number of occasions, but this was also pre-toggle and leaping wasn't available.   I'm currently attempting a NM solo with, likely, as I haven't gotten to that point yet, artificer again and any escape mechanism I have in my tool belt the better.  Still getting creamed in a few places.

Really?  You don't want to wait a few seconds for leaping shot to refresh?  Better to suck up one of the very limited 8 slots on your skill bar?  The stealth from leaping shot is like the stealth from skirmisher (except skirmisher on flank attack needs a target) in that it will not go away due to time.

I admit assassin has a reason to put it on their bar, but personally I still wouldn't.  8 slots is really limiting and now you have built-in perma stealth in leaping shot or flank attack.  Why would you ever do that?  As for Tempest, I still use stealth (via flank attack).  With lasting shadows upgrade, I continue to do damage after flank attack while stealthed.  That's 50% extra damage is nothing to sneeze at.

Simple Archer/ Artificer design:

* Archer: all abilities
* Stealth: all on left side, and one to the right.
* Artificer: all abilities except upgrades.
* Focus: both Aegis picks and Focus boost. However, if planning to play Trespasser, one may wish to skip the latter ability, and place that selection on Knockout Bomb or Artificer upgrade of choice.

This may or may not include all of the Amulet bonuses.

This build is effective, and still fits the parameters of the OP. No Active abilities need to be taken for the Artificer, but the Passives are apparently very helpful. In my own gameplay, only Elemental Mines and Hail of Arrows is used.

If one were to drop the entire Spec, I would invest the picks into filling out the Stealth tier except for Shadow Strike, then take Daggers for the Passives, or Sabotage for the few Actives that might be helpful.
