Someone pointed out to me yesterday that after the last update, spike trap is awesome on archer. I tested it today on NM and I loved it   I was surprised to find out that although a lot of my friends say they loved spike trap on hunter, but has never tried it on the archer(including myself). So I thought I might share it for the sake of those who has never considered this.

Pros:

- (virtually) no animation

- Very long duration time

- High damage

- Launch mobs into air (so + survivability)

- No CD due to Opportunity Knocks

Cons:

- Errr, it takes up a skill slot I guess. But when I play archer, I usually just use leap shot, fall back plan and explosive shot (some prefer long shot but I can't deal with the aggro) anyway. Although I know mark of death is also popular.

Strategy:

Well you still play archer as how you usually play it. But: drop the trap when ever and where ever you can! Turn this into a sub conscious move when playing archer.

When you are safe, just drop the spike trap all over the play and as you move along. When you walk pass door ways and etc, try drop one there also if it's not on CD.

When you are in combat, try drop some traps on the potential routes the enemy may take. If you are in melee range, spike trap to launch the mob into air and then follow with leap shot often works nicely. Drop another when you land. Often those randomly placed traps will launch some mobs trying to sneak up on you  Handy.

If you use fall back plan, make sure to plant some around ur fall back point in case there is unexpected mobs around.

When you want to retreat (when you got some mobs aggro on you), spike trap also comes handy. Drop one as you walk away and the mobs tailing you will set them off, often slows them down or even give you a chance to leap shot them.

Basically, leap shot / long shot is still archer's core ability, but spike trap also works wonders in all sorts of situations. The best thing is, it often gets you out of trouble if you only casually drop them as you play along. (And a lot of damage as well... And you can drop tones of them.)

Yeah spike trap really cool with no cool down
Using this with heartstrings bow makes immortal in some way: just need a mob to step on it and you'll raise like a Phoenix if you're dead
By the way doesn't work with caltrops

This is why we can't have good things

As soon as we get something good for the Hunter someone brings up the Archer... Why, just why?!?!

Spike trap is always a good to me because I never take him in to up close combat and those stealth baddies always like to go after people on their own.

Welcome at last, friend. We were waiting.

*nods solemnly & makes passing gesture that somehow perfectly emblematises a Spike Trap*

LOVE spike trap on NM with my archer. In the rare case I do die, in most cases some mob somewhere will run over my caltrops or spike trap and Ill get up on my own.
