Am I the only one who feels alienated from the DA fanbase?

I'm surprised that this is being allowed to continue, given how strict rules are here. That last line would've warranted a ban immediately from my experience.

Upon watching the ending of Trespasser on Youtube, I'm suddenly struck with a deep sadness that I really just couldn't enjoy Inquisition, as hard as I tried.

And do you know why? Combat. Combat was HUGE in the first two games, it was the whole reason I even cared at all about the lore. I loved Origins and DA2 so much. Inquisition took that away from me.

Solas, you destroyed Thedas for me a year before this DLC was even released...

It absolutely disgusts me what the DA fanbase has become. Literally everyone shoots me down saying "I hated the combat in Origins, blah blah blah" what a joke. How can you even call yourself a DA fan if you hated the combat of the ORIGINAL DA GAME?!

All that Inquisition caters to is a bunch of squealing Cullen fangirls.

I understand you, I even recently made a topic hoping to help people enjoy combat... it is close to impossible to like it.
Trespasser does not make combat better, for people like you and me that loved Origins but new skill add ons and new schematics make combat a lot more fun! It won't be serious combat, don't know if I can properly explain it, but it becomes such a carnival of damage and effects you can at least laugh on some occasions.

Sorry OP, nearly all the people who preferred Origins combat have given up on DA and moved on to games like Pillars of Eternity and Divinity: Original Sin (except for the odd crazy like me). Bioware is catering to the console crowd now, and they aren't going back (more's the pity). You have to decide if you can tolerate the change or you can't. Personally, I'm on the fence.

in my experience . i enjoyed the ranged class and not the melee class cause of the camera angles . and the flashy abilities . you can't see anything while fighting in melee ;/

I see someone enjoys yelling "No true Scotsman!".

I pushed through Origins' clunky combat because I enjoyed the story, world, and characters. The same thing I did with the original Mass Effect. If a game is interesting enough, I will tolerate poor combat to enjoy its other features.

After having played ME2 and loving it, I felt that way about the original Mass Effect too. Playing them out of sequence was a jarring experience to say the least and god how I loathed the Mako!! I admit to feeling some trepidation over the return of that vehicle in Andromeda.

I've never felt bent out of shape over the combat in any of the Dragon Age games, one simply has to adjust as fighting has been different each time at bat. For me by and large, I'm in this franchise for the story; but why anyone would use that as an epithet is beyond me?

Newsflash: This is a cinematic storytelling game. If you want gameplay with no story, there are plenty of alternatives.

Which is fine, except for when the story is bland and soulless, which is the case here.  This game panders to the type of gamer who has a 5 minute attention span and is easily distracted by shiny new objects.

The combat in Origins was clunky and slow. I know why a certain sub-set of the player-base loved it, and it rhymes with "Wages Mer Moverpowered", but the combat was still clunky and slow.

I played a sword'n'board tank in both games, dislike how the devs seem to treat mages as their pet class in the series, and much preferred Origins' combat regardless. :P Inquisition's 8-skill limit alone is a killer, and when it comes to clunkiness, its UI takes the "prize" for certain. I prefer slower combat anyway ... frantic combat only has a chance to be enjoyable when I'm not controlling a full party.

Everybody entitled to there own opinion tbh so here mine, i played the arse out of DA:O but the stick up the arse animations annoyed me an per usual i never relied on tactics or party for anything other than dialogue, i thought DA2 was a step in right direction, especially the amount of skill trees (yummy), DA:I was basically much the same as other 2 so cannae much grumble i suppose, skill trees are crap but thats another story, never been much oh one to use tactics or take control of companions though so cannae say much past they all swing an hit the same way in all the 3 games lol

Say one thing though, BioWare crave a huge hit an they certainly wont get it fae a DA or ME game (going by past examples anyhow), no a hit like skyrim, gta, cod etc no sell numbers like they have, see what the new ip about, maybe they realise this themselves an they going to try somein new to attract the numbers

You feel alienated because you think people don't respect your view. You go on to then insult us all by saying we are Cullen Fangirl's. So guess what. I don't care, sorry people don't get you.

Eh, DAI was the best when it came to speed. Not as slow as DAO but not as fast as DA2.
