I rather be stuck with a human with a tighter background to make up for it honestly.  The choosing your race I find...kind of meh? And with the way BW fumbled the Qunari smh.

Eh, qunari was still better then dwarves at least, since again they did a cop out with being put in the fade by dreaming.

Dwarves are the inferior race they should expect an inferior experience :P

You're just upset that elves  are second to humans in terms of effort ;)

The yo-yo effect for dwarves and qunari needs to go, definitely.

Hell I could have handled it if the qunari didn't have bugged armor at launch and needed dlc armor >.>

Oh god don't get me started. Half the armor looked like pjs then they just went "lol forget it you can't even put it on." FFS.

PJs for DA4?

Actually, I'll amend my statement: I would be willing to play a human, but only if I get to romance a dwarf. :P

If there is no choice than I won't buy the game. I don't like the options of just playing as one race; it seems so restrictive.

 sweet maker no.

Least they finally fixed that.

This doesn't look like a strong argument when you have a DA2 icon...

Just saying.

Elves are my jam.  And the thought that DA:I almost didn't have them available still boggles my mind.

Having bought and played DA2 might be how they decided they don't want to play another DA game without races you can choose from.

Very. The idea that having a character of a fixed race will give us a better story looks to me to be faulty. Dragon Age 2 didn't exactly have a better story with an only human Hawke?

Must have. They're are enough stories in the world where humans beat racist superiority complex elf.

But there are hardly stories where badass qunari beats racist elves!

As long as I can play as a female human, I'm fine. ;)

Very, very important.

I want to play as a Qunari again... and I want to be able to make one that actually looks like a Qunari and has more then 3 styles of semi-bald haircuts :P

As long as we have a Male Human Noble, I don't care what else they add :)

Probably not very much in the long run, you may get one or two different variations in dialog but as far as I can tell picking a race matters very little

There are many people who want to play their Inquisitor again in DA4. This would require character customization to get the look as close as possible.

There are also many people who want their Inquisitor to show up in a non-protagonist capacity. This too would require customization to replicate their appearance.

In either case, "Inquisitor appears = character customization with multiple races", and it makes no sense to have said customization in the game for the Inquisitor and yet restrict it for DA4's protagonist. It's not even a matter of preference, it's a matter of logic.

Where would the opinion "only if it makes a true difference in the game" fit in the poll?

I actually thought about having that as an option but decided it raised to many questions about what a true difference would mean!

I voted: Would rather a set race but not a deal breaker

I still feel like Hawke was the best protagonist so far, and I still think the limited selection is a big part of that.  The attempt to do the same sort of framework for the Inquisitor but needing it to work for so many different backgrounds is why Quizzie turned out bland.  To that end, I'd rather have more limited options again, since that seems to have worked better.  That doesn't mean there couldn't be multiple races, but ideally they'd all share the same background.  I'm fond of the ex-slave idea, for example.

Pretty important -- Kinda tired of playing average joe human protagonist myself nevermind the pre-set backstory and characterization that usually comes with it. I loved having the racial selections back in Inquisition.

I'm pretty big on CC's in games so I tend to advocate for more options no matter what.
