You think there's even going to BE a DA 4?

Conversely, "Secret IP" will likely remain as such for quite some time, I estimate, and then when we finally learn its name, I think it'll be a good while before we learn much else.
So perhaps EA is taking a sort of middleground here between "surprise, it's Fallout 4!" and "please do not expect info on the Final Fantasy VII remake for quite some time, but here is a trailer."

Although I don't doubt the game did well, I'm always going to be a pinch suspect of the notion that it did as well as EA boasted. Despite launching on five systems, it failed to chart the NPD Top 10 for November 2014. I believe it was Aaryn Flynn (could be mistaken) who later clarified it narrowly missed the chart, but it still surprised me a little.
TONS of really popular games came out in November. It's not that weird. If they greenlit DA:I after DA2, I have zero doubt they'll greenlight DA4 after DA:I.

It's super-common marketing lingo which is often applied to everything from television to film to novels to games. It was used by Mark Darrah recently, so it has spread here.
Lol i know what the term "greenlight" means. I am confused as to why people are shitting the bed over the game not being given the go-ahead, this conversation to my knowledge hasn't happened in previous years.

I remember some Bioware employee on Twitter saying it was a very big if on whether Dragon Age 4 was going to happen. They hadn't gotten the green light to do another one. Honestly, I never got the chance to role play as a badass elf in this one because they all had crappy hair and messed up character models. So I'm actually kind of hoping they do make another one. If only so they can actually be more comfortable with the motherloving game engine this time.
What are your thoughts?
I am sure it will happen, just hope it's a better game.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. It's the busiest month of the year for this industry. Still, narrowly missing the top ten was a subject that many analysts discussed at the time, and not without reason. The game was expected to place, albeit on the lower end. As I've said, there are plenty of outlying probable causes, including but not limited to the obvious competition. But it's worthy of consideration, I think.

I do vaguely recall a ton of people flipping out over the "probability" that there'd never be a DA3 in the months which followed DA2, actually. I didn't pay it much attention at the time, because I was only here for Mass Effect in those days!

Producers will NEVER give a greenlight until they have a working idea/plot to give them. Until this is the case, Bioware staff can't promise anything for legal reasons.
The reasonable assumption is that they at least intend to make one. DAI events indicate heading towards the Teventer Imperium (or at least the north). DAI is their most successful launch to date, so it is extremely likely the bigwigs will be on board, also.

This is not what they said. They were being cagey about saying anything because they don't have a formal budget yet--it hasn't gone through the approval process. That's not the same thing as saying that the approval is in doubt or "a very big if". The paperwork hasn't been signed yet. They are probably busy prepping their proposal materials as we speak, which includes things like a basic feature list and cost estimates etc, it's not just a piece of paper with "we want 2 mak gam" written on it in crayon.

It will most likely happen at some point but I hope we get a Bioware game in the future not connected to mass effect or Dragon Age, it would be nice to see a fresh world
We want jade empire two.

I don't think we will get another Dragon Age game unless there are big changes from the old Dragon Age games.

Translation:
I didn't like the previous Dragon Age and unless the next game caters to my preferences, the series deserves to be cancelled

What makes you say that?
Because after 3 Dragon Age games we need some changes or it will get boring.
Same as the Witcher and Mass Effect games.

We had 3 completely different games with no relation between them at all
DAO is more different than DA2 than Tetris is to Tekken 7
DAI looks like DA2 just like Darth Vader looks like Tinker Bell
All we need is less change, and more identity for gods sake!
