I've been playing for several hours today, and I have been astounded. From human adepts using gear to increase tech power damage, to Drell Adepts using gear to boost sniper rifle damage, when they were using the Locust - I have seen it all. 90% of the Gold games I joined, I was greeted with "team member is hurt" just to find a squad wipe on wave 1. There is only one conclusion. The Origin sale has brought in a wave of silly people. There are new people, and then there are idiots - and my experience today shows they are of the second variety, not the first. These people go beyond the average PUG into stupidity. In the past week, most people in gold games have been competent at least. But now, most are incompetent. Have any of you seen anything like this recently?

ugh,, the game went on sale again??? well, that explains the large influx of low level N7's flooding gold lobbies..I noticed a huge turn down in the quality of pugs the last 2 weeks......I usually lobby surf until I find at least 1 decent looking player...Haven't seen any of those in weeks

Actually I've found a lot of really good players in pugs recently. Maybe I'm just playing at a different time of the day or something.

After their new purchase new players tend to play Single-player first to learn the ropes of the game so the Steam/Origin sales have very minimal impact on the average skill of the game's Multi-player community immediately after the sales unless the game is Multi-player only.

I disagree. I bought ME3 pretty much for the MP, and played that before even starting the SP. In fact, I've put about 800hrs into the MP, and I think I've just completed Priority: Tuchunka in SP. It was almost a month before I even made an SP character.

New players are more likely to play some kind of tutorial or single-player campaign before before being comfortable enough to jump into multi-player. If they are brave enough to jump right into multi-player they will play on lower difficulties for some time until they feel they have got the hang of the game and need more challenge, thus having very minimal impact on the overall skill level of higher difficulty lobbies unless it is one of their first few games when they have not fully realized they should be playing on lower difficulties.

This is the ideal new player, but you and I both know that there's no way the new players we're running into take it step by step.

All we get here are complaints about how new players should start off on bronze instead of hosting gold lobbies and waiting for experienced players to carry, which is the exact opposite of what you're saying.

Are there some players who do that? Perhaps there are; not everyone is looking to take over the world the moment they leave the womb, but most new players are trialing by fire in gold and platinum lobbies in their first 10 hours of MP.

It certainly doesn't help the situation when for all of my profiles, the default quick search has been U/U/P the first time I used them.
Nor does it help when the "Hints and Tips" on the loading screens refer to SP. Some "hints" relating to MP, especially about how hard the higher difficulties are without equipment/classes, and a "'Gear' is a permanent bonus, always remember to equip it" sort of thing.
I'm not saying that the system is entirely to blame, there are some really bad players with the hours to suggest they should not suck. Just saying that it would help if it was handled slightly differently (Sadly, too late for any changes now).

yep you're right, but if you're a tough fighter or space wizard :wizard:  who has been in the worst battles you should be good enough for carry all those miserable noobs, no only complaining about them, so you're no better than them L2P PUGs

Well actually, the default search parameters in MP quick search function is Collector / Platinum. There's no real reason for someone new to the franchise to understand what that means.

If anything it may drive some people away from MP entirely as their first match with an Hsol toting an Avenger I in Platinum is going to be frustrating to say the least.

That was a HUGE oversight

Only thing that matters IMO. I've been pleasantly surprised at how many newer players I've been seeing on PS3.

I don't mind new players, what I do mind is when they are the host and they quit on Wave 2 and I lose my Cryo IV ammo

They make no sense, they seem to want you to carry them, but then when you do they get mad at you

As I said, there's new people - and then there's idiots. :P

Tbh what I tend to do is just keep skipping through lobbies until I find one with someone who has at LEAST 300 N7 rank. And if there's someone with the Avenger I in the lobby I vote to kick. If there's two people with terrible kits I just leave. There's no point in playing just to fail. And when you're playing with these kind of people, you are DEFINITELY going to fail. I definitely could do wave 1-5 by myself on Gold if the rest of the team wipes but I don't fancy 6-11 tbh. I MAYBE could do it, but it'd get ridiculously boring after a while.

I dropped into a Gold game on Hazard Ghost against the Reapers earlier and there were 2 Geth Juggernauts with Avengers and an N7 Fury with the Spitfire I.

All three of them went down every single wave multiple times.

I got so fed up with it on wave 6 when everyone died I just did a little dance in front of a Banshee so I could get the hell out of there.

They didn't use medi-gel at all (all were executed after going down). I just stopped reviving them. I completed both wave 3 and 6 objectives by myself so y'know.

The next game I joined had an N7 Slayer who still had 0 points on Wave 5.

The game after that was on Firebase Reactor with a team who kept going down ALL the time. I waited for them to use their medi-gel and then locked them all (and me) in the reactor. It was like some sort of massacre but hey by that point I was fed up. :P

^^^^^LOL x's 2 ---------- LIES & Slander.

New PUGs these dayz got quite the "set" on them..I get brand new N7's in my gold lobby's every single night..

I would kick em but by the time I start my own lobby..it's cuz i have been lobby-surfing for at least 30 minutes--to find only really bad looking lobbies populated by newer players...at that point I just want to play & I dont care about carrying..

EDIT: Also,,,LOL Penguin about that Spitfire 1 Fury..I think that person found my lobby after your game

edit 2 my edit: ^^^ Just gave me an idea for 2night..Equipping the spitfire on the Fury as I lobby surf to see what happens

At least PUGs are functional in ME3, if ME:A netcode is anything like DA:I, prepare to say goodbye to public games.

Sometimes im not sure if its good if new players start with SP. They got used to pausing the game, having time dilations etc. etc. They can evolve so many bad habits that does not help multiplayer at all. of course i'd rather have a player in my lobby who completed the SP instead of someone who never even touched it.
