Hey all!
I've been playing a pre-end game save with all of the Trials options on....so far I have seen no rewards whatsoever from doing this...
Am I playing it wrong? What's going on sunny jim?

It's kind of random. You get a message that you received a trials reward, and then you go to that chest that you get your DLC items from, and you receive a random item. Pretty good items, at that. I've gotten some level 19 and 20 purple items, and I just hit level 13 on my new game.
I don't have all the trials on, just the ones that significantly increase the chance of getting a reward. These trials may make the game a little difficult to start, but the rewards seem to make it easier later on... ooo, free purple gear, and it's the new kind of purple gear!
Are you exploring in enemy-rich environments? I found that I would have to kill 8-12 "promoted" elite enemies for each reward.
Maybe it isn't so random then. However, not all enemies get "promoted" from the trials, some trials just impact the party (losing focus, health pots being useless).

I think he/she is referring to the 'Walk Softly' option specifically. It gives some of the enemies new abilities in combat, more health, etc. Kill enough enemies affected by this mode, and you'll get a reward.
The modes either 'significantly' or 'slightly' increase the chances of a shipment. The ones granting significant increases are Even Ground (enemies level with you), Walk Softly (gives more abilities to some enemies), Rub some dirt on it (nerfs healing potions) and Grizzly End (makes Great Bears as challenging as dragons).
I heard people playing saves from before the patch that were not getting the rewards, people theorized it only worked for new saves... I don't know, I'm playing a new save and I'm receiving regularly
And yes, I guess each time one of the "restrictions" kicks in you have a % chance of getting a reward, meaning if you kill a bear with grizzly activated you have 5% of getting a reward, of course I'm wild guessing %, but I guess that's how it works, kind of
I got the message. Where can I pick these things up?
they are in the special shipments container in the forge area of Skyhold, or in your little house in Haven.
You can pick up the rewards in the Undercroft. There's a small chest there, and you see an exclamation point on your map if the chest has something in it.
So far the only thing I've gotten from it is ONE fade-touched gurn something something. Not even 2 jeez.
I have these settings turned on
- enemies scale
- bear upgrade
- double negative dissapprovals
- no supply caches
- enemies use new abilities based on their class (one thing i've noticed is that enemy archers spam leaping shot when you have this on - might just be me though)

Sorry for being unclear. I meant that you have to be encountering conditions imposed by the Trials to receive rewards. If you've got Walk Softly turned on, you have to fight promoted enemies. If you're using Rest Easy and/or Even Ground, you have to be out in the wilderness areas fighting enemies and not chilling out in Val Royeaux. Etc.
Just got Fade-Touched Silverite (+5 Guard on Hit) as a trial reward. I saved and reloaded until I got something neat.
