There was drama queen Kaidan and muscle man James (though he was sweet) also Thane which was my favorite romance,

Jacob didn't have the personality I liked in stories and I am not lesbian so I am not going to list the lesbian romances.

Let's have a former Bounty Hunter romance with a troubled/sad past or a sweet guy with cheesy lines Anakin cough cough

or maybe someone who is not restricted by written ('too' linear) dialog and develops a personality based on your decisions well, all companions need this... but, What do you people think the next romances should be?

Are you fine with BioWares choice of characters so far?

I'd just like a little variety!  I adore Kaidan and was quite happy with his romance but in ME1 it was him or nothing for Shep.  In ME2 it was aliens or nothing (much as I love Thane, and much as Garrus is always Shep's best and closest friend).  Okay, Jacob existed but he was so milquetoast and Shep was so repulsive talking to him that I couldn't stomach it.  Then they removed two of those options and we straight ladies had to beg newly steroidal Kaidan to take us back, fall into bed with our best bud, or go for the ladies.  Yes, I consider Asari ladies, monogendered malarkey be damned.

Let me have a fling or three.  Give me a free spirit who isn't dying.  Let me make a gay man with more than one option.  Steve was lovely but perhaps my new hero won't want so much baggage to haul around a new galaxy.  Give me a guy with an accent!

A little less use of the bitter-sweet endings would be much appreciated.

Kaidan was the least dramatic of all the love interests arguably.  He told you about his past, but he dealt with it right so.

Jacob needs you to go find out about his dad, Thane is dying, and you can't romance James unless I missed something in Citadel.

And you're putting down the Kaidan romance but asking for a "former Bounty Hunter romance with a trouble/sad past" ......?

Make the game more realistic for females: see Mordin for your daily birth control.

If you complete his loyalty mission, he'll insert an IUD for you.

Kaiden? He felt more like bro for my fem!Shep, I never was able to romance him with my female character at least.

Jacob? Only if I plan to let him die on purpose in ME2 final mission so that bastard doesn't cheat in ME3.

Thane? Not crazy about guys who compare me with their dead wife and who are going to die, thank you very much.

James Vega? Sorry Jane Shepard doesn't want smoosh smoosh!

Javik? LOL!!!!

Mordin? BW we seriously need salarian romance....for science of course xD

For me best male and only worth it romance was Garrus when it comes to ME sries and with just this single Garrus BW managed to steal my heart and they already made best romance in ME in my books with Garrus, just with that one Garrus I managed to ignore fail/ boring/ tragic and WTF romances that fem Shepard had.Since there is no Garrus in ME:A I don't care for romances anymore. The end.

I think otherwise romances were fine, but Jacob's cheating could have been cut out and generally there wasn't lot of content for straight female PC romance-wise in ME3 cause Thane died and Jacob cheated so you pretty much only had Kaidan and Garrus. I find Kaidan bit boring myself, but many like his romance so I guess it was good call. And overall we had Garrus so this aren't that bad ^^

I liked Kaidan romance very much as well as Garrus romance. I liked Thane romance too even though he died in ME3  and there wasn't much romantic content with him in that game. Allthough I have to admit that I'm not a fan of the romances which end badly but Thane romance was an exception because I guessed that it might end badly before I started it and Shepard can die in the end of ME3. I did't play Jacob romance but what happened in ME3 was just horrible. I hope that never happens again. I looked the James romance and it was very bad as well.  FemShep basicly begged him to sleep with her and afterwards he was very cold. I don't like that kind of romances either.

Hopefully the next male LIs have sexy voices :D Other than that I don't know.

THAT would be bold and interesting... I mean don't we all find our selves asking: "why do they keep staying if..." ... works for both genders too, since a survey showed that in younger straight couples, most violence is instigated by the woman.

It's certainly a subject with some real meat... and big story potential I think...

...

Buuuut again... Is the developers, the series, the genre... ready to deal with these things in a decent manner?  And is it beyond the purview of mass effect? Do we really want such heavy themes in our mass effect?

I'd definitely like this, and I hope the romances will go into this direction at some point. They don't need to do it with all of course, but a few would be really cool to see.

As for the choices, I like Kaidan, though I haven't played the romance out with FemShep in ME3 so far, but it looks sweet. James would've been a logical choice since FemShep can end up with literally no straight romance if you're not into aliens or if Kaidan dies on Virmire or the Citadel Coup.

James was apparently planned as some sort of fling it seems, something that hinted there was more to the flirting, but he never went any further. I would've really liked to have seen this, some sort of "tender" bonding where the character ultimately can't commit in the end (Citadel DLC plays with that in James's case, but FemShep is quite pushy and creepy... her flirting lines are horrible). Would've been bittersweet, but I guess this is not everyone's cup of tea, too.

So, in conclusion, a little more balanced romances between female and male protagonist. If they are "better" is always a matter of taste though :)

And I really wish for better flirting lines for the protagonist.

Female lesbian quarian/salarian or straight drell who don't compare you to someone who is dead. I'm pretty sure I want to romance female character this time. In DAO, DAI and ME Trilogy I romance male characters, only Merril in DA2 - all caused by pretty lame fem/fem options.

Bring me good fem/fem pls.

Yes please. I mean, I had Garrus in the Trilogy, that was more than enough.

In a Garrus-less game though? Better female protag romances please.

Garrus romance was beautiful. They where friends before becoming lovers and had a lot of chemistry between them. I loved how he's both adorkably charming and badass.

Garrus is my favorite BW romance with Alistair, Solas and Fenris close behind. If the romances are anything like these I'll be a very happy woman.

I would also like someone like Dorian from DAI (I adore him) and Anders like he was in DA: Awakening, both are charming and funny.
