Considering the facts remain that straight female protagonists had twice as many romance options as straight males did in DA:I, it is bothersome to me that this thread exists. I understand Mass Effect's were lacking for female players, but that was then. You can be rest assured that since they're starting with a clean slate, you'll get your male romances. They're not gonna screw you ladies over, especially considering that the romance fanbase, is this 800lbs Gorilla in the writing room over at Bioware.

They know. There's a new romance thread almost every day to remind them, and plenty of people complained about how Jacob and Thane were handled. I'm way more concerned these days about the quality of their actual  games.

Different series and different team making the series so I think people are more worried about ME:A following ME3 than DAI in terms romances for straight female protagonist and that's why these thread exists.

There is new romance threads cause that's what people like talking about, not necessary cause Bioware reads these forums which is something they might or might not be doing, who knows.

Ugh really?

Female protagonists had the better romance choices in DA:I in both quantity and quality. Straight male players had Cassandra and Jose, while straight female players had Cullen, Blackwall, Solas and Iron Bull. Three of those people were the best romances the game had to offer.

I think it's safe to say female players shouldn't have anything to complain about right now.

Careful, Sir. The protagonist and the player are different things.

I'm a straight male player, I had Cassandra, Josie, Cullen, Blackwall, Solas, Iron Bull, Sera, and Dorian as options. I played a romance with all of them, and remained a straight male player throughout.

I just don't want a bunch of liars/bores.

Just please give me 2 choices on the level of Garrus and Cullen. That's all I want. No gotcha drama bull. No "I lied to you all this time." BS. Give that to the male protag's fem lis for a change if you're so attached to that drama.

So now you pretend that writers focus on creating an entire character personality based on how you want your relation with him to be? Egotistical much.

Let them write what they want (this time for real even if this means someone get unhappy with it).

Uh no.

And sure I'm just tired of 90% of the problematic LIs being dumped on the fem protag's shoulders. I am allowed to express my opinions on this forum you know <3

Ofc I'm not debating that you are entitled to your opinion. It's more like the tone, let them write what they prefer. Sometimes females get lucky (DA:I) other times males get better romances (ME). Let them create what they prefer and we deal with it. I honestly think if we let their creative minds do what they want we will get overall better characters. A creative mind need to be free to write what thinks it is the most appropriate and fitting character to the plot and if the writer choose for example to give you 5 female romances then so be it but it should be his/her decision and not the lobbying of a particular section of the fandom.

And I'm simply telling them what I'd prefer. I'm not hovering over their shoulder demanding anything so why you felt the need to come and start this "don't tell them what to do!" baffles me.

Not even Cullen was perfectly fine and not dull. As was Cassandra.

By telling them what you prefer you do sort put pressure on them. It's called lobbying.

The OP is requesting Qualitiy not Quanitity. Often quantity will result in lower individual quality.

I'm quite fed up of thread like these where every one is lobbying for his/her share of romances, indirectly asking to have his/her preferences catered at the expence of others. Is this the Congress? Everyone seems to be lobbying for his own interests. I would be fine to be honest if they get rid of the romances altogether so this chore threads wouldn't repeat itself over and over and over.

P.S: Originally I wasn't against romances...but clearly this feature is getting out of control if not even by considering the amount of threads asking for better romances....and cosidering that these threads are generally the most debated. I'm seriously thinking plot and gameplay should be BW 1st priority and not catering to our sexual preferences. There are other places for that.

If you weren't aware, having this view makes you a bigot on BSN.

I'm 100% with you on that. The writers at Bioware should just completely destroy all precedents and expectations by not doing romances at least once. Wipe the slate clean. I don't think they should abandon romances forever, in fact it would sadden me if they did, but they clearly have higher priorities, and fans treat Romance options as nothing but a diversity quota that Bioware needs to fill.

The novelty of being able to have sex with one of your party members has worn off, at least me. At first it was like "Wow! I can have my character fall in love with one of the party members? That's cool!" But nowadays it's all about "We need more gay romances. We need transgendered romances. We need a salarian romance. We need more straight male romances this time." Since when did Bioware become people's virtual pimp? It''s gotten out of hand. I can't for the life of me imagine the writers appreciate this.

There's a reason David Gaider wasn't exactly subtle that one time when he expressed his annoyance over romance options.

I find the bold section interesting. I have no doubt that is the focus for some, as I read some of the complaints about "sexless romances" in Inquisition. If that is all the romances are about, then they have no purpose and I would much rather be done with them. If, on the other hand, they add to character depth and perhaps even a character arc, then they have great value. Morrigan is a shining example of doing it right. Having romantic feelings for someone is not only new to her, but it is completely counter to everything she was raised to believe about dealing with other people, all the while knowing that she is still using this person she loves for another purpose. And in a very bold move by Bioware, there is no happily ever after for them.

It would be even better to have the romance affect the protagonist as well.

Oh yes I certainly have the ability to pressure BW like corporations do the government. That is such a legitimate comparison!

Well you are certainly not alone in having this view just don't pretend BW isn't trying to accomodate the even more demanding fans asking for romances every single day.

But you're calling someone out for basically providing their opinion, can't you see the irony here? It's thread offering someone's opinion on what would improve a long standing feature, if BioWare doesn't want to listen to that advice then that's okay they're big kids they can just ignore the thread, same as you.

I'm almost certain they'll give us two female LIs from the get-go. Liara's romance was very nice, but I never really got attached to her character. Would've romanced Tali, Ashley or Jack instead tbh. In ME3, there was a  choice between Liara or Sam though, which was very good.

As for the guys, I think Kaidan and Garrus were good romances. Garrus moreso in ME3 than ME2. His ME2 romance was too heavily focused on "we'll bang, okay?" for my taste. I thought they'd concentrate more on the emotional closeness and history of Garrus and femShep, which ME3 did.

Ultimately I romance everyone once though, so I don't mind too much. I just think it's nice when everyone has two options each.

Jumper was a pretty good film.

I actually meant him in SW. I really don't like him at all anyways, so I have no interest watching any movies with him in them.

If I would have to choose a LI model from SW, I'd go for Han Solo and Qui-Gon Jinn (my absolute favorite SW character).

They wrote what they wanted with ME2's plot and ME3's ending and look how those turned out.

They should listen to their consumers to a certan extent, just as representatives should listen to their constituents.

I can't tell you when it started, but it's very prevalent on these forums. If you don't celebrate pandering, you're a bad guy.
