Gee whiz, well excuse me all to hell.

Sorry, man, didn't mean to offend. Just throwing my perspective out there. I see so many people saying "Us guys only get blah blah..." This guy gets all of them.

It's just how I role.

Considering the facts remain that straight female protagonists had twice as many romance options as straight males did in DA:I, it is bothersome to me that this thread exists. I understand Mass Effect's were lacking for female players, but that was then. You can be rest assured that since they're starting with a clean slate, you'll get your male romances. They're not gonna screw you ladies over, especially considering that the romance fanbase, is this 800lbs Gorilla in the writing room over at Bioware.

They know. There's a new romance thread almost every day to remind them, and plenty of people complained about how Jacob and Thane were handled. I'm way more concerned these days about the quality of their actual  games.

You keep saying that first part, and it continues to be incorrect. Straight female elven protagonists had twice as many options as straight male protagonists. Obviously you're free to ignore that distinction all you like, but it's not going to make it go away. Plenty of players enjoy making a character not of their sex or sexual orientation, and content is never gated based on your real world identity.

And neither are these kind of threads going to vanish, troubling as they are to you. They are going to continue, and perhaps become more and more numerous as the game approaches without so much as a by your leave, even if you comment in each one to rail against the temerity of their existence.

Here's another thing they know: their romance content is a part of their actual games, just as their friendship building is, just as their character skill trees are. The immense snobbery it takes to dismiss the discussion of that romance content because it isn't something you place priority on is hardly new or innovative. People have been sniffing in disdain at romance related topics since well before the conception of the internet, and the reason that those discussions still proliferate is not a symptom of the Bioware fan base alone, but of human nature. Where romantic shipping is possible, there romantic shipping will be.

I'm quite fed up of thread like these where every one is lobbying for his/her share of romances, indirectly asking to have his/her preferences catered at the expence of others. Is this the Congress? Everyone seems to be lobbying for his own interests. I would be fine to be honest if they get rid of the romances altogether so this chore threads wouldn't repeat itself over and over and over.

P.S: Originally I wasn't against romances...but clearly this feature is getting out of control if not even by considering the amount of threads asking for better romances....and cosidering that these threads are generally the most debated. I'm seriously thinking plot and gameplay should be BW 1st priority and not catering to our sexual preferences. There are other places for that.

No, it's an internet forum, the purpose of which is discussion about Bioware products. In this particular section, we have only the anticipation of a Bioware product to discuss, which means that our hopes and speculation are all there is to talk about. It's completely understandable to become weary of an over discussed topic, but less understandable to attempt to shame it away. Considering the grim reality that you will never succeed in doing so, it's a bit ridiculous waste your time trying, especially when generally not being exposed to the offending discussion is literally as simple as not clicking on those threads.

The lack of dialogue in DA:I was something I didn't like, my character spoke like all she wanted to do was get in bed with the person she was trying to romance; not everybody wants to have sex because the 'time was right'. In Mass Effect: A I want a more fleshed out romance than the ME Trilogy with more lines to choose from such as (sweet romance) ('loose' romance) (flirt 'romance' then have a love scene in ME:A 2) or just something different than a set path for you to 'role-play', everybody has a different view on love. BioWare romances remind me of those 90s cheesy teen fairy tail romances.

Okay, I agree and I disagree with this. Yes, I would also like more fleshed out romances. I've always wanted more romance content, anyways. But... I definitely don't want to spent the first game (if trilogy) just flirting etc. and then wait for 2 to 3 freaking years for the love scene. That's just insane.

Also, I would like BW break the tradition, where the love scene always comes just before the game ending and only once. The pattern has basically been; Meet -> flirt -> love scene -> end of game. It's predictable and gets boring, really. It's not like it would have to be a love scene everytime, either. The protagonist and his/hers LI could just cuddle and then go to sleep, then next time something else... something like that. Just more relationship content.

Elf or Human, females still had more choices. Stop trying to make this about what race you play, I'm talking strictly females. In THAT regard, female protagonists had more choices. IF you want to continue to harp on whether or not you play an elf or human, human females still had more straight choices than males, so your whole argument is pointless.

Yes we're well aware that you guys will continue with your incessant rambling about how many more romances you want and what different types. You're free to do so, just as we're free to tell you it's annoying. Nobody is asking to outright put an end to romance discussions. It's just the constant threads being made day in and day out on the subject. We still know barely anything about the game, nevermind the characters. As I write this there are 4 topics on the front page about romances.

Yes, people do love romance and I'm sure the writers enjoying crafting them as well. You know what the writers don't enjoy? People bugging them about it all the time, as if it's the most important thing they do. Do the writers enjoy writing romance, or do they enjoy catering to every sexual preference and race, and then have to listen to fans still be unsatisfied with what they were given after? It sure as hell ain't both of those things. There are more important things to concern ourselves with.

There were many serious problems with both Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition. Romance wasn't one of them.

Romance is for suckers. I want a sugar mama/daddy that's in it for fun and buys my affection with shiny new guns.
