Is anyone else having serious problems with crashing in Descent? I played through it once just fine, but since the most recent patch + Trespasser, it has been crashing like crazy. I thought I might be able to get through the last few levels, but it keeps crashing at the same spots--I can't go any further. I'm not using any mods, and I know it's not my PC, which is well equipped to handle the game and has, obviously, already handled Descent just fine once. It doesn't give me any error messages upon crashing, either--it just freezes up and then disappears. I tried lowering the graphics quality on the effects, but that didn't do anything. It still crashes.

Also the golden nug is super buggy, disappears a lot. Has anyone else played Descent after going through Trespasser with another character/installing the latest patch? Anybody else having this issue who might be able to help??

I'm also on PC. Played through Descent just before getting Trespasser, and had no crashes.

However, I've now just started playing Jaws of Hakkon, after installing Trespasser, and am having frequent crashes to desk top during combat. I'm not using any mods either.

It seems like Trespasser might have broken something that's used in all the DLCs.

Reading another thread on Trespasser bugs, it seems that at least in trespasser, using, or having a companion that uses the ability "Lunge and Slash" would cause a crash. I'm wondering if this bug, introduced by trespasser, is affecting all the DLCs?

I do have Cassandra with me, and she does have Lunge and Slash. I'll try and disable that, and see if the combat crashes stop.

No more crashes during combat after I disabled "Lunge and Slash" from Cassandra's repertoire. So it seems to be as I suspected: Tresspasser introduced this crash bug, and it applies to Jaws of Hakkon as well - and, if the OP's crashes are due to the same cause, Descent is also affected.

What's weird is that I haven't had any crashes at all in Jaws of Hakkon--but I have also been running a different party for Hakkon than Descent. I will double check Cassandra and Blackwall's specs to see if one of them have a lunge and slash upgrade that is crashing the game and report back. Thanks for the tip! How did you figure out that was what was causing the issue? Also it wouldn't surprise me that if it was the upgrade that was causing the issue since they did add all those ability upgrades.

The golden nug is an online feature, which is why it comes and goes (if it can't connect to the server, it won't show up).

The issue with Lunge and Slash was noted by BioWare the day Trespasser was released (they intend to fix it in a future patch). Specifically, the new upgrade that allows it to refund its cost causes the game to crash when it's used (I haven't seen any crashes with the original upgrade selected).

You're quite welcome. :)

And I read about lunge and slash causing crashes in Trespasser on another thread, so that made it the first thing to come to mind when I started experiencing the crashes in Jaws of Hakkon.

It might be the upgrade, but if so, it's rather strange that lunge an slash does not seem to cause crashes in the regular game, just in the DLCs. So there has to be something DLC specific that's interacting with the lunge and slash in some weird way.

I switched from Blackwall to Cassandra and magically no crashes! Which is weird because they both have lunge and slash. My guess is Cassandra's AI wasn't using it as often, and then I did disable it so she never did. Thank you thank you for the advice! You helped me get through so I can take my Lavellan through Trespasser. ^_^

No prob. :)

The reason why switching to Cassandra worked for you too might have been to do with whether you'd upgraded lunge and slash for Cassandra, as you had for Blackwall - Lunge and Slash only causes the crashes if it's upgraded with the new upgrade option.

That's also the reason why I didn't see the crash before I started the Jaws of Hakkon - I had not used Cassandra (who had the broken lunge and slash upgrade) since picking that upgrade, and hadn't upgraded Blackwall's lunge and slash at all; so it just happened that the first time I had a character use the lunge and slash with the broken upgrade was when I picked Cassandra take with me for Jaws of Hakkon.

Oh, thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I was getting desperate with the continuous crashes! I'm on PS4 and I really wanted to start banging my head against the wall. Turning the Lunge and Slash upgrade back to the original one instead of the newly introduced one did the trick, the game is purring like a kitten again. :D

There is a shield coming with 'Trespasser' named 'The Best Defense'. Since I crafted it it makes my game crash.

When I equip Cassandra with the shield it starts pulsating. It's apparently these pulses that does it. When I unequip the shield all is normal.

I have another issue though: DAI is not starting normally via Origin.
When I click 'Play' the game launches but disappears again.
The only way I can start the game is loading my task bar and let DAI start in the background. I quickly close the task bar and DAI. It then goes fullscreen. I didn't have this issue before I got Windows 10.
