When I make a character, everything is fine until I go to pick hair, skin, eyes, build, etc.

I'm looking at a solid black window.

Anyone have any ideas?

While I have no idea what is causing this, those that might be able to help need a little more information. What OS is this occurring under? Is this on a disk based installation or a GOG version? Is this occurring with the NwN/SoU/HotU campaigns or a user made module? Have you made any changes recently? Is there anything in your override folder? What version number is your installation of NwN (i.e. 1.69).

Have you tried simple things like disabling Environment Mapping on Creatures
or setting Nice 4 Sample Antialiasing?

Okay. Windows 7 64 bit.
Neverwinter Platinum sold by GOG
and no...how would I go about those things?

The very first thing to try is to download and run the critical rebuild patch that applies to your system from the vault here. The settings that olnorton mentioned are to be found under options when you launch the game.

I have verified to a certainty that A)The platinum edition has the 1.69 patch already applied and
B) Makes no difference regardless.

In game... all is well.
During character creation the character pane is blacked out. You can pick class, race, skills you can do anything you want but actually see your character.

I've messed about with the video settings, nothing seems to matter.

Success! and... something... weird. Jiggering about with Anti-aliasing did the trick!

I think I was picking picks but somehow or other it wasn't taking... or something.

Anyways, where once NO option worked, now all but one work.

Thanks, you two! You WERE a big help after all! :)
