Jumping to something else , because that's what I tend to do , sorry...

There's this artwork from the DAI codex , I've been finding peculiar since day1 .

Spoiler

Don't laugh but my theory is it's Mythal and Fen Harel.

He has hair!. What's on his face? I've wondered about that image too.

But where is there light from the breach coming from? There has to be something to explain the burning the world will experience when the veil comes down.

Reason I want to know about the sun is because it seems to play a role in creation if the story about Elgar'nan has any truth to it. Sun + earth = life. But the sun unchecked can burn it all up.

The light is coming from The Fade, it's how it's perceived from a physical perspective. The "sun" we see depicted in the mural seems to be engulfed in shadow, even if it was in The Fade, it's imprisoned. We have no clue whether the veil being destroyed would release it the same way it would supposedly "release" the Evanuris because clearly it wasn't a problem for them before they were imprisoned.

I could see that! She looks like Morrigan.

Also this is possibly a hint at him, Mythal and the Inquisitor. Dead woman with crown, bald guy holding her, 3rd person with a severed left arm crushed beneath the two. Possibly a symbol of the Well if you drink from it?

http://forum.bioware...nding-spoilers/

I don't even want to think about the lyrium idol.

It doesn't look good at all , those people look near death or dead , it seems they are trying to get out of the bowels of the earth or a dragon jaw , reaching to something higher , perhaps the fade ...I don't know.

Boggles the mind.

It could be Mythal death but I'm not sure , with her followers (it's hard to see but there's actually 3 people on the idol) still clinging to her.Really don't know.

Speaking of Songs. I'm replaying DAI with Dorian and Cole in my party and I had this banter tonight:

  • Dorian: Do you need to eat, Cole? Or sleep?
  • Cole: I thought I had to. But I don't. The Old Songs can pull me.
  • Dorian: That's something. I don't know what, but it's something.
  • Dorian: What about when you're injured? Why do you bleed? Is it because you think you have to?
  • Cole: Is that why you bleed?
  • Dorian: I-- well-- uh, yes. You have me there.

Like Keeva said , it's close to Valta .

Also Lyrium Leliana.Although I think there's just one song for them.

Cole says "old songS" ; again too much songs...there's a whole invisible choir on Thedas doing things.

He has hair!. What's on his face? I've wondered about that image too.

I said "don't laugh" because I know it's just some random artwork I'm probably seeing far too much into.

But anyway I suspect what's on his face is vallaslin.

The female could be human , but 1 she has those strange shiny eyes , remember Flemeth and Solas shiny eyes of doom?

She has strange veins , it reminds me of the forest spirit in DAO.

Human and Dalish tends to not spend time together .

They are casting some kind of spell , looking like an orb of light.

So I assume (out of nowhere and because it pleases me) the female is elven and has no vallaslin ...so Mythal!

So yeah.Chances are it's more or less random , and just meant to look cool. :(

If it is meant to represent them, it could imply a bad fate for a Well drinking Inquisitor.

Oh sorry I didn't pick up on that.

You mean the Idol could represent somekind of prophecy?

And yeah just checked and saw some armless guy in there too...

I do not know , it's hard to picture the devs putting something so precise in DA2 but who knows.

I would be happy about it , but we don't even know if the Inqui is ever coming back and in what form.

If he does come back ,well or no , he is after Solas , and will have to deal with ancient elven gods business no matter what.

They said they had 5 games outlined when they started DAO and Solas creating the Veil was already planned along with Flemeth being Mythal, so it's possible. Also Sandal tells us of Solas' plans in DA2 before he wakes up. I learned that anything odd in a DA game is not just for decoration.  ;)

And since I was just looking at the screenshots I took there here are some other interesting Cole quotes: "The stone sings. The song scares them. It's the wrong song, the wrong blood. They don't know how we stand it."

This is the most interesting Cole quote I've read... ever. Holy crap. If this was about darkspawn hearing the Titan song it would be solid proof concerning my theory of why they didn't want to venture into the Wellspring

i.e.The stone sings. The song scares darkspawn, it's the wrong song (the song is not the calling) the wrong blood (Titan's blood instead of the "taint").

The same could be said about red lyrium. The subject would be Dwarves however instead of Darkspawn. i.e.

"The stone sings. The song scares Dwarves. It's the wrong song, the wrong blood (tainted Titan blood). They don't know how we stand it."

Since neither darkspawn or red lyrium were present however, both are viable, though darkspawn are more likely because the Titan (given the lyrium well) is clearly not infected. Whatever the case it has to be related with what the Elves unleashed and however they tampered with the Titan.

It could also be that it's talking about what Mythal did to the Dwarves after she felled the Titans i.e. giving them "dreams". Perhaps like I theorized, once she tried to subjugate them they felt wrong.

"The stone sings. The song scares Elvhen people. It's the wrong song, the wrong blood. They don't know how Dwarves stand it."

Why is this important?

It's the wrong song, the wrong blood. That is a huge reveal. The only other "song" (other than that of Titan's blood) which we know of is the calling.

Crappers! I wonder whether this means that the Elvhen people tried to create a being from their blood by experimenting with Titans which eventually polluted them. I would have suggested Dragons since they are also linked to The Fade and great Dragon blood is especially powerful, but their blood has never been described as "singing". The only time that something like that was mentioned was when Yavana said to Alistair about his blood

"Your heart beats with the old blood, as well. Where do you think it comes from? It sings of a time when dragons ruled the skies. A time before the Veil, before the mysteries were forgotten. Can you hear it"

She also says "The blood of dragons is the blood of the world"

I'm going to think on this. I'm really wondering what is whispering. How would dragon blood have turned into something like the "taint" if it truly was its source. Is it really another "primordial" being which hasn't been accounted for like "the sun" or did mixing dragon blood perhaps with Titan blood create the "taint".

Yavana also talks of a time when everything "sang" the same.

I suggested they might have accidentally made Darkspawn.

I only think that because of Mother in DAA and how she went crazy when she awoke and couldn't hear the song anymore. It seems somehow connected to the Titans even if it's not directly.

But I do apologize for the subject change. It just reminded me of that.

No problem I agree.

What I was trying to emphasize is the nature of the blight.

it's kind of being confirmed as being blood. Imagine the reveal when we learned lyrium was Titan's blood. I mean, we all marked the similarities between Lyrium, the Dwarves' stone sense and Darkspawn with the Calling. But this quote confirms that. The only other source of singing is the calling.

to quote Varric... Well, S*H*I*T! if the taint is referenced in Cole's quote as blood, it very well came from something that bleeds. Since the taint also corrupts spirits and corrupts the "soul" (my personal belief) then my suspicion is that its origin in fact lies within The Fade.

If dragon's ruled the skies i.e. The Fade and their blood is extremely powerful and "old' and darkspawn specifically search for the "Old Gods" i.e. Great Dragons to corrupt them, then I can't help but think there is a strong freakin link between the blight and dragons! This quote is kind of the key.

Anyways, I might be overlooking something or blowing the significance of the quote out of proportions but it speaks to me and it feels like a "missing link" something to help tie the theory thread together.

It makes perfect sense to me, also Valta hears a song from a Titan and is drawn to it like a Darkspawn hears the song of an Old God and Solas said killing an OG might make things worse, so I suspect he might possibly be confirming your theory about their blood.

Well there is something there, whatever it is, I've gotta let my brain marinate. I'm gonna rock a bit of inquisition before going to bed or read more of WoT:2 and see what happens. Anyways I'm glad this thread is getting love. Pretty awesome theorists here.

I just did that myself and saw things a lot differently after Trespasser. It felt good and helped refresh my mind, that's why I joined this awesome thread!

About darkpawn and blood etc...

Here's some Architect quote in the Calling.

"The Old Gods beckon, as they always have .(...)It whispers to our blood and compels us to seek the Old Gods out.(...) when we find one , we touch the face of perfection and thus desecrate it forever."(page 128)

"(....)All I know is that the call of the Old Gods is a thing of perfection.(...) We are things of darkness (...)To us the call is the only light we shall ever know."

So the blight comes from dragons. What kind of implications does that have? Does this explain why Corypheus needs a dragon to reincarnate?

Demons are weak to dragon blood, supposedly.

The blight is weak to corrupted hearts, and silverite as I've just discovered; apparently the metal doesn't rust and is good at resisting poison (also the architect's lair is in Silverite Mine).

And if the well whispers are true, "Mythal speaks the calling".. she is depicted as a dragon.

It could be dragon blood although , there is two type of Blight , one carried by the lyrium , and the other carried by people and darkspawn.

It seems Corypheus may have seen the true "Blight  aka "only chaos and dead whispers."

There is nothing like this in Thedas  that I've ever heard of .

There is a difference between Red Lyrium and the taint from the Golden City.A behemoth is not a darkspawn , both are creatures of the blight though.

They also spawn in different manner , to get a Behemoth , you need to feed someone Red Lyrium , the red lyrium will eat the person and grow .

Darkspawn are able to reproduce , I won't say the normal way because ewww...but somewhat close enough.

The next bad thing is they need mortal female to do that so the disturbing though here is ...people might be closer to darkspawn than we know.

Dammit Rez, I'm trying to sleep here, stop wagging a carrot on a stick in my face! :P  I keep running but never catch it... <_<

The difference between the taint and Red lyrium is... Lyrium.

A behemoth is not a darkspawn because of...Lyrium. it channels the taint in a different way.

The lyrium is tainted but it can't infect people the way darkspawn do (i.e. turn them into ghouls). It seems that once the taint corrupts Titan blood it becomes...trapped (meaning it can't infect other living beings, only the lyrium can). One of Cole's comments about red Lyrium is this

"The song is different, but the pieces fit together".

That would imply that both songs... change each other and become something else entirely. That explains the taint not infecting in the same way through lyrium. The key is the Titan song emanating from the lyrium somehow affects the "calling" and vice versa. That is why the "negative" effects of lyrium are amplified in Red lyrium. Since I think the "taint" is "a corruption of the soul" it would also explain why red lyrium can affect mortals without "physically" touching them (unlike normal lyrium, which needs to make physical contact to affect you psychologically). I've already stated this but it makes more sense now than ever...

I get what you're saying there ,but unless the taint is a natural disease in Titans ...they have something in common with whatever the hell was in that freaking Golden City (sorry but I'm crying inside , it's been what 6 years I'm waiting to find out about that bloody city and those bloody Old Gods.../breathe ...maybe in a couple of years.../breathe)

Also Corypheus that special snowflake darkspawn somehow knew about red lyrium , because he went after Bianca , and then made himself a red lyrium dragon , and that thing is annoying because it looks like an old god ( infected by darkspawn ) but is infected by red lyrium...and that stupid dragon doesn't grow lyrium crystals .I know dragons have a somewhat bizarre resistance.

And Cory just ...man Cory , he could have been great about the lore .But no.

Anyway I drank coffee today. And coffee is evil.

Ok. Last reply then I'm outtie.

I agree it has something in common with what was released from the Golden city, but remember, we don't know when the blight/taint was locked up in the golden city. My point was that red lyrium is the factor that changes the taint i.e. how it interacts with mortals.

Whatever infected the Titans was the same thing that was brought down my the Magisters from The fade into the "unchanging world".

Since we know red lyrium was around before that happened there are only two logical conclusions.

One. The blight was locked in the Golden City after it was created or unleashed by the Elvhen People/Envanuris/Forgotten Ones and after it infected some Titans.

Two. The blight locked in The Golden City was caused by a separate event than what infected the Titans but stems from the same place/thing.

As for Corypheus, you've got it backwards.

Corypheus found out about red lyrium only because Bianca tried to reach out to a Grey Warden mage. Since Corypheus was posing as a Grey Warden after the events that transpired in the Dragon Age II DLC, he manipulated and used Bianca to access what she found. This is when he learned that lyrium could be infected by the blight and used that to his advantage. It's also when and how he was able to infuse a high dragon with red lyrium.

Remember, dragons are resistant to the taint, not lyrium. They can fight off the effects of the taint, but not indefinitely.

Now add something that is known to either nullify (Templar) or enhance (Mage) magic and is probably the antithesis of dragons (Titans) i.e. Lyrium (Titan's blood) and you get the perfect tool to infect a Dragon (red lyrium).

We also know Red lyrium thins the veil (which is powered by Elvhen i.e. Fade Magic) and that it is described as "being an anti-magic substance, an opposite force to regular lyrium"

If Dragons are primordial beings of The Fade that can also resist the blight, then what better way to corrupt them then by using Red Lyrium... think about it!

It makes perfect sense.

I had nothing to contribute for the past 5 pages or so,  but you guys are great.

I've been sick for the past week and I just wake up in the... morning..ish... and read all your posts.

My sick brain can't really come up with ideas though.

By the way, that artwork

Jumping to something else , because that's what I tend to do , sorry...

There's this artwork from the DAI codex , I've been finding peculiar since day1 .

Spoiler

Don't laugh but my theory is it's Mythal and Fen Harel.

What codex is that from?
I won't lie, although it is just an artwork and probably means nothing, that male elf looks very Solas-y and that woman is very dragon-y.

Edit: Just.. LOL

Spoiler

Searching for the image in google makes google suggest Fen'Harel XD
