Just a few things I've been thinking of lately having played Trespasser. We know that Patrick Weekes has said that if they are to do another DA, they will give closure to Solas' story. So with that out of the way, does anyone see this ending well at all?

I know you have the option to pursue him in order to kill him, or redeem him. I just don't see how he gets out of it alive though, regardless of what you choose. We know that he intends to merge the fade and the real world. We also know that his plans never go how he predicts them to, whether it's the loss of his people in his efforts to free them, or the whole corypheus situation. He tells Cole that he thought he was far wiser than he was in his younger years, but it still seems as if that's the case even now given DAI takes place after he awakes from his sleep.

While he may be trying to merge the world and the fade into one to bring back his people, I have a feeling it won't bring the desired effect. We got hints that not only are the other evanuris alive, but they plan to kill him once released. I think if anything his efforts will only bring about their un-banishment and they will kill him in revenge, and then plot to do some other bad guy stuff. Does anyone else feel like it will end with his death either way?

Also a somewhat related question, did Abelas know who Solas was? If he was indeed one of the ancient elves, he would recognize him right? Is that what he's implying with the "Elvhen such as you?" comment? And could Solas' "other duties" comment allude to what he's trying to do in Trespasser?

You're not the only one who suspects that this will end in his death either way. The redemption angle is far-fetched to begin with given how off the charts his plans are, the other "gods" are still out there and no doubt apocalyptically p*ssed off, Mythal will probably extract a price from Solas for letting him kill her host instead of flattening him as she easily could have done, and generally speaking his actions always seem to have side-effects that he either didn't consider at all or that were more severe than he thought they would be. If memory serves, Weekes did call him a tragic character who wasn't suited for happy endings, or something like that.

At best I can see him getting some kind of "redemptive death" after the Inquisitor (and possibly others he was close to, Cole being a prime candidate) finally manage to change his mind ... if that is what we choose to try instead of gunning for his head ourselves.

The obvious will probably be there; Solas dies. However, I care nothing for it and I am more interested in the alternative, yes redemption. I predict Solas is fated for the same path as the Evanuris, though I would prefer something else: sorrowful but happy, Faded.

"His friend had to die because he thought they were people, a slow arrow breaks in the sad wolf's jaw."

Solas path may not have started the same as the Evanuris but it certainly echoing them now as other paths echoed them: "He spoke to me later in the day, and asked that I call him Corypheus, as it was the name he would take for himself after a ritual. Master - now Corypheus." War, the fear of it, the terrors, it certainly breeds unique opportunities. "Generals became respected Elders, then Kings, and finally Gods. The Evanuris."

I have never been a fanboy of Solas, had I been one of his people freed from the vallaslin I would not take arms up against the Evanuris, I would walk away. I respect Solas's ideas, I think him brave, but the fire is fading. He showed his people a different way to be, help them be a different way, I believe the same could be done for him and her. There is usually two choices in the end, I predict Bioware will screw it up. <- Final prediction.

I don't know about him dying. They've made a point to say Evanuris are almost impossible to truly kill. I feel like the same is likely true of Solas.

I expect that we could see him get locked away with the rest of the Evanuris. Though I would rather kill him. I feel being locked away would be harsh.
