I'm going to rename my team the fighting Methuselah's.  Old men Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Smith, and D'Angelo Williams came up huge for me while I sat higher draft picks on the bench (CJ Anderson, Brandin Cooks, Jeremy Maclin).  I was shocked Williams was available and went undrafted, other two were late round flyers.  Also have old balls Frank Gore tonight.

Anyone getting a bit antsy with Andy Reid yet or is he still getting full support?

Full support, we love him.  Takes accountability with bad coaching job.  Not his fault Eric Fisher is a Nancy-boy

It is if he was a big part of drafting him.  Reid likes to be a big part of player selection so he has to own some of it.

As for last night, I may have lost my FF game but at least  J-E-T-S,  JETS, JETS, JETS, JETS!!!!!

Yeahhh. Too bad our division sucks. We might of had a chance at a top 10 pick.

Manziel looked serviceable.

It depends on what you want from the season.  Dallas still has a great chance to make the playoffs.  Even if Weeden costs you 3 games in a six week span (not out of the question), that still puts Dallas at 5-3 with Romo coming back for the stretch run.  Even if Weeden costs than 4 out of 6, that still puts them at .500 in a bad division.

With how bad the division is, they could still take the division, especially since they have the beginnings of tie breakers against NY and Philly.

If you were hoping for a superbowl run, this is probably not the year.  Dez not being 100%, plus probably no chance at the 1 or 2 seed.

As a Browns fan, winning the division is more than I ask for.  With Dallas being a preseason superbowl contender, that hurts.

And while I don't play fantasy football, I live in a place where gambling is legal, and I have a couple future bets that look ok.  My favorites were NE over 10.5 wins (this was before Brady was reinstated) which looks like a lock barring some terrible injuries; and Tampa Bay under 6.5, which I still really like.  Hard to see that team winning 6 more times.

One of my buddies is a big gambler, and I told him I really liked Jacksonville on weekly bets to cover until the line catches up with the team.  I don't think they will win 10 games, but I could see them easily covering 10+ times.

EDIT: completely forgot why I quoted this post.

I was at the game on Sunday, and Manziel looked ok.  They really, really had the training wheels on.  Wouldn't let him throw on first or second down after the first quarter.  Also, mostly safe throws on third down.

I have mixed feelings about going back to McCown.  It if gets them to 7 to 9 wins, and the coach keeps his job, fantastic.  If Pettine gets fired at the end of the season, then they should have just played JFF.  And I think firing Pettine would be the worst mistake they could make.

Also, WTF@ at Tennessee punting to Benjamin.  At the game, you could see how close he was to breaking a kick on the first couple he fielded.  They should never have given him a returnable kick.

Indeed.  There was hints of it two years ago, but last year was completely lost.  His career average yards per catch has always been very high.

I'm not sure how he fits into a McCown offense, but at least he has his confidence back for punt returns.  He had a terrible case of the drops last year fielding punts.

EDIT: To put the punt return problems in context, last year for awhile, they just had Jim Leonard, their backup safety, fair catch every punt to minimize the damage that was being self inflicted.  How depressing is that, you can't even properly field punts so you have to fair catch everything.

Meh. His lack a of targets are troublesome. Once defenses key in on him as their only deep threat, he'll get lost in obscurity (especially in points per reception leagues).

If they force 8 in the box because of the threat of the run, if you double team Benjamin, you let Hawkins and Moore and Hartline run open over the middle and in the intermediate zones.

This isn't a bad offense if they can establish the run and feast off the play action pass.

Of course that's always the trick.

Probably quite true but if nothing else the Browns have been able to go deep often that last few years.  ie Josh Gordon.  (What a waste of talent)

Cleveland's rushing stats have been subpar at best (ranked 16th in league).  You can't fool defenses with playaction if they're not worried about your ground game.

Point is, T. Benjamin is nothing more than a bottom roster filler - can't be counted on for consistent numbers each week.

Are you speaking from a fantasy football perspective?  If so, then I agree.

Are you speaking from an NFL impact perspective?  If so, then I think that's a gross oversimplification that I would assume results from not watching many Browns games over the last 4 years.  And no rational person that isn't a huge Browns fan should have subjected themselves to many Browns games.

I'm not suggesting that he's going to suddenly turn into Odell Beckham or Julio Jones.

But with better QB play, I think he could turn into a good complimentary #2 or #3 receiver.  A Torrey Smith-lite.

The title of the thread is "DAMP Fantasy Football Talk," so I assumed that's what we're primarily discussing.

He could end up with a productive career, but not with the Browns.  Can you name any notable Brown's receiver in recent years?  (Braylon Edwards and Dennis Northcutt don't count).

Cleveland's had over 20 different starting quarterbacks since 2000.

That place is a cesspool for skill players.

Edit: I've been participating in a highstakes fantasy keeper league for over 10 years (entry fee is currently $200).  I've watched plenty of insignificant games over the years (including the Browns) in order to keep up with all of the injuries and roster changes.

I was born and raised in Cleveland so I can name most of their receivers, pre and post 1999.

Cameron Jordan, Josh Gordon, Josh Cribbs, Kellen Winslow, Antonio Bryant.  (Yes, I technically cheated and added two tightends, but those guys never blocked anyway).  Overall, pretty barren.  But that was likely more due to QB play than actual receiver talent.

And yeah, the title is fantasy football, but real football talk has bled in, and those two things tend to be very different things.

I think you missed the part where I said "notable" receivers.  T. Benjamin is going to be a fantasy dud as long as he's in Cleveland.

He would make great trade bait at the moment, however.  You might be able to sell high given his week 2 performance.

Antonio Bryant 69/1,009 (14.6) w/ 4 TDs

Jordan Cameron 80/917 (11.5) 7

Josh Gordon 87/1,646 (18.9) 9

Kellen Winslow 82/1,106 (13.5) 5

Nobody super, but part of that is QB play.

No one really thinks Larry Fitzgerald sucked the last two years, but is suddenly good again this year.

And the Browns can't trade the rabbit.  They are all in on trying to get to .500 this year, even if McCown probably won't attack down field in the same way.

He probably will suck in fantasy, but he is a good part of an offense in real football.

Well done, you can attach a gif. Maybe you should actually go and watch some football though because none of those GIFs are from PL games

Not sure what you're trying to argue here.  Are those numbers supposed to impress me?  As you mentioned, Cameron and Winslow are TE's and were basically used as safety valves for QB's who were clueless.  Also, all of those seasons were singular - no one was able to come close to those numbers the next year, or any other season with the Browns.

If you're trying to say Benjamin is going to have a long, lustrous career with Cleveland, I salute your undying loyalty to the Dog Pound.

I've watched plenty.  Caught some of the Fiorentina vs Bologna match.  If you don't think unnecessary diving has plagued the game, you're delusional.
