Bleeding and how it works.

So how does it work?
Bleeding is a condition that stacks and deals damage over time. This damage seems to scale only with level as i havent seen any variations on the damage ticks, regardless of attack%, or damagemodifiers. It actually deals 5 damage per level, per stack and tick. So e.g. a level 10 char that applies 10 stacks of bleed will deal 500 damage per tick. It is visually able to crit, but it actually doesnt increased damage on critical ticks, so lets assume this is a visual bug and bleeds can not critical hit. Bleeds can stack up unlimited? (highest stacks i have seen was 44) but they seem to cap at 20 stacks damage wise. (44 bleeding stacks dealt the same damage as 20).
How to apply it?
There are many different ways to apply bleed but i have only found one spell so far that was able to stack bleeds into regions where it actually starts to matter and this is the new upgrade of caltrops. I am not sure how it exactly works as it is somewhat inconsistent (may be a matter of terrain, hidden enemy resistances, idk) but enemies have to move a little in caltrops to stack bleeds fast and high. E.g. a stationary target will not stack bleeds as much as moving targets.
Conclusion.
The new upgrade to caltrops is a very strong aoe condition that doesnt need any amounts of stats to deal very good damage if used properly. If you can stack up the mobs you are fighting it is one of the best aoe damage in the game and can melt large amounts of mobs even with high physical/elemental resistances.
One last important note, the only dragon i tried to fight so far was ferelden frostback and he did not receive a single stack of bleed at all.

I don't think the game counts bleed visual bug crits as real crits. From initial observation, bleed upgraded caltrops were not reducing my CD's as an Artificer.

They said as much, though.

First of all, i havent played for a while, but for the time i played bleeding never really existed in the game. After my hiatus and the download of trespasser, bleeding now exists in the form of a (new) condition that damages affected enemies periodically. Keep in mind all my findings are based on a limited amount of testing.

Well that is bleeding confusing! Since Sunder (aka Bleeding) doesn't do damage at all.
