People wanted it, so here it is. It will be interesting to get some data on this.

Feel free to comment and explain WHY you chose what you did.

(sorry if there is one already)

It's been brought to my attention that i should have put "Duel protag" on my Poll, but i forgot. Don't know if i can change is, so just comment with that vote and i will calculate it myself in about a week. I'll update it every Sunday. But to be honest i somehow see that as the least likely option

Another question i would like to ask: If one side has a big majority, would you accept it?

Currently

Yes, their story isn't done 47%

No, it's done 44%

Don't care, but it would be nice 5%

Don't care, but i would prefer not to 2%

Current vote total: 213

I think that just one game with each protagonist isn't enough, and now that the Inquisitor lost an arm, that can be a plot device to make him start the next game as a level 1 having to learn how to fight again, like Jaime Lannister.

If I may present a suggestion, perhaps you could add a 'dual protagonist' option to your poll? I know there are some who have expressed an interest in having dual protagonist but a disinterest in playing only a new protagonist or only playing an old protagonist.

I am curious to see the result of this poll.

That would have been a good idea. I sort of forgot about it. I think i had "Solas' story" on my brain so only though of the Inquisitor. However if people write that vote down here, i will calculate it into the poll myself and put it on the OP.

No. She lost an arm. Good luck shooting a bow with that. It makes sense to have the inquisitor be an important NPC in some capacity, which is what I hope they do, but having them return as the PC in the next game is just silly.

I do like the idea of a dual protagonist at some point in the future though.

As much as I would love that.  As attached as I have grown to Kara.  And as attached I have grown to the Inquisitor and Tresspasser has left me clamoring for more...no.  I think their time is sadly done especially because of the whole armless thing.  I would love to step into her shoes again but it may be important to leave them to rest and enjoy semi-retirement.  But, a major NPC in the next game?  Definitely.

We can buy another one

I'm in favor of the Inquisitor coming back as the protagonist as I've grown attached to my female Dalish Levellan. I feel that her tragic love story with the dread wolf isn't quite finished yet.

It's really interesting how definite yes and definite no are pretty much neck and neck. I wonder if it will change haha

I would prefer the dual protagonist approach, but if pressed I'll say new protagonist (With the understanding that the Inquisitor will still be part of the plot as a Chessmaster-style NPC)

You know if BioWare does continue to create such awesome role playing proragonists I might run out of room in my heart for them all.

Yeah I'm one of these people. Heck I'd even have a game divided in 3/4 parts, with HoF, Hawke (if not dead) and Inquisitor, and maybe a new Vint protagonist... Or just the Vint Protagonist and the other 3 as pre-release content or DLCs..
Dunno how much it would be possible but I think it would be great :P

Tell me about it. But it speaks highly of their skills for them to make us so attached to their characters so easily

I voted yes.

Dagna is currently crafting a mechanical arm for the Inquisitor. It will be ready for action when DA4 is released. It will have the strength of a giant's arm. Excellent. The Inquisitor will track down the clown calling itself Solas.

You know it warms my heart to see people wanting the Inquisitor's journey to continue after all the flack they've recieved. :) Like I said every fiber in my being and personal feeling after Tresspassers says, yes, I wanna continue, but I just think from a story perspective, and the story BioWare is trying to tell, it does not make much sense and we're going to have to let them go. :(

In a sense i agree. But story wise it would be stronger to let the one the story started with, and the story connects with, to be the one to complete it. If not for Solas, i wouldn't care at all. Bioware's preference and omniscience may mean it is impossible, though. And i won't be thrilled about that, but i'll still play.

I voted the top choice cause I really do feel like the inquisitor should be the one to deal with the ending of Solas' storyline.  Though I really doubt they will bring the inquisitor back sadly.  It seems far more likely that he/she will be working behind the scenes and we'll be playing as a new member of his team (or the Inquisition if not disbanded) to stop Solas.  It won't be as satisfying as getting closure with our inquisitors, but it will work all the same.

I think especially with Trespasser the story of the Inquisitor is really not over. Quizzy should be playable in DA 4 one way or other. So, I would prefer a dual protagonist for the next game.

Some people already suggested it: New PC for the main action, interspersed with Inquisitor perhaps doing more War Table like missions. Witcher 3 pulled it of. I think Bioware can.

I don't think, the players really have a vote, but if Bioware decides against it, I don't think it would stop me from buying DA4. I am a pretty accepting person. The only dealbreaker for me is forced death of the protagonist.

Sorry i forgot to add the duel protag option. I hope i had an option that at least suited your position a little.

Well sometimes bad things happen to real people which makes it hard for them to finish their goals.  Sure again from a story perspective it does make a lot of sense to have the Inquisitor finish what they start.  But it is clear what BioWare is trying to do by making the Inquisitor's arm gone.  Again don't get me wrong I hate it and I would be THRILLED to be wrong.  But, there we have it. :P

I know, i got what you meant. But if they believe it will suit the story (and perhaps if they knew some fans wouldn't be out for blood) they could find a way. In a world of magic, it could be done convincingly. We'll see, i guess. But it's nice to know the Inquisitor is loved.

I'm really interested in the dual protagonist approach (it would make perfect narrative sense given Trespasser's ending). Maybe with the Inquisitor doing War Table/tactical planning/etc portions of the game, and a new PC doing the exploration/traditional questing portions?

On the dual protag front I could see them going the route of making the Inquisitor playable during the prolog.  To pass over the torch so to speak.
