So I've found something strange in my Trespasser playthrough

 

In Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts, I've finished the quest with Celene ruling along side Briala, and Gaspard executed. But in Exalted Council of Trespasser DLC, I've heard people said something like "We're the one who put Gaspard on the throne." (sorry I could not recall the exact line) and they also called him with the term "Emperor".

 

Have any of you encounter something like this? It surely seemed like a bug, yet I want to be certain. Maybe I was too excited about meeting Solas, and had no idea Gaspard overthrew Celene. lol

I think everyone has this issue.  In fact you even see Gaspard at some point in the DLC.  It stinks.  He's supposed to be dead unless you spared him.  I could see him successfully managing a takeover if you spared him, but otherwise...?

 

It's a major bug.  I hope they release at least one more patch to fix the glitches in Trespasser and maybe a few more in the SP part of the main game/other DLCs.

Even if got a 3-Way Pact it still says Gaspard.

 

Im not really mad at that as I personally wanted him to rule, I just believe the 3-Way pact is canon to me.

 

Any way its just a lil annoying, are there any plans for a patch? any patch??

No idea if there are plans for a patch, but considering there are other glitches (apparently if Vivienne is Divine you can't talk to her or your game crashes?) and the whole "let's disregard player choice" thing is a pretty major glitch, let's hope that they do at least release some kind of hotfix within the next few weeks.

Agreed. This is quite a serious glitch, considering main delight comes from observing results of our choices. If everyone has encounter this problem as you said, it would likely be fixed soon.

My first PT in Trespasser I had the same exact thing happen, which was annoying because I found a codex which specifically talked about Celene and Brialla. Then that one scene at the meeting happened and silly Tegan said Gespard was the ruler :/ Anywho, currently doing a PT where I did have Gespard ruling but I do hope they get that sorted before I move on to the others.

Yeah I had the 3 way pact & it said Gaspard instead. Hopefully that bug will be fixed.

I think this is should be considered a pretty important issue - it certainly is for me personally.

 

I can't make myself progress until it is sorted.

Yea I haven't seen anything about a fix. I have seen some people get the dialogue which references Celene in power so it definitely isn't affecting everyone; I'm actually wondering if it might only affect PTs where you reunited Celene and Briala and not just any PT where someone aside from Gespard is in control. It's definitely frustrating though.

Ah thanks that's good to know. I guess for now I'll plan on doing my PTs where either he is in power or where Celene is ruling alone.

Ah, gotcha.

I think I just worded it badly. Sorry, playing and posting at the same time is not the wisest thing.

"Trying, looking into it, are aware of that." I seriously should use one of those words.

 

I personally have no issue with ruler bug. I mean, I didn't even pay much attention to it.

But I see why some people may want to wait for patch, even if only to fix this dialogue (not talking about other bugs that apparently are there).

It's a bug. Teagan always says Gaspard sits on the throne even if the latter actually doesn't and even if he is dead. Hell in my playthrough, where I reconciled Celene with Briala, I still got that line but at the same times there were letters lying around, which stated Empress Celene recently arrived shortly followed by Marquise Briala.

 

I just headcanon that Teagan hasn't prepared for this meeting at all and is just making wild guesses about everything, including who even is the ruler of Orlais. Boy, the guy should really have paid better attention during the briefing back in Fereldan.

That or Gaspard has some hidden talents that allow him to return form the dead.

It does, just tested. Teagan comments about Celene being on the throne and her 'elven marquise' (I reconciled them).
