Why Josephine's romance is, in my opinion, the worst one I've ever played

I'm doing it now and enjoying it quite a bit as a slightly tongue in cheek but ultimately sincere homage to old swashbucklers. Duels, twirling the LI, literal one foot on the floor. And the scenes in her quarters are very sweet. I believe she and my Cadash will be quite happy.

That's a better way of putting it.

It's possible because Solas' otherworldliness makes him seem like a fundamentally less sexual being? I'm not attracted to men and couldn't say directly, but that would be my guess.

Going off my feelings and things, *ahem*, posts in the Solas thread I would say it's not that he is viewed as a less sexual being ;)

I think they were referring to just the OP, who has complained numerous times specifically about the lack of a sex scene in the Josephine thread.

Oh, ok I didn't know that :)

He strikes me as very sexual, personally. He references it quite a few times, not to mention that every time he smooches Lavellan, he holds on to her butt as if it were a pair of stress balls during a final exam. Maybe Solas just have more juicy fanfiction written about him - female LI's tend to get a lot less.

This.

If anything, Solas romancers as a whole not being terribly upset about the lack of sex scene comes down to two things - he's already fairly sexual (see: above, "indominable focus", "getting you into bed", etc.) and before Trespasser was released

Yeah, I think I read somewhere that mr. Weekes meant for it to be ambiguous so it could be interpreted either way. I think. Don't quote me on that,

The dream lives on, Solavellan fans! :P

Solas: He leaves, turns out to be the Dread Wolf, reveals his plan to destroy the world, removes your arm.

Yeah... Solas definitely takes the cake in this particular competition.

Have not looked into the romance with Josie yet, but the attraction she has for the Inq may be the same as I have for her character; she has some. Character.

That, and she has power, but does not wield it as a club, but more as a rapier tipped pen. She is great at her job, loves her family, flaws and all, and represents the Inquisition well. And it is possible that she sees much the same in the Inq.

There seems to be something of a double standard when it comes to Josie's and Solas's romances. From what I've seen from the Solasmancers they couldn't give a fig less about whenever they got to shag Solas or not, but for Josie it's a big deal.

Weird.

One is primarily romanced by women, who tend not to be vocal about not having a sex scene (whether they actually care or not), and one is primarily romanced by men, who are more vocal. People might get really angry at me now, but that's what I've seen over the course of my life so far.

Maybe it wasn't the smartest thing to challenge a renowned duelist, but since it was not a duel to the death i don't see how it goes completely against everything Josie stands for.

her concern was for the Inquisitor, both the potential for scandal as well as the possibility that the Inquisitor could be badly injured or even killed.  Accidents are always possible, after all

Of course, my qunari inquisitor, a battle-hardened warrior-mercenary, probably could have just decked him Mal Reynolds-style, and be done with it ... B)

He had reason to be confident, then. My Trevelyan mage was a teensy bit more nervous.  But, she didn't do too poorly. Maybe they have "duel-with-antivans-in-an-appropriately-dramatic-fashion-for-the-favor-of-your-lady-love" classes in the Circle.

I expected the option to be given during the scene.

Then I discovered that Lord Otranto was a pretty decent guy and was fine with everyone parting on good terms.

I can't help but shake the feeling that the romance was originally designed as one for a straight guy and then expanded out.

I've done her romance as a woman and a man and the whole thing just read so much better to me with a male inquisitor.

I will never turn down a chance for a good swordfight. Josie's romance wasn't for you and that's fine. There are seven other options. One of them will probably work even if you have to play something other than your preferred gender/orientation.

Solas' romance delivers in spades on intensity and drama, so I think people don't miss the sex scene so much.

Though I wouldn't want every romance available to be quite that dramatic.

While I could do with a lot less Disney and ambiguity in her romance arc, I quite liked the duel scene. I thought it was one of the better romance scenes in the series.

On a side note, I'm hoping Duke Otranto makes an appearance in DA4.
