I can't for the life of me understand why there isn't one.
Feature request: Add a faction selector in the lobby settings, OR award different amounts of XP for each faction

I've always wondered, how high was the guy that said "let's not give players faction selection, people love games with LESS options en choices!".
They weren't high, they were busy writing amazing tooltips.

I get the idea was to have the Qunari be challenging and all but they have gone over board with the immunities and in my mind just did not think them out enough in a few cases.
My 1st encounter with the Qun was a solo threatening game I started last night, no one joined until half way through wave 4. My class? A first level Necromancer, having some key enemies with total immunity to two of a classes base abilities is just bad. It's bad enough that the average mook in these new factions is given an either or immunity to things but when you give it to their assassin class and their power mage class the player is pretty well f'd. I survived to level 4 by running away a LOT and pew pewing them with my mighty 150 point so damage per shot staff. Once the lobby filled it was manageable up until wave five when we just got destroyed in about 20 seconds.
Taking away spell casters crowd control is going to make those factions a mere dps fighter slug fest. And since we can't pick factions we play.......

Demons... well I still don't understand why they're so weak. They've always been weak, by a very very very large margin at that. The only "difficult" thing about them was the Demon Commander, but now he's been "rectified" as he was ridiculously OP at the beginning. Sadly, the rest of the faction wasn't buffed to compensate. And when I say they should buff Demons, I'm not saying they should add 40 Despair demons... I think they should concentrate on the low tier units, when is the last time a Wraith (normal, cold or electricity) ever give you any trouble?
I'd like to point out that this mainly seems to apply on Nightmare/Heartbreaker (*maybe* Perilous in some cases) -- and that's due to the armor buffs (and armor being flat reduction). If you have the purple armor on Threatening then you're going to probably get hit for 1-20 damage by enemy archers (heavy armor with +20% armor talent will be taking one, light armor will be taking more) while Wraiths/Despair Demons/etc will wreck your face with their armor ignoring magic attacks.
Which makes it weird when you go into Nightmare and suddenly the RT/Ven archers you could mostly ignore are suddenly wrecking your face while the Wraiths aren't nearly as bad (relatively speaking).
This also heavily applies to lower promoted players -- I know people (including myself) who have been tempted to grind Willpower solely for the magic reduction alone because on Threatening/Perilous it's nearly always the magic attacks that are particularly dangerous.
TL;DR: armor should be a percent reduction rather than a flat amount.

I dont think that´s the reason. I (and many others) hated being stuned all the time against geth.
And i´m just repeating myself, what does it matter to BW if some choose to do so, the players are the people who should enjoy the game as they wish.
Constantly dealing with factions you don´t want or like or just to often is already covered by real live.

So they promptly made FC nightmare the only map to get the hakkon weapons from thus making any quick match in nighmare FBWGG.

There definitely should be a faction selector. In fact it should be reversed:
We should be able to choose the faction, not choose the map.
Defo, we have more factions than maps, so why not switch the choice around?

Just tried to get qunari solo match to test something ... after the 9th time of restarting and quitting i gave up. To hell with that and went to a public game ..... qunari ... after the commander commited suicide I started a new solo try ... RT , ventis, ventis, DS, went to a public... qunari .... all this random bulls.... not funny.

The constant stunlock was after they "fixed" Geth so that FBWGG wasn't the easy option it used to be.
As to NM FC then 90% of people are doing it for the same reason so no constant moans about it.
But if Chateau Demons Peri was the easiest option and 40% of the pugs started playing that for easy Gold/Xp then BSN would be flooded with WTF I can only get etc.

Come to think of it, wouldn't this be a better compromise than nerfing enemies?
We get to pick factions that require a less precise team composition, and it won't inconvenience the other players who want the harder factions in all their glory. Random stays the same, and there's the incentive of Druffy faction if you go play random.
Or I guess that is too much work...

it took me over 20 matches to get anything other than qunari yesterday, after the first 3 I gave up trying to grind promotions on a particular char swapped to reaver and then lagged out several times trying to solo wave 3 ......... then magically got locked out of the game (error unable to download database) wwith 2 mobs left on wave 5 yeah
still I actually managed to finish a game and kill the commander and finally got venatori 4 games in a row ...... something bad has happened to the servers and they no longer change the faction often enough ....

Depending on what? which player ? the leader? makes only sense if a group stays together for many many matches without changing host.
Maybe time of the day ... so Darkspawn only at high noon ![]()
