I understand that companies need to make money. However, I have never seen such a ludicrous concept of Bioware Points being implemented in my brief life of video gaming.

I recently bought the Mass Effect Trilogy for $15 during the sale which EA/Origin was kind enough to provide on PC. I am an avid gamer and would like to experience a game with all the DLC's purchased. Ready with my wallet, I was going to buy the major DLC's. However upon looking further into the purchasing method, I stopped in my tracks. To purchase all the major DLCs of ME2 and ME3, it would cost a total of around 6000 Bioware Points, which is $80. 1600 BP = $20 AUD.

This whole concept of Bioware Points is bordering on a Scam and presumptuous of me to say, but also extortion. I am thankful of purchasing a trilogy which is now three years old from their latest game but who in their right mind would spend $80 to buy their DLCs. With that money I could purchase Dragon Age: Inquisition and other later titles but then their DLC's would also set me back quite more than necessary. The value for money of these DLC's are completely non-existant. Additionally, why on Earth is there no depreciation over DLC prices? How is that even possible and how does yourself and EA allow this to continue with no solution?

Don't get me wrong, I want to pay money for these DLC's. You provide a Good, I purchase it, makes sense. However, why would I purchase something the same price as it was released. Also, upon further research there hasn't been a sale of Bioware Points since 2011. Seriously Bioware? Microsoft and Sony give 50% of their DLC's on a regular basis. So why has there been a lack of BP sales for PC gamers? If there were sales, I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one who would purchase the BP and DLC's. At least introduce direct account payment so I don't waste money with leftover BP.

Lastly, why are gamers buying the DLC with these exorbitant prices. The fact that gamers are purchasing this allows Bioware and EA to justify that this model works, which is unethical to not reiterate the above.

Please Bioware, try and do something to address this situation. It isn't fair to the PC Gaming Community and we all don't have everlasting supply of money.

PS: I created this thread because EA and Bioware Support suggested that I post in the forums to enlighten Bioware about this issue. They said this issue hasn't been raised before, so I am just following their advice.

Yeah, it's stupid microtransaction, but they're not going to lift it off of the ME series. DA:I and any game after do not use Biower points anymore.

It took people complaining to remove them. It's not only a stupid Microtransaction it's money grabbing as you the DLC's don't work out to the amounts you can buy leaving you points left over

If newer titles are exempt from Bioware Points, why can't older titles also be removed from it?

I want answers from Bioware and/or EA about this. Will anyone from Bioware or EA reply and explain themselves?

Microtransactions work on the concept that you just pay money for the good you are purchasing, nothing more. The Bioware Point values are designed in such a way that you will always have left over points. That is seriously unprofessional and insulting of the PC gaming community.

Bump,

So I assume Bioware will just ignore this post hoping it will be just forgotten?

You have better chances to catch BioWare's attention over at Reddit, assuming your valid complaint doesn't get buried with stupid downvotes. Even so, still better chances than here I'm afraid.

Might be better off just writing a letter to them.  I think the problem is the legacy DLC is tied to that so tightly (especially the ME3 multiplayer) that it would be difficult to de-couple, and probably not worth the time for the amount of sales they'd get.

This is the problem with digital extras. There is no reason for them to depreciate in value.

Companies lower the price on the base game knowing they are going to make a fortune back on the DLC.

Even if they got rid of Bioware points, the DLC still wouldn't depreciate. They'd just put the same high price in real money on the content.

Well, I won't pass up an opportunity to ****** about BioWare points! They asked me for feedback on Origin a few weeks ago and I did it there too, complaining that the points never go on sale.

BioWare/EA are totally silent on this topic and I guess there are people out there that are paying these crazy prices for old DLC for old games. Rest assured though, I will stick to my guns on this and I can only hope there are others who do the same. I'm holding out some hope that maybe when Andromeda comes out they'll either put the points on sale or just bundle ME3 with its DLC. Some dialogue from EA on this issue would be great.

In the meantime my money will be going to games that are fair with their DLC pricing. I picked up Shadow of Mordor GOTY and Arkham Origins + DLC for $30 yesterday. It was great.

That's the thing BroBear, unless Bioware sell the games in a bundle with the DLC we won't see a reduction on it.

Back when they said future games wouldn't have Bio points the reason they gave for not  refunding people was somthing along the lines of it wasn't set up for refunds. Of course they ignored questions about removing the points for existing games.

Must be a nice cash booster for EA
