Hi All,

Are the new difficulty options available throughout the game or just the DLC? For example, can I have levelling scaling enemies with better skills from the minute I start a new game or is it only available in the new DLC?

Many thanks!

They're not Trespasser-restricted. In fact, some achievements require you to have them switched on from the beginning of your game or on early stages of it :)

The only requirement is that you have Trespasser DLC installed.

I should add I'm in love with Even Grounds, Walk Softly and Grizzy End.

Once the DLC is installed, the items, Trials, and much of the other content is available to all the Inq's.

Walk Softly and Rub Some Dirt On It make a huge difference in the prologue, haha. I definitely had that moment of "wait, why didn't I two-shot that wraith?" and then seconds later "oh hey, Cassandra's dead, I should have probably..."

YOUR JOURNEY HAS ENDED

"...saved my stealth."

Still, I'm determined to see how far this Cadash can make it with everything turned on. Nightmare, friendly fire, every trial. Looking forward to the loot shipments. :D

The loot shipments don't come as often as you might expect, even with all the trials turned on.

I just completed the Trial of the Fool achievement, and let me tell you, NEVER AGAIN. I was doing it on Casual, but In Your Heart Shall Burn at level 4 was nearly too much for me. Of course, it didn't help that I was doing it in all found gear because I didn't want to get the XP I would get from completing the crafting quests. "Sure, I'll take on Knight-Captain Denam while wearing an 81 armor rated Scout Coat and wielding daggers with <130 damage apiece. No problem...

Or maybe there was. But it's done and I'll never have to do it again. Finished at level 4 with 670xp to spare before level 5.

I'm currently level 4, I just opened Redcliffe. Even with the Golden Nug, it's going to be super brutal since I don't have any guard generation skill yet, so I'd be on a single health pool for the entirety of the quests. I remember the dreadful spirit shield on those Abominations and am pondering whether to go for Champions of the Just or Hushed Whispers. I'm pretty sure levelled too high anyway already and should simply forget this particular Trial of the Fool achievement for this playthrough (nightmare solo all trials).

And yeah I concur, seeing the game over screen in the tutorial when Cassandra died to those wraiths was heartbreaking  :)

You might be OK, Cydh. You can still gain the achievement if you reach level 5, you just can't have hit level 6 yet.

I debated whether to do In Hushed Whispers or Champions of the Just for a very long time, but in the end, I decided that fighting behemoth!Denam would hurt less than fighting Envy. I'm still not sure that was the smartest thing I've ever done. But if you do wind up doing Hushed Whispers, keep in mind that you can run past the rifts in Redcliffe Castle courtyard and you can run past the two shades on the balcony in the Docks. Just make sure you're controlling your rogue at the time and use stealth appropriately.

Oh, I don't have a rogue, but I will keep that in mind when I get to do my first attempt though. If I can skip a fight, I'll make sure I do.

TRIALS and TRIBULATIONS

Can any of you Nightmare level enthusiasts tell me if the reason I can only find "Trials" and not "Abilities" is because I enjoy playing on the casual setting? Where are the Abilities? Thank You

The Abilities are the ones you choose when you allocate your skill points on leveling up. Previously, each diamond-shaped active ability only had one upgrade available. Now, when you upgrade, you get a choice of two, and you can toggle between them anytime you want without having to spend another point to do it.
