One of the things I've loved about ME3, was that you could influence crew relationships or watch the relationships develop naturally on their own.  A few examples come to mind:  If you didn't romance Tali or Garrus, those two develop a relationship in ME3 (it starts in ME2).  Gabriella Daniels and Kenneth Donnelly (I think they make the best couple!), Liara and Javik could develop a friendship.  EDI and Joker...

In ME:A, would be have the same power to influence relationships? Causing people to either get together, break up, become friends, or totally make former friends become enemies?  Or could we see some relationships naturally develop on their own?

I'd like either. I really enjoyed that in ME3 and DAI (and DA2, banter alludes to Isabela and Fenris hooking up).

Would hope they'd all move around the ship a lot more, too, so we actually have to go looking for them if we want to talk.

ME3 some what did this.  Like Vega and Garrus chatting for example.  I would like to see crew mates wandering the ship, going about their duties, interacting with other crew.

Instead standing still, waiting for us to talk to them...  Boy, the life of an NPC must be boring.

Aye, I'd love to see that.

But let's imagine the following:

We could suppose that the "main ship" would be rather large, after all we are colonizing new places. if so, our party members will be all spread out around that said ship doing their stuff. if this ship is as big as i imagine is going to be hard to locate all of our party members, which could lead to "missing" some conversations.

Of course this could all be "fixed" giving the important "talk-worthy" NPCs a minimap icon, or something to find them regardless as to were they are walking to.

I think a ship the size of the SR1 is fine.  It was comfortable and cozy.  Don't need anything massive.  I would love for the ship to feel more intimate instead of a large spread out ship.

Friendships are cool, I wouldn't want to see too many people hooking up.

Maybe it's hypocritical since my PC is quite likely to be finding romance, but ME3 just seems to go a bit overboard on romance among the crew. I mean, we're supposed to be a warship.

Though I suppose it's possible that we're not supposed to be a warship in MEA

I understand, but I am quite sure people get married while in the service, develop friendships, and rivalries.

I thought it was a realistic response to what was going on in their lives. End of the Galaxy and all.

I liked that part of ME3 as well. It shows that the crew is interacting with each other and they aren't just standing there waiting for you.

A part of me always felt that Kaidan and Miranda would have been kind of cute together if you didn't romance either of them, but that's just me. So yeah, I think having NPCs interacting and developing different relationships would be really neat.

My biggest complaint about later BW games is that everyone gets along too well.  I'd like to see more companions develop rivalry and outright enmity towards one another.

Or maybe there are people on the crew who don't get along at all, so you can't put them in the field together because they won't cooperate with each other.

I usually vehemently hate the couples BioWare comes up with (Fenris and Isabela, Bull and Dorian, Tali and Garrus, to name a few, oh, and EDI and Joker), so, no lol

Kinda saw that with Miranda and Jack in ME2, but in ME3 developed into a ... mutual respect for one another.  Would be nice to see situationships (friendships for the sake of the mission, or relationships because it only benefits both parties for the time being).  Or a rivalry/hatred for one another

EDI and Joker was funny in ME2, but in ME3, I didn't like how it developed.  It got too weird.

Would be awesome if not only do we build up squadmate loyalty to our PC, but to the rest of the squad as well.  Team work makes the dream work right?  Like "Squadmate A" hates "Squadmate B," but they are willing to put their differences aside because they have loyalty to our PC and other crew mates.

EDI and Joker...

If there's a sexbot this time had better be the one that gets to romance it! Er, I mean, the PC had better... be the one...

I agree. I truly despise Bull x Dorian and other relationships between companions, but this one is the worst of them all.

EDI and Joker was funny in ME2, but in ME3, I didn't like how it developed.  It got too weird.

It just seemed... sad and creepy on Joker's part... demeaning to his character. He was literally the nerd who made himself a robot girlfriend.

And EDI... as an AI she was interesting in ME2, but she genuinely did turn into a sexbot in ME3, I mean that body, come on.

But beyond that I can't explain why I don't like the relationship b/c tbh I'd have much preferred Traynor x EDI, and I can't really explain why.

Well as long it doesn't become like Fenris, Anders and Merrill party in DA2 that I used all the time for some reason.. maybe I'm masochist..

On the topic question, I do like some NPC romances, though Garrus and Tali doesn't really do anything for me and EDI and Joker is bit one-sided in my opinion.. but in general. I don't want PC to have too much power in relationships of NPC's, but I think some subtle changes are okay I guess? Like that you don't straight-forwardly dictate other people's relationship, but you can have some influence over them in ways that aren't blatant.

DA2 had so much hate between companions I often wondered why some of those people even kept hanging around each other, especially since there wasn't really any "we-have-to-stick-together-or-the-world-ends"-situation going on. I'd like some rivalries, but I feel like it's easy to reach a point where things start to make less sense, if you know what I'm saying.

I'm not saying we have direct influence, maybe we could affect some.. But I do think relationships in the game, whether as friends, enemies, rivals, brother/sister, sister/sister, brother/brother, mentor, etc should develop naturally on their own.

Man, that must have been super angsty.  I never ran with all three of those.  Granted, I did run for a while with Fenris, Merrill and Isabela, and at least Isabela's support of Merrill balanced out Fenris' raw loathing of her.  His "you are a monster" in the late game was one of my favorite banter moments.

But it's memorable and paints the characters without having to exhaust dialogue trees like you're performing a checklist.  And I'd rather the occasional bickering rather than a Disney-fied hugfest.

I have nothing against other characters having friendly relationships with each other

The platform and clown relationship was....whatever. Shepard can tell joker just to be friends with the thing, but still ends up saying 'I'll take care of your girlfriend' just before the Chronos mission if the bottom right dialogue is chosen. Also when the clown says there's no regulation against dating the ship's AI, I wanted to put him in a strait jacket and throw him in a rubber room

Yes it was. Fenris and Anders were constantly fighting and when they weren't fighting they were bullying Merrill. Sadly I felt that I needed healer in my group and Fenris and Merrill are my favorite characters so I somewhat ended up with most hateful combo in history of Bioware companions ^^ I don't mind people bickering, but that was just depressing and I felt like Hawke lacked "shut up" button.

Have you ever wanted to punch Joker in the mouth sometimes?  I know he's the comedic relief, but at times I wish I had the option to crack him in the mouth. But putting in him in his place a few times was fun.  I would consider my Shepard and Joker's relationship to be brothers.  An older brother that wanted to be the only child, and the younger brother that thinks he's older than the older brother.
