It seems to me that Zone 4 and Zone 5 have very little payoff vs the first 3.   The first 3 you just have to kill everything (including the troubling party within the enemy's rank), loot the pots and treasure rooms, and the nug.   You get about 75% of the gold and 60% of the xp in less than 40% of the total time to clear all 5 zones.   Zone 4 may have the dwarven elites (seriously why are the dwarves not taken over the dragon age world in the story if they are that awesome) and you have to race against time to get to the weapon, scroll or heirloom.  If you got to the objective in time, you probably skipped over some treasure rooms and/or pots.   That mean you have to waste time going back or waste gold by not getting them.  Orthere is that suicidal VIP that you have to escort...  . And Zone 5 is even worst.  It takes as long or longer than zone 4 and you don't even get any pots or treasure room.

So if you exit out to menu in Zone 4, do you still get all the gold/item/xp from Zone 1 to 3?   Or do you have to die in Zone 4 to get them?   I guess I could test it next time.

A very simple 'you shouldn't do that' would do don't you think?  No need for outright hostilities!

Killing the boss in 5/5 acts as an event or treasure room (non-item). 4/5? or is it 3/5? can have the Golden Nug if 1/5 did not, either appearance is like another event or treasure room (non-item). Back tracking for pots or doors only adds another couple minutes or so per run, when soloing I would suggest back tracking for gold and rooms anyway so you're Kill Streaking XP bonus thru the zone. Killing enemies counts towards challenges. Remembering those challenges helps to keep your attention thru a match as well, better than working only for xp and a promote.

Play on perilous there's no bolters?

The bolters are bad only because they are dwarven in threaten and routine.  They hit with 1's damages but it takes 2 to 3 times more weapon swings to kill each one.   Depends on the party and gears, it could take as much time to finish Zone 4 as Zone 1 to 3 together if the dwarves are there.   The dwarf assassin is the worst.  Normal assassin dies in 1 or 2 swings before he could go back into stealth.  Dwarven one always survives into the first stealth.  Now one or 2 guys have to stay behind  to wait for it come back because it seems to have a grudge against the VIP guy.

If you do the math, Zone 4 and 5 are just not worth the time/gold/xp comparing to the first 3 zones.   And for FC, this is 100 time worst.   I don't know why someone would select FC for routine or threatening in the first place, but FC for zone 4 and 5 for routine/threatening are completely not worth the effort.   You spent 20 minutes chasing down and kill the dwarves and your VIP guy will decide that he like to step into the dragon spits and dies.

The best Zone 1 to 3 is the OC.  You go pretty much in a straight path to the end zone and pots are hard to miss.  In a group, you could go from 1 to 3 in about 5 minutes and get over 600 gold and items.   Then like one of those cults, everyone just dies in Zone 4 and start over!   Think of all the hats you could buy.. who is with me? :P

I have no idea what you meant, but it sounds like a good name for a band...

No way!  I *will* extract!

It's a reference to the utterly ridiculous practice in ME3 MP's early days, when people like the OP would all die at the end of Wave 10 (out of 11) because that was the last paying wave, thus missing extraction.  Then, BioWare got smart and added a financial incentive to complete the final extraction wave.

OP's idea is bad, and he should feel bad posting it.

Ps.  OP, please don't take my virulent disgust for your idea to be a personal attack.  I just never want to see that degree of min-max munchkin play ruining a game again, so it is a good thing, IMO, that BioWare has avoided that in DAIMP, by paying out as you go.  Other than the XP, that is.

Still think they should have used the stick rather than the bribery carrot on that one.  I would have made it that if you don't extract obviously that chararter died so you start at level one again.

Liked the post.  Not because it's a good idea, but because it is just so damned evil...;^)

You don't complete any challenges if you don't finish the game.

I would finish even if the boss gave 0 gold.

But yeah they should put more gold on bosses especially the dragon.

This intent falls into that category again, in which I cannot understand in favour of what exactly people are so inclined to save time or maximize efficiency for.

As it is strucutred, less zones simply means less game - For there's nothing else to do than to clear these zones.

If it were just about mim/maxing exp and gold payoff, to adjust promotion & loot speed, you might as well ask for a 30 ft corridor with one enemy at the beginning, a pot in the middle and a treasure chest at the end.

So if you just exit to menu, you only get the gold and item but not the xp.  If you die, you get the gold/item/xp for the previous zones you completed.  And if you have drakescale armor on you and you have the fire buff on your Saarebas, it is almost impossible to die in Routine.   The whole zone could hit you and does no damage but they will die off one by one from the damage shield.

And for the people who asked why someone could like to min/max xp/gold payoff, it is because that's what people do.   I have nothing against people who like to play all 5 zones.   If the zones are not fun to me, I don't like to play them.   Just because it is more game, doesn't mean it is better.   If they create a zone 6 that gives no xp, no gold, and if you die in there you lost everything in the previous 5 zones, would you play it?   Now that's extreme, but people place different values on things, so sometime you have to agree to disagree. :)

And who knows, if more people decided to stop playing in FC or Zone 4/5, maybe they will put in more reward for those.  This morning I just finished 2 full games of FC in threatening.  I got about 300 gold each.   With any other map, I could have gotten at least 800 gold each and in half the time or less.   When I have about 30 minutes before work to play, I kind of want to get enough gold to open a chest before leaving for work.

If you insist doing this then I suggest not ever playing PUGs. Go private with your own crew of quitters, min/maxers, whatever shoe fits... or just go solo. How you want to play affects no one in those two scenarios.

Similar, but not exact, sentiment said for players that go into a PUG and port the team to the next zone as the host is collecting pots and treasure rooms. If you want speed, host and speed. If you are in a game follow the hosts example, if they are collecting then collect.
