Magical glowy balls of banter?

I'm just starting Trespasser and I've encountered these glowing balls of light that say "Listen to (Party Member Name)" and you click on them and they initiate banter. But what are they? Are they just a way to get around the banter issue so everyone experiences it? They confuse me because not all of them seem to fit the surroundings like normal banter would -- I got one about Dorian being allergic to the field of stripweed before him in the middle of the Crossroads.

Of course I love them regardless of what they are, even if the mechanic is a bit weird.

It harkens a bit to the markers in DA2, IMO. I would prefer that they were simply labeled 'Lookout Point' or other more environ friendly markers, rather than these banter points, but am glad to have heard them anyway.

And Dorian's observations are among my favorites thus far.

I support the glowy balls.

Glowy balls are the best balls. They're amazeballs.

Do the balls bounce from the left and to the right?

It also beats downloading cheat engine and mashing the hot key until someone says something.

The first two I got were Dorian/Iron Bull banter which made me fall in love with them and start hunting for them immediatly. I wish I knew how many there were so I'd know if I was missing any.

They should be held every night.

I feel like they took a shortcut to get around the whole banter issue... I always felt that we should trigger the banter ourselves so it feels right when we want it. Like instead of clicking on a ball... As we're walking around, there would be a notification that says " Dorian has something to say" press X to listen. It's a little more organic this way in my opinion. Plus awkward banter being triggered in the middle of combat won't be an issue anymore.

I love a good big glowing ball all up in my face.

But yeah I prefer it, helps us not miss out on banter. Apart from the goodbye banters, hardly anyone is getting that - cos' no balls for that.

I like the balls. It certainly beats running around the wilderness to find some random trigger points for banter.

This sounds like a really good idea, yes. Being able to manually trigger banters so they don't get interupted by combat, mounting, or the damn Requisition Officer is much more convenient, as is the clear indication who has something to say where.

I spent so much time running back and forth on the bridge in Orzammar, in DAO, with every variation of party members, because I love the banter so much. So I'll take glowy ball of banter any day, over missing any banter. :)

I'm not really a fan, it reminds me of trying to find the companion's special object in DAO:A.

I thought it was just a prompt that said a companion would have something to say about that particular area, like in ME2?

I really like it! I hated missing out on so much banter in the main game, and all of the orbs are in easy-to-reach places, so long as you check around.

I thought it was just a prompt that said a companion would have something to say about that particular area, like in ME2?

There's a bit of both. For example, when you go into the Fade, Sera will make comments about being afraid and it leads to a little banter with Cassandra about it. But they also just have general comments with each other (like Cass and Cole talk about how they're happy to be working together again, and make no comment on their surroundings).

Why isn't  this part of a patch?

Because they only apply to new areas in Trespasser and are about Trespasser. It would be good if they improved on this for the next game though.

Don't know if anyone else has experienced it yet, but the banter is pretty much fixed after patch 10 in the main game. Though the balls were a good solution.
