Not if they're a mage. And even barring that, there's literally magic that allows people to grow their limbs back and technology advanced enough to create formidable prosthetic limbs. Not that I think the Inquisitor will be a PC - doesn't follow tradition - but there really aren't any serious obstacles that can't be overcome given what lore has established people are capable of doing in Thedas.

I had similar thoughts. A lost arm does not mean that the Inquisitor is automatically out of the fight, front lines or otherwise. It is also noteworthy that they are most likely going to Tevinter in DA4. If anyone can magically replace their arm it is them especially if they have Dorian's connections and resources. I speculate that in DA4 and Tevinter the idea of ethical Blood Magic will be introduced in the games, as they were in the comics, and that Blood Magic could be used to replace the Inquisitors arm.

They lost the forearm and the hand, not the entire arm. As for the people claiming that functional prosthetic parts don't fit the setting...

That was a prosthetic hand and forearm (two versions) made in 1504.

Its the prosthetic of Götz of the Iron Handwhom was still able to serve from 1504 to 1540 with that hand. It let him hold a shield, reins, a pen and various other objects that would require high manual dexterity to properly use.

Man if I wasn't out of likes, this post would've gotten one.

I don't think the Inquisitor will return as a playable character, at least not in DA4, and if severing their arm was the devs was of cementing that idea then I greatly disagree with the method. A single Tweet would have sufficed. That said it is possible that the severed arm in of itself will play to another theme. See my previous post. My speculation is thus: Blood Magic will be shown in a different light, not entirely as an engine of evil but as a powerful tool. Both Dorian and Solas have mentioned that they have no issues with Blood Magic itself but in how it is used.

With Tevinter speculation stronger than ever and the Inquisitor's romance/friendship with Dorian cemented with the sharing crystal the direction I see this going is Dorian arranging for a Blood Mage healer to regenerate his friend's/lover's arm, opening up dialog and themes of ethical Blood Magic. My personal speculation is that DA4 will also take place in the Anderfels, side by side with Tevinter like Orlais and Ferelden in Inquisition and that the theme will carry over to the Grey Wardens and their history with Blood Magic. This theme was also covered somewhat in Last Flight. Hint.

Yeah... I really thought that was poor taste. But I really am eager to see how they delve into magic once we get into Tevinter.

Hey all.

This thread is wandering between completely off-topic meme posting and barely on topic postings.

As such, I have closed it.

Should you decide to continue the conversation, without images, feel free to start a new thread.
