So, now that the Golden Nug lets you share schematics across different characters and you have access to more than one "good" weapon of each type, do you set aside particular styles for each character? I do.

Blackwall: Griffon Mace and Masterwork Grey Warden Shield (in silverite, naturally)

Cassandra: Mortalitasi Firm Club and Dwarven Proving Shield

Cole: Blade of the Red Birth (if the PC isn't a DW rogue) or Coiled Strike (if the PC is a DW rogue)

Dorian: Staff of Corruption (the dragons go with his robes)

Iron Bull: Axe of the Dragon Hunter (in dawnstone, naturally)

Sera: Elgar'nan-Enaste (because I'm a jerk and I enjoy giving her elfy weapons)

Solas: Wrath of Lovias (it's got a sphere on the top...)

Varric: Bianca, of course

Vivienne: Archon Fire Staff (it looks like a chantry symbol if you squint)

Inquisitor: mages get Encore, DW rogues get Blade of the Red Birth, archer rogues get Lyrium-Reinforced Longbow, and my weapon-and-shield warriors get the Axe of Green Edges and the Revered Defender Bulwark

I'm guilty of giving many of my companions character-specific gear even if it's not the most optimal piece of equipment out there for them. It helps with my immersion. Some that I do as an example...

Before Blackwall's reveal: Griffon Mace and Grey Warden Shield.

After Blackwall's reveal: Serpant's Rage (transitioning from a Griffon to a Dragon-like being which seems to fit the Inquisition as the Inquisitor's Helmet has a dragon theme) and Shield of the Emperor (Rainier was a respected and well regarded Captain in Orlais' army).

Cassandra: Caliban (a dragon-slayer's sword and the most famous non-Pentaghast one at that. This greatly pleases her) and Shield of the Emperor (anyone remember that Cassandra holds the title of Hero of Orlais?)

Dorian: Staff of Corruption (quite fitting considering of the struggle he faces in his dream of cleansing Tevinter's corruption)

Varric: Bianca. And only Bianca, ever.

Vivienne: Grand Enchanter's Staff. Because she quite literally is the Grand Enchanter in many cases. Plus I always approve of making Vivienne a frost-oriented Mage.

And that's really about it honestly. I don't use Bull much but he gets whatever is the strongest two-handed weapon I come across, I didn't buy or craft him anything in particular. Sera usually gets the Spiked Longbow from me because it fits her Prowler Armor style quite nicely. Plus it's all pointy and elf-y looking which pleases me.

Before the Black Emporium, my Mage Inquisitor would rock a Sentinel Staff and Solas would get an Archmage staff. But since the Emporium, they both use Staff of Corruption, for it is literally the strongest staff in the game before Encore.
