The Inquisitor is in charge of the forces and briefs the new hero at the war table, but he/she is the leader and calls the shots. The new hero works for them and reports directly to the Inquisitor and gets sent out on important missions.

That's how I think it will be handled.

If so, my Champion is going from a two handed to a sword and shield style...

I think that would be a good option as well.  Not that Cullen won't be around, potentially, but the Inquisitor is still...well...head of the Inquisition (official or not).

Cullen is dead in my game :D

The Inquisitor shouldn't have a great role in DA:4, maybe just a cameo like Hawke or a letter like HoF

I think Harding and Charter will be the representatives for the Inquisitor, while the main character commands from afar.

I could see that, commanding from Skyhold.

A commander typically joins his army on the battlefield, and the Inquisitor did say that their adventuring days are done. That could imply their fighting days are done as well.

I would rather have nothing to do with the inquisition at all for most of DA4. Let a new character deal with a new situation.

The situation needs to be addressed but just joining the hunt feels like a letdown when we could be wondering if every desicion we make is helping him or fighting against him. Will doing x bring the vale down, keep it up or does it have nothing to do with it.

I would prefer a long running story where I can explore multiple angles rather than the inquisitor biffing Solas with a rolled up newspaper shouting bad Wolf before moving on the the next villain.

Solas is the Inquisitor problem, they should be the one to take them down.

Yea lets not repeat the same mistake, even if the new hero defeats Solas and then the Inquisitor shows up and murder knifes him

Cullen and my Inquisitor are having a brood of adorable curly haired little magelets.  They've retired to the Fereldan countryside.
