I adore Dragon Age Origins, I've played it around 10 times and I've never played a single player game that often. It is truly the most immersive DA of the trilogy in regards to story. But imagine it had the combat ai of today's Dragon Age with the graphics and clarity only EA and bioware can produce.

I'm not talking about a "remastered" edition where they throw in extra sheen on everything with that money making "1080 resolution" banner. I'm talking complete map and character recreation.. Taking the art direction from DAI but keeping the amazing story and voice acting from the original.

I'm going to stop daydreaming now - I'm drooling everywhere. All I'm saying is I'd buy two copies of it! And the new age kids of today deserve to experience the story of the Hero of Feralden first hand.. Not many kids want to pick it up because it looks dated to them and that's a bloody travesty.

Copy and paste all this for Mass Effect also.

A redesign of the characters to look like stick models would kill DA:O and the battle system works fine as it is.

I would rather see the characters stay as they are since they look like your average shem, dwarf or Elf.. I really hate what they did to the elves in DA:2 seeing DA:2 story line is the same time as the blight in DA:O. The elves look more like aliens from some distant planet  then the  elves in DA:O that fled North... And Flemeth charged from a old hag to a completely different looking person in DA:2 even though the story time line is the same. A big fail IMHO.

A redesign would mean no sale here.

The combat AI of today Dragon Age? ROFL.

So standing toe to toe with your enemy and dying because rng decided your sword swipes will miss 8 out of 10 times this fight is okay?? Also I'm not a fan of point and hands free combat. I wanna feel every hit!

I play nightmare DAI almost completely real time and love it! The battle cam in tactic mode isn't that great at all I know but that's why I play real time. I prefer that to DA:O..

But I guess that's a playstyle thing. Just like with that comment on art style and character looks and physiques. Everyone is going to prefer a different style of art.

This post is about the idea of refreshing a truly incredible game so it reaches a larger audience AND perhaps even cashing in on a game that deserves more than being sat in the $5 bin at EB Games. THAT is the real travesty here.

I've tried passing on the game to my mates and as soon as they see just how old it is for them they don't engage in it. Once again.. This is all a day dream. I can't imagine how long it would take to recreate every map.. Every cut scene.. All the combat and ui but heck it looks beautiful in my head!

I don't get why people are so quick to shut people's ideas down on gaming forums. It's the age long battle of the open minded vs the close minded and it's very sad!

That's what this type of game should be about, you missing 8 times out of 10 hits is a problem of badly built character (or badly used), not a problem of the game. It should be about planing character statistics, where his/her role should be, using proper skills in the right time and also thinking about the way the fight should go (positioning of all team members, setting up their behavior and being able to aim them at suitable targets).

Tactical camera in Origins is really good and important thing, because it actually works there. I've not played DA:I personally, but from the look on gameplay footage and from what they changed for DA2, I'm not surprised people just said "Screw it, I'm playing real-time!".

And I honestly doubt that basically remaking entire game in a engine that doesn't even have to support some things from the past (therefore they would have to figure out alternative ways to implement them) would be profitable... sure some people would buy it, but they could even lose in the end.

My opinion - let Dragon Age be an experience similar to older RPG's (with some upgrades), keep the fast real-time combat to the Mass Effect, since that's more of a shooter game.

I didnt say anything about the combat. I was talking about the AI, DAI has the most retarded AI of all DA games due to having no tactic loadout. Combat-wise a mix of Origins tactical combat and fast-pace fluid of Inquisition would make a perfect combat mechanic for the next Dragon Age.

Do you build up your AI party members?  Like all RPGs I favor mêlée  slice and dice combat and I usually use three rogues after Zevran joins in DA:O. I control my character and let the AIs battle on their own and I use the same tatic in DA:2 and DA:I..  I seldom lose a battle and I have limited use of my right hand.

Let  Dragon Age trilogy be as they are and new players of all ages can enjoy the games as they were intended--just like any older RPG they wish to play.

Like I told my son and  Grandson playing on "Nightmare" doesn't impress me .. What impresses me is a player's game skill in all areas and that will cover things from leveling up and equipping all party members with stronger armor and weapons to choosing the right equipment as the game advances.

My Grandson didn't know a well built and equipped Leliana makes a top notch rogue that can hold her own against any foe until he watched one of my boss battles where she killed the boss. Morrigan can be built into a powerhouse mage with powerful battle magic and  healing skills.

Well, if the build does the job on Nightmare, that's all that matters. :)  From my experience the all-rogue party doesn't hold well in some situations, they just drop like flies in fights against strong mages with AOE spells. Unless you can manually position them very well...

Yeah builds are my thing through and through. Why does your rogue team always hit? Because they have high attack stats. Attack stats have EVOLVED since then. Attack now adds extra damage per attack rather than chance to attack.

The thing about elite builds/gear for dragon age is the fact DA is so story driven. I like Alistair.. Morrigan, Leliana and main archon warrior. And I love how certain gear looks. The new combat system allows me to play real time wearing what I want.. Playing how I want. When I swing a sword I know it's going to hit every time.

Combat in DA:O is like watching a tennis match. Watching you swing... Then the enemy swing... Waiting to see who or when one will miss. 98% attack is still 2% chance to miss and rng HATES some of us.

I brought up nightmare mode because that is the ultimate test of skill as there is no room for mistakes not to impress you buddy. Haha.

Anyway as usual that goes wayyy off topic!! Once again for me a new Dragon Age Origins with even just a map and art and cut scene rework would be amazing! :)

Vlada 47,I equipped my rogues with a strong sword and  a strong dagger  (both weapons  has enchantments) with the strongest armor they can wear at their level, I use my character to take out the mages while Leliana and Zev attacks as they will..

Mêlée brawl fighting game style isn't for every one nor do I recommend it--unless the player is skilled in mêlée game playing with little use of mages and as I mention in another discussion I solo the wilds and the Tower of Ishal. up to the ogre fight just to build my warden up so he/she is ready for the fade. I have used a mage solo in these areas but, its best not to  stand and go toe to toe with the darkspawn..I found it best to fight on the move. The walking bomb works wonders here. ;)

The thing I love about DA:O is the choices you have unlike other games. Three mages and a fighter, four fighters and no mage, three rogues and a fighter or my favorite  three rogues and Morrigan.Once you gain "spirit healer" on Morrigan along with her strong battle magic she is a powerful all around mage.
