I heard a lot of people say it was bad, but I'm doing a full playthrough after Trespasser and wanted the full experience. Figured it couldn't be that bad. Boy was I wrong. Horrible environment optimization, amateur and sometimes cheesy cinematics and more auto dialogue than Mass Effect 3. To top it off, the story wasn't even that compelling. The last act of the DLC looks like requiem from Halo 4, which was also a little weird. If you were like me and on the fence about buying it, I do not recommend. Save your lettuce.

"caved in"... I see what you did there.

The bit of fun I got out of it was watching creepy dwarf machinegunners go splat on Aegis of the Rift.

The last part which looked like some kind of "hollow world of Thedas" complete with happily chirping birds gave me the feeling that the lore was losing quite some ground traction and went for the rule of cool again.

And since you mentioned ME3...I half expected someone to say "We're inside a reaper, Shepard".

Deep Roads is rarely a grand adventure.

The Descent did add some nice lore (scaled ones, titans, lyrium), had interesting enemies, and the Titan was cool, but the boss fight was lame. It was better than the Golems DLC for Origins, in terms of DLC side story for a DA game, but the boss fight was pretty meh... stationary bosses tend to be kind of boring...

Edit: Sadly, my standards aren't that high, so I enjoyed all the story DLC for DA:I.

I liked the DLC itself, but it mostly picked up after the Darkspawn. I can only open so many of those damn doors before I wanna exit the game.

The boss was a scrub tho
