To say I feel let down would be a understatement ,having spend over 300 hours finding every landmark, Rift, and Quests, killing all 10 dragons, (11 if you count the one in Trespasser)  and completing the two addons I arrived at the last part, Trespasser, at LV27, and my group pretty much invincible.

The presale gave me the impression that like the main story you would be able to travel back and forth to Skyhold with all your collected items available . But to my surprise there was no way back once you started . The actual quest was a walk through my group was never once in any danger of dying and the interaction was less than I expected after playing the main game and it took all off 5 hours to complete .

But the biggest let down was the ending .I fell in love very early in the game with joining my Inquisitor and Cassandra together and found it relaxing after a couple of hours of play to let them have their few minutes together, I know I am a old romantic . So it was nice in Trespasser when Cassandra at last started to show a caring side when we got into a battle worrying that I might get killed ,well the ending came very quickly and not only did I lose a arm which was a kick in the nether regions as I had grown into my Character but ,I ended up on a balcony with everyone leaving me Cassandra as well ,without even a farewell chat.

Well Bioware here would have been my ending , The Inquisitor and Cassandra( or who ever was your choice get married) ,Cassandra wanted to change the Chantry and by marrying she had the security of the Inquisitor to protect it .A wedding with all the group there would have been great ,look at the fun you could have had who would be best man ,bridesmaids etc ,then to finish the game Cassandra has twins a boy and a girl one of which would become the hero in DAI 4 (Play as Female or Male ).

I know everyone had their own choice of Inquisitor and love match and I am sure it was not above the game designers to give different options. Instead after nursing my Hero through the game I end up with a sad and lonely one armed man ,I am now off to lock myself away until DAI 4

Prior to the release of the Trespasser DLC, they confirmed that you would not be able to return to Skyhold especially since it skips ahead two years and during the wartable bit when you are about to initiate it, you recieve a message warning you of this as well.

1. They said many times you can't go back to skyhold.

2. All of the LI's leave on the balcony scene, then walk back. It seems to be either a bug, or lazy design that they walk away and then walk right back to stand next to you.

3. Cassandra only leaves the inquisitor if she's made Divine. If Viv or Leliana are elected, both she and the inquisitor stay together. So you'll still be a one armed man, just minus the sad and lonely part.

The DLC specifically warns you that you can't travel back after you start it...

Yes you are all correct in pointing out that there is a warning at the war table which I failed to mention in my post ,but it was the presale I was pointing too.

I know you shouldn't get into a game to deeply but I felt the basic story line was one I could submerse myself into and I enjoyed the way it was heading .But as a old fashioned type I wanted a bit more for my Hero after all he had been through.  Oh well I can not change it now ,sadly knowing the ending I don't feel the need to play through it again. But they could still have married lol. :D

It is implied that they do in the future. She wasn't opposed to the idea, just the timing. According to Josephine's writer her romance arc didn't involve a marriage for similar reasons (in her case, it was because her family wouldn't have been there). I found the non divine Cassandra romance ending to be perfect, but to each their own I suppose.

I only really got into one romance, and that was Solas, so I have little pity for you.  I don't understand why you think that being a completionist means that you should get a better ending.  I don't know what you are referring to as the "presale", and when I search google for it, the first two results exclude the word "presale", and the third result is this thread.  As many people have said before, Bioware made it clear before Trespasser became available (thus pre-sale) that you wouldn't be able to go back to Skyhold.

I think you are also kind of missing the point.  Cassandra is Divine, which means she can never marry the Inquisitor.  Of course it's going to be a sad ending.

Think this is not onyl about Skyhold, but especially about ALL the regions. :) So the people know: All quest must be done - don't cry after Trespasser that you still have something to do in a region.

I don't see a problem in going back to Skyhold, Black Emporium and Val. But of course ONLY to this places. However: The Inquisitor WILL go back, to pack his / her things bag (if leaving) or to chance some thing (if Inquisition still exist).

@nemmis

I'm really sorry for you. :(

My only romance in the series was Lelianna in Origins. I didn't care for the opitions in DA2 and my Inquisitor is too much of a religious zealot to concern himself with such.

When you think about it, it only made sense to not let you travel back to Skyhold during Trespasser. Travel may have taken us less than a minute, but really it is a few days travel (at least) between Skyhold and the Winter Palace. The Qunari are not going to wait around in the Crossroads for you to return. The Exalted Council wouldn't hear of it either. From a role playing perspective, I support what was done.

Emotionally? Yes, I miss Skyhold.

Cassandra as my love interest always walks away initially, but then returns to my side just before the camera cuts away? Unless she was Divine, speaking of which, after having seen several Divine Victoria denouements , in my estimation "softened" Leliana is the ideal choice for the new Divine. Cassandra is good, but given her personality, I feel that she has to sacrifice too much in the role. Vivienne is too much the wild card, and I will never have a second playthrough elevating her as Divine.

I also felt that losing the arm with the mark was an elegant storytelling decision, and I was surprised that such a possibility never occurred to me before it happened.

More importantly, how's Dorian? Not everyone Inquisitor is straight, nor male, nor in a romance with Cassandra. Yeah, I suppose my Cadash could bear Blackwall's twins, but they'd probably be human, and my vision of their future doesn't involve children. My Trevelyan wound up marrying Cullen, but Fuzzbutt the Mabari is enough for them, and between the lyrium rehab center and finding Solas, they're going to be too busy for children.

I prefer it when they leave the endings vague, but there's always someone who wants to invalidate my world state and make a straight male protagonist official canon.

Bioware itself may choose a set world state in which to license their DA comic book stories or novels for a central point of reference, but your "official canon" is the playthrough that resonates closest to your heart. It is always just as valid as anything set by the devs; sort of the beauty of the thing really!

Oh, I know. The devs are well aware of how attached we all are to our protagonists, and they have never given in to the many fan requests to "canonize" the Morrigan romance or the OGB, for example. I'm grateful for their integrity in preserving our individual world states (as opposed to the comic book world state). Even with the novels, they have gone out of their way to avoid dictating a "canon" Warden or a "canon" Hawke... as much as possible. But that doesn't prevent people from asking them to do it.

And there have been times when the writers have failed to anticipate that the protagonist might not be a straight male. For example, the emotions evoked by the Dark Ritual are very different if your Warden is female (especially if she's in a romance with Alistair). If she wants a happy ending, she has to persuade her lover to be unfaithful to her. It's probably more powerfully emotional than the male protagonist version, but it doesn't take the Warden to a happy place.

Cassandra (or any love interest) will return to your side.    Then did you not read the epilogue screens?    Whilst she continues to concentrate on reforming the Seekers, she and the Inquisitor still are able to spend time together and people comment they have never seen her smile so much.   Also there is a final scene at the war table, with you sticking your knife into Tevinter (indicating that is definitely where the game will take us next).   When Dorian was my love interest he was standing in the background of the group.  When Cassandra was my love interest, there was no Dorian, so clearly he was there because he was my partner.   Because Cassandra was one of the founders of the Inquisition she is there regardless, so you probably didn't realise there was any significance.    I haven't done the other romances but I guess it is the same for them.    The Inquisitor will definitely not be alone, unless they romanced Solas or a Qun-loyal Iron Bull.

Why is it when people want Bioware to cater to them specifically, the inevitable response people pointing out that other people made different choices is always a variation of "Well, Bioware  can figure it out, they're smart!!!!"

You don't want to play Cass and the Inquisitor's kids because you didn't romance Cass? Eh, Bioware is smart, they'll come up with something for the Not-Me's out there....

You don't want DA4 to be the Solasmancer show because you dared to not play a female Lavallen? Eh, Bioware is smart, they'll come up with something....

Newsflash, Bioware is totally run by human beings with budget constraints who can't create a sprawling game that caters to everyone's head canon simultaneously....
