I cant really figure out why i would use this over a staff. Like melee damage is meh, and AW just have the spirit blade so... Is it more of just a gimmick?

It's for KEs, you are already in melee range so might as well.

It's better than a staff in regard that it does AoE damage like every two handed weapon.

Tiradon's Blade, one of the Trespasser weapons, looks like a 2H hilt and pommel when you craft it, but when you use it in combat, you see its elemental type in a blade shape with the rune effects dancing around the edges. It looks pretty cool... but as others have observed, its usefulness is limited. You're always going to get more AoE damage from a 2H warrior weapon. Its main draw is probably its RP value.

Lavellan KE in Sentinel armor with the Blade of Tidarion... there ain't nothin' better.  :D

Also if you use it with Spirit Blade you become a dual wielder.

If you give it frost damage and crit chance, you can use Flashpoint and the new upgrade for Winter's Grasp to get 700+ damage per hit

It has offensive metal and cloth slots, which means with the right materials you can get a high increased attack percentage. I got +40% attack. I think the only way to get a higher attack percentage is with Encore with the right upgrades.
