What the world really needs is another DAI endgame video and so...

Nightmare solo of endgame at level 12 with dual wield assassin. (No DLC)

Nice :)  Looks kind of tedious, but I like to see people pushing the boundaries of what's possible

Thanks Rynas!

Pushing the boundaries is what I like to do as well. I looked around and didn't see much on low level NM soloing and so I decided to post the vid with the risk of it being totally redundant.

The combat isn't quite as tedious as it looks due to the tension that arises from the risk of being one shotted by the dragon's breath attack etc. Waiting on the cool downs isn't the most fun but assassin's Hidden Blades helps you in fights where you take damage from a direct melee attack on Red Templar Horrors and the like. At level 12 there's not a lot of ability points to spend so you take what you can and live with the limitations.

Anyone beat the game at lower than level 12? That seems to be the lower bound. All the speedruns, even Casual, seem to start the final battle with Coryfish at level 12.

It'd be tough to get too much lower. Most of my levels came from the main quest line itself. I avoided codexes when I could and bypassed a lot of main quest enemies via stealth. I finished a few quests to get agents to get me to the perks I wanted;  Dennet, Lord Berand, and The Blades for instance. The other main source of experience outside the main quest line came from The Fire Captured quest line in the Forbidden Oasis which I took for runes, rune mats, resistance, the tier 3 chest in the second area (which I farmed for schematics prior to the Golden Nug of patch 9), and the Superb belt of Fire Resistance (2175 gold) which I farmed for cash to buy goodies at the Black Emporium. Skip those extra sources of experience and it might be possible to get to the endgame at level 11.

It just occurred to me, with the Trial that gives half XP, it is probably now possible to beat the game at lower than level 12 on Casual.

I hadn't heard of that trial PapaCharlie. So my low level run that I sweated blood and tears to accomplish is obsolete on arrival? (Sigh) Such is the life of a gamer...

Xp per level isn't linear, so I'd guess half xp might enable you to reach him at level 8 or 9?

He's level 18, so at level 12 he gets a 3x.25 = 75% damage bonus against you. At level 8 that would be 7x.25 = 175%, I.e. almost triple damage. Ouch.

Could be fun to try as it's just 6 hours. Not much time for farming mats for your gear so that's a whole different set of challenges as well. Good point on that damage multiplier as well Rynas. Thanks.

You could turn it on and off and split the difference. Like if you always level up uselessly in the middle of WEWH, you can turn it on just before starting, then turn it off after.

The ability to turn it on and off could enable min/maxing exactly when you earn each skill point.

I've not looked into the 1/2 experience trial at all PapaCharlie and so your suggestion isn't really very clear to me. Are you saying you can turn the 1/2 experience function on and off while using the same Inquisitor? That seems unlikely so I'm probably not following you at all.

In any case I've added the Knight-Captain Denam fight at the last Trebuchet to my YouTube channel. Level 7 when I hit that.

Nightmare solo at level 11 of the Samson boss fight at the end of the "What Pride Hath Wrought main quest.

That's exactly what I'm saying -- though full disclosure, I've never used any Trial personally. This is based just on what I've read in other posts. There are achievements where you have to have a Trial on from the very beginning of the game, but for the purpose of beating the game below level 12, that shouldn't matter. It's just like changing the Difficulty setting mid-game.

The Trial is called "Take It Slow", btw. Tresspasser DLC required.

I've used multiple trials, turned them on/off even mid-fight and they seem to work properly.

Ahhh... I haven't picked up Trespasser yet so that might be why I've not seen that function. On my "To Do" list then. (The relevant info is found here... http://forum.bioware...grade-toggles/)

The basic Game plan that worked for me in this non DLC run is to gear up before you begin questing in earnest. As a dual wield rogue you can pick up Flank Attack with its upgrade, Skirmisher, and that allows you to enter a sustained stealth mode. I’m a big fan of Grenades and so I got and upgraded Jar of Bees early. Collect enough shards in the Hinterlands, Storm Coast, and Forbidden Oasis to get into the last room in one of the elemental paths of Solasan Temple. I picked fire because it has a tier three chest you can farm for tier 3 armor schematics; if you don’t want to use the Golden Nug. (Farming: if you leave one item in a container new contents will regenerate when you zone back in) The last room will contain a belt worth 2175 gold which respawns each time you farm it. Use the money from multiple visits to get cash to buy high level gear and schematics from the Black Emporium. You also farm bags in the Forbidden Oasis and Fallow Mire for tier two materials to craft your armor and weapons.
