I imagine that the bulk of the community will agree that it is rude to have extensive, unannounced AFKs in the middle of a PUG.  Personally I don't have an issue if someone needs to run AFK for just a couple of minutes then returns, or generally even if they ask before taking a much longer break.  If you're grouped with strangers & need to step away for an extended break, however, it is common courtesy to drop out of the group to make room for someone who will actually be playing.

Leeching like this is unfortunately common on PC but luckily it is usually not difficult to get the other players to kick the offender.  I'll second the mention about how annoying it is when you start a solo match then have a single AFKer decide to join in and leech.  You should really be able to solo kick someone if you are the host.  I suppose that would be too open for abuse for BioWare's taste though.

Or, you know...

Bioware could be smart and force you to tie your control sticks together with a rubber band, or be kicked for not moving.

Intelligent programming + DAMP = divide by zero

This would kick me from all my solo games, cause I tend to chat with friends in the chat window and may then just stand 5-10 minutes in the font room, doing nothing. I don't do that in pugs (except if I'm dead and in the Fade) but what's with those who join a Lobby and when they get inside get stuck in an object and can't get out until someone opens the door to the next room? (I had this happen once in Tevinter Ruins, so not fun if you want to fight but can't get out of the wall)

I get that you want to punish those people who just stand by and do nothing, but implenting a programm to kick everyone who doesn't move, doesn't only kick those who deserve it, but also others who do not.

Also micing up and telling what's up is not always an option, if they don't have a mic for example and not everyone understands/speaks english.

At least when they are too busy spamming F4 to actually play.

Wow, a lot of anti-smokers here.  I don't smoke, but I do recognize that for some, it's a necessity of their life - same as needing to go to the bathroom (i.e., it's not really an option).

I honestly do not realise what the problem is with that. I have my tobacco, dope, and ashtray on the left hand side of my key board, my glass and bottle of wine on the right hand side of my key board. If I need to pee, I run to the toilet at the end of a zone 5 while the "credits" are rolling (still have time to wash my hands).

I'm more fed up with the dysfunctional matchmaking system that incentivizes this kind of behaviour while preventing me from joining a match 95 percent of the time. The tagline for this game should be "You've lost your connection to the session".

At least ME3 had the foresight to kick inactive players.

Well if it weren't for the fact EVERYONE needs to be in the friggin circle before you can plant the inquisition flag at zone 5. I woldn't even bother kicken them, not worth the time and trouble . Though it will be the last round for me with that group then.

And what about those times when PUGs kicking the host because he's doing a speedrun game and they want to open treasure rooms?
Had an unpleasant situations like that
And another when I was lvl 1 on peri sure I know I wasn't much of a help but at least I was playing, not dying and smashing all pots but was kicked nevertheless at the 4th wave
This is also ridiculous!

Mm, you guys do know that sometimes idle players are actually still just loading in, or have the infinite loading bug.

(though if I get the bug, I close the game after a couple mins so they can have room to find someone else)

And keep your level 1 out of nightmare pugs, I don't care how many promotions you have, you're not that good.

I think that's a fair request for the vast majority of players (myself included), but I have actually had a couple of people who could legitimately contribute as a level one hop into my PUG.  I recall a game where Mayconpato contributed quite nicely on a level 1 archer once.  Personally I wouldn't have much fun playing NM at 1, but if someone with crazy promotions wants to do it then I don't see the harm.
