I just finished watching BSG (I know, 'cause I'm so 5 years ago), and couldn't help but noticing some striking similarities between the ending of Battlestar Galactica and ME2.

Battlestar Galactica -  Ending ship was on the accretian disk of a black hole with one way to get in or out.

ME2 -  Was in the middle of the galaxy on an accretian disk, while they didn't specifically state how many ways there were to get there it was thought that there was only one way to get into or out of the system, through the Omega 4 relay.

Battlestar Galactica -  Ended up launching a suicide mission

ME2 - Ended up launching a suicide mission

Battlestar Galactica -  Had help from the cylons who initiated their own civil war  --  Note : Anders helped to confuse their hybrids.

ME2 -  Had help from Legion who was involved in a civil war  --  Note :  Always sent Legion as a tech specialist

Battlestar Galactica -  Starbuck and Apollo led a team through to find Hera.

ME2 -  Commander Shepard led a team through to blow up the station

I mean, I just find it very...    Compelling that this game (specifically, not talking about ME3) and BSG ended up the same way.

I think some this is reaching, honestly -- leading a team is leading a team, it's not exactly a revolutionary concept in any order -- but yeah, it has been cited as an inspirational series in the minds of at least a couple of the writers. There are some obvious nods -- the way in which the Morning War is described, pretty much to a tee. Really the entire geth/quarian shindig is very reminiscent, and I can see the accretian disc can be a reference.
