Anyone else think it's funny that Varric gave you a title that technically outranks his in the feudal order? (Duke>Marquis>Count>Viscount>Baron)

I totally forgot, what title does he give you?

You know Cullen and Alistair are there every night dancing awkwardly. While Dorian is backing his ass up.

Dancing... together? :P Anyway, my Shepard will totally join them for awkward dancing times.

I was not thinking of them dancing together, but I am now. I would gladly be the jelly to that sandwich. **** you can add in Dorian as the peanut butter I'm set.

I thought for sure we'd get the full story on Skyhold. Instead, nothing. Strange. Solas leads you to it, and it has an ominous name in the elven language ("the place where the sky is held back"). And according to Morrigan, it's basically built upon an elven burial ground (similar to the 'native american burial ground' trope).

Perhaps the Inquisitor and Solas completely forgot about Skyhold when they meet for the final time.

No, in some dialogues (at least the romanced/friendly ones) they talk about Skyhold.  It's implied that Solas gave it to the Inquisition.

Maybe Skyhold is like a building version of Cole, and Solas activated its "forget me" powers at the end of Trespasser and everyone was on their way back home, got all confused, and ended up back in Haven like, "Where did we go after we lost this place? Oh well, whip out the snowblowers."

My inquisitor's keeping it.

Too much work and money was put into getting the place decent just to hand it over. They've already disbanded/weakened the Inquisition, there should be no complaints about keeping Skyhold.

If there are any? Screw em.

It would be a sight

And that he created the veil there.

I kept thinking about the notes you find on scaffolding when Skyhold is being repaired. More than one questions investing heavily in Skyhold's restoration and both has responses that defends it.

"Two words: the Inquisitor. Invest and commit. We are as strong as the will of the weakest of us" (Cassandra)

"Do it right. The Inquisition is only temporary if we fail. And we're not failing the Inquisitor." (Quartermaster Morris)

Add to that the response to Morrigan about how the Inquisitor has "made it mine." Solas may have led us there but it's mine now!

All my Quizzys love Skyhold. For me, Skyhold i a bit like the Normandy. I got attached to it. I don't want to see it fallen into ruins again.

For my Quizzys who keep the Inquisition going, staying in Skyhold is a no-brainer. I have to find a good head canon for my other Inquisitors though. Perhaps they stay to find out more about its past and its connection to Solas.

Skyhold is where my Inky has retired to. The hell with those ungrateful wretches in Orlais and Ferelden.

Skyhold is now a nightclub.

I can see my Lavellan and Sera running the place, with a big "Inky's" sign above the entry and bull as the doorman :)

"You use it well", "You used it well", or "Use it well"? Sorry, I just want to make sure since I think "use" is an odd choice of word. On a sidenote, for some reason my brain doesn't think "use" looks like a real word anymore  :P

Past tense. You "used" it well. I missed a "d".

Sure, I'm keeping Skyhold as my estate and keeping what I earned/all the memories I built there and all the efforts people made to repair and build it. You decide if you want the mage tower or the templar one. If you want the training grounds or the garden. Suddenly these choices who had no impact in the Dai plot at least make a tiny bit more sense.

But of course my Lavellan and Leliana wouldn't be that stupid as to set their new base there. Hence why when they need to discuss or make plans they go somewhere else where they think it's harder to find them cause no one would suspect it.. such as the remains of the Haven Church which is abandoned and half buried under the snow :P

I think it's kind of interesting that in the dream sequence with Solas after you first go to skyhold the conversation goes like this.

Inquisitor: Why here?

Solas: Haven is familiar, it will always be important to you.

Wouldn't surprise me if that is where they decided to go to rebuild.

This is a good comparison. Cerberus may have give you the Normandy SR2 but that doesn't mean it's going to the scrap heap. Of course it helps that EDI is able to disable all the Cerberus fail safes (if only we could send Solas 7 zettabytes of explicit images through his spy network).

Skyhold is far from everything, hard to reach and probably expensive to keep. I can't see my Quizzy staying there after disbanding the Inquisition. Nobody will go there without an important political or trading business. So... I believe it's now home for ravens and spiders. I imagine my Lavellan travelling and sometimes meeting her allies in Haven to share informations and make plans secretly. But it's silly if it is really Haven, because Solas can have spies there...

So basically Solas used Inquisition to

(1) rectify his mistake of giving Cory the Orb

(2) activate ancient elven artifacts created by him

(3) banish a powerful demon 'Nightmare' (maybe more if you deal with Envy and Imshael) who could have spoiled his Fade plans

(4) gain more agents (Arbor Wilds)

and

remodel his fortress/home ... :D

He used us to fix up the place for him. Boy, he really did outsmart everyone in the Inquisition. Solas by far the best villain in the DA series.

I think we can headcanon whatever we want but ultimately the Skyhold is no longer the full home of our Inquisitor and is no longer the full headquarters of the Inquistion as we knew it from Post-Skyhold until Trespasser.

We can imagine what we want, just as we could imagine much of the several year gap for the Warden-Commander, and couple year gap for Hawke (and gaps between the Acts in DA2).

In any case, the place won't be a big deal for now. This doesn't mean its done forever.  Like I gave the example of its use in a Dragon Age MMO. Or it could be revisited in a future SP game.

The gist is that we've only seen the top layer and a big of the layer under it. For all we know, there's even more to Skyhold and it'll be uncovered and important later.

I wish that wasn't the case but eh.

I'm still there along with my shadow army under rule of the Chantry/ Divine Cassandra who also formed the Inquisition...

Kind of funny that I was able to manipulate everyone at that council to buy into that. All I had to do was agree to send a couple of troops home. Good times!

But seriously I see a lot of people saying there's no Skyhold but there's no proof in game of that.

The Inquisitor left so it should be destroyed? Thats some... logic...

With fortresses it's quite logical really. Having unoccupied fortresses hanging about is bad, because some random bastards can just grab it and cause problems. We see this in the game, what with who we're taking those fortresses from.

I mean, if Skyhold can be agreed to be part of Fereldan or Orlais then one of those nations might want to claim it, but if it's not to be garrisoned then destroying it is logical. If not necessarily easy, castles are pretty hard work to destroy.
