Trespasser spoilers!
Or did he explain it and I missed it? It's certainly possible. I finished the DLC at 3am, so I wasn't at my best at that point.

He send some of his agents to leak informations to the Venatori so they went looking for the orb.
He didn't give much more details.
But I assume Solas was looking for powerful artifact sto regain his power and destroy the veil and enter the fade , and Corypheus was also looking for the same thing.
So their agents probably crossed path at one point.
Their agents probably bumped into eachother.
He has agents everywhere. It's likely he heard of Corypheus and thought "that'll work" so manipulates him.
Solas never met with Corypheus eye to eye; instead he let his network of spies/agents manipulate events/ information to lead Corypheus to where the Orb was located and how to unlock it.
And just how did Solas manage to have agents in the first place? Wasn't he asleep for millenia?

Yes but he is a dreamer and was awake for a year before the Inquisition

He had agents like Felassan who reported to him in the fade.
Alright, I don't think we're ever given enough info to determine that his agents had anything to do with Corypheus, but assuming they did, how did they know about him?
I mean, most Wardens didn't know about Corypheus and he had been their prisoner for centuries. Saying that his administrative assistant had the contact info doesn't make it sound any more plausible.
It's very plausible Solas heard of the Elder One in Tevinter via agents. We already know he was exploring elven ruins, had contacts with strong demons and that three magisters where allied with him.

Old elven ruins probably.
The orb was elven and during the whole DAI campain Cory was sending agents in elven ruins.
Also Cory came from a time before the first Blight , so he probably had way more knowledge about the ancient elves than anyone besides well the remaining ancient elves.
Solas agents probably reported some strange group of humans were in those ruins serving an Elder One.Solas being a dreamer and having access to the fade and spirits could have informations easily once he knew who to target.

This^^^
He let the Venatori pick it up. I mean, it was a twofer. Horribly evil monster nukes themselves with Ancient Elven magic, AND he gets his Foci unlocked so that he can restore the Elves. Like he said, he just didn't factor in that Corypheus had figured out how to bodysurf his way to immortality. Remember, he doesn't consider himself a monster...he wants HIS...um...transition...to be as quick and as painless as possible. It probably WON'T be, but he hopes it will.
It's very plausible Solas heard of the Elder One in Tevinter via agents. We already know he was exploring elven ruins, had contacts with strong demons and that three magisters where allied with him.
I must be forgetting the third magister. Erimond, Alexius, and...?

I figure that since everything else Hawke did was basically legendary and broadcast to all who would listen, the fight against Corypheus was another story that was spread throughout the world.

Erasthenes who was an ally for awhile, till he became a test subject and his slave, Calpernia (who is the only reason why Coryfish was interested in Erasthene in the first place) became the leader of the Venatori.

Ah, right, thanks. It's been a while since I've done the Templar route ![]()
