Dragon Age Inquisition had a blanket party and was beaten senseless, tactless, unrecognizable, and brainless by giant "PC sticks". The game never took place in the Dragon Age universe, period.

Discuss.

It took me a while to understand what the hell he meant by PC stick.

Anyways, it's wrong, but it's pointless to argue with that kind of mentality.

I had to reference the real and physical anti-gay bullying and assault  done through IRL blanket parties but he had to complain about his feels because DAI is too friendly to gays and doesn't let you actively disapprove.

But you're right. I think I just reached some soft limit and wanted to vent.

I would note that the game has never been unfriendly towards gays. The one time I've heard someone make a derogatory comment about a potentially same-sex relationship was with the viscount's son and his qunari friend, and that was more rooted in hatred of the qunari as a race. Racism is big in Thedas, but homophobia? Eh.

Well being gay is not a big deal in the south. Now the north? Tevinter well... they kinda frown on it because they want their mages popping out more mage babies if I recall but they are not really "against" it per say.

Since most mages in tevinter are essentially nobles majority of them want to carry on their "Legacy" and said child being gay can't really carry on their legacy hence the whole problem Dorian had with his dad.

Hence why they they look down upon it I recall they don't really care if you are doing it with your favorite slave or something but your kids MUST be making children since all the families want more recognition and power and hope their children become magisters or even Archon etc.

At first I thought it was a reference to the whole PC masterrace thing, and then I realized that it was even more inane than that.

Dorian could have been as gay as he wanted so long as he kept it out of the public eye and sired a mageling or two. That he refused to do so was the problem.

Well yes hence why tevinter largely have problems with their kids being gay, since they won't make more children since they are only interested in the same sex hence why being gay is actually frowned upon in tevinter hence why they view it as a "problem" in the family and hide it if they can.

Since they want to produce the strongest mages and all the famlies in tevinter want their family name on the seat of power. I mean if your child became a magister or even Archon and they were gay you were screwed because when they die your family and legacy will lose power because there is no one there to replace them.

If you are totally fine with being with the opposite sex and making children you are not really gay in my opinion.

edit:I am going to hop out of this discussion I don't see it going anywhere good.

There's not enough trolling going on that originates here, you had to import some from Steam, of all places?

Big surprise, DAI isn't as popular as BSN would like to make it out to be.

Trolling does take place on the BSN, like everywhere on the internet, but I think people are too liberal with that term.

I think it's perfectly fair and valid to criticize DA:I or any Bioware title for that matter, as long as one is doing so in a constructive manner, and he or she supports their points with evidence from the game.

Also, trolling is technically when someone posts a comment on the internet solely to get a rise out of people or provoke a response. They don't necessarily believe what they are saying, or even care about the issue. I am sure that there are some people out there who actually feel that DA:I was pandering to certain audiences. I am not one of them, just saying.

Yes, an isolated negative comment from Steam renders all assertions of DAI's popularity completely moot. We should all be ashamed.

This part is true.

I had a problem  with that myself. I wanted to actively disapprove of Doran & Sara's lifestyle choice .

I don't really think it's a choice. But even so ... why?

That's... insane. Nobody in any of the DA games care, having the main character start approaching it aggressively wouldn't make sense in game.

It isn't any of my business . I still wanted to be free to express my opinion on it . Aside from that .

I adore Doran .  Sara ....not so much.

So you admit it's not your business, yet you still want to comment on it. That doesn't strike me as particularly logical, Tammie. I mean, if you were gay, would you expect the option to criticize people for being straight?

Have you ever in the history of this franchise been able to tell people off based on who they're sleeping with?

No. Tho I would like to be free to do so.

Sometimes I would like to fully role play an a-hole type of character . They came real close to doing so in Origins.

While I understand the broad sentiment, I also do not feel that the devs have to allow the player to hurl insults, mostly because of the potential pitfals.

I wanna insult gays!

I can insult gays, why can't I insult black people?

I can insult black people, why can't I insult midgets?

I can insult midgets, why can't I insult women? etc.

I do realize this is a bit of a slippery slope argument, but I don't think the way to have an a-hole character is to allow them to hurl gratuitous insults, especially regarding real-world issues. Actions speak far louder than words on that front if you ask me.

I'm also kinda puzzled at the ''hurr durr Inquisition is too PC'' comments given that Origins had people having sex in their undies while Inquisition has people be naked as they should be. What did Origins have that so was ''un-PC''?

What's funny is that the hatred of gays goes in cycles. I mean Ancient Rome and Greece were okay with gay relations. You didn't marry them, but you sure had lots of sex. If they were slaves no one gave a ****. Gay sex has been going since forever. People need to get over it.
