MGS V had better storyline and villain than DAI.

Kojima already stated the outfit was designed with cosplayers in mind (giggity), on top of him creating an in universe reason for such an outfit.

Catering to cosplayers isn't necessarily a bad thing. Gene Wolfe said that The Book of the New Sun stems, in part, from Severian's look. He wanted to have people at cons dressed up as something of his, came up with the look, and then had to work out what sort of character would look like that.

It would be confusing and nonsensical and the cinematic scenes would go on forever with little actual game play between

I do not really know if it's very wise to create nor say that you have created look like Quiets cosplayers in mind.

I can't critique this guy's work but that was just about the most terrible thing I've ever watched. As one who was considering getting into the series that was a good deterrent.

As far as writing in the VG industry, there's nothing I've seen that qualifies as good. Bioware writes some good characters and smaller arcs, but largely the stories are unoriginal, cliche, and often incoherent.

Wrote or directed? I wouldn't want either, but Kojima is a fantastic game director. All of his games play well with good level design and game balance. They are loaded with tons of small details that reward you for experimenting with the game's mechanics, and it's one of the few series that can balance alternate progression paths in levels well.

His writing vascillates between terrible, nonsensical, intense, and poignant, but more and more it's becoming obvious that his stories are primarily there to mess with the player's head and invite the player into the story as a sort of 4D participant. The timeline is largely junk at this point, in part because of this. But the meta and themes of the MGS series are worthwhile, especially games like MGS2 and V that extent beyond the face-value story.

Why not? The Clone Shepard in the Citadel DLC is basically Liquid Snake.

I didn't doubt that. I just wonder if that's right message to sent from developer.

Why is it a bad message? It appeals to a group of people within the industry.  BW made a big hoopla announcing how many NPCs the PC can screw in game. Do you think that was a bad message to send as well?

Well it can be taken in couple ways, as that he wants to see girls dressed up like that, that he thinks cosplayers dress up like that, that cosplayers want to dress up like that. In general, what makes that particular outfit appeal to cosplayers, why he thinks this particular outfit is perfect to cosplay?

Cosplayers are not part of the industry. Many of them, especially the ones who would cosplay as Quiet, are just uninhibited people who know that they can make money from pathetic neckbeards who are too scared to talk to women.
Cosplayers are a part of the video game industry in the same way air guitar is an instrument.

You might have to ask all the girls cosplaying the character and having fun.  And apparently he was right about Cosplayers wanting to dress like her, because they're doing it right now.  That pic I posted is one of many I've come across.

I don't get why it's a reflection on him as a person though.  If a writer writes a story and puts a Neo Nazi in it, does that make the writer a Nazi? If they write about rape, does that make them a rapist?

If we must now question the writer as a person based on the type of characters they've created for a certain group of people then that would make the writers of BW a bunch of weird sex crazed pervs with a thing for bestiality (Big horned men & Turians). Why do they think their fanbase is interested in the romances? Why do they think fans need to know how many genders are available for romance?

Could it be that BW knows their own fanbase just as Kojima knows his?

Oh okay, so now we're conveniently ignoring the fact that BW spent several months releasing specific info about who players get to romance in DAI.  Or you just don't know about that? If not, well they did.

I probably wouldn't enjoy the game at all, that's what would happen.

Yes, Bioware also includes fanservice and their stories are sometimes silly (especially as far as Mass Effect is concerned) but it seems they at least make some effort to keep things sensible and consistent, save for ME3's **** ending.

Kojima is, in my opinion, highly overrated. His games usually have good cinematics and some great character designs (along with a bevy of not so great ones). Beyond that, MGS has nothing going for it if you ask me. The writing is mostly rubbish, the continuity is pretty much non-existent, and nothing really makes much sense. It's a bunch of ''cool'' concepts thrown together because then they become ''cooler'' with absolutely no regard at to how good an idea it actually is.

The only Metal Gear game I actually enjoyed was Revengeance, because the gameplay was good (of course, it's Platinum Games) and the story didn't even try to take itself seriously. It was an incredibly silly romp from beginning to end and all the more enjoyable for it.

And everything about Quiet is just laughably bad, apart from the pure gameplay perspective which is quite well executed. The outfit looks stupid, the ''explanation'' is a ridiculously contrived excuse that makes it worse, and that game doesn't have a scene where the camera fails to oogle her assets, in a way that makes the famous Miranda ass shot look like something filmed by a puritan grandma. The rain scene in particular is just... bleh. It's more awkward than sexy. I've seen porn that was more subtle than this.

I'd truly have had more respect for Kojima if he straight up said ''yes, she's here because she's hot and I know my target demographic likes ******, deal with it''. Instead of hiding behind a patently absurd explanation.

The outfit in general seems relative easy to make, but the problem with revealing outfits is that cosplayes often have to tone them down, which you can see bit in picture you posted, person didn't wore see-through leggings so you can see the thong Quiet wears and her boobs are more covered, since under-boob thing Quiet has going on would be hard to done without revealing your nipples by accident from time to time. The hair is not easiest as well, since it can't be easily done with wig, you need to use your own hair so you need to color it to certain color and cut in certain length.

I guess Kojima could know that Quiet is exactly the kind of character fans of his games like to cosplay, but then designing outfit exactly like that cosplayers in mind seems bit odd to me, since there is quite different directions he could have gone with cosplayers.

This is legitimately one of the dumbest things I've seen on the BSN in a long time.
If a writer included an unapologetic Neo-Nazi character in his novel and said the take away from his character should be that he's not a hateful person and is actually a pretty cool guy, you would absolutely suspect that the writer is of questionable morals. Making a character that is a mostly-nude sex object who doesn't speak and having the gull to say "she's not supposed to be erotic, she's just who she is" shows that Kojima is of questionable maturity and likely never matured past the level of a teenager.

Most cosplay outfits won't be 100%, some will be as close as possible if they have the time and income but they do enjoy the challenge of making the costume. I've seen cosplayers try to pull off Goku hair it's never really perfect, but it's the joy of dressing up and pretending that's fun.

No, they didn't. They spent several months doing character profiles with writer interviews and they happened to mention a romance or not. Then they released a forum post detailing everything. The end!

Actually I wouldn't. It's called learning the difference between real and fiction.  I love vampire novels where they're the main characters and kill without remorse. I suppose I should go call the police on the author.

Yes, how dare any dev showcase the content of their work that appeals to a group within their fan base. Oh the Horror! :o

Maybe they had the date auctions in mind? More skin more bids? Though last one I heard about an Invisible girl cosplayer get the most bids than anyone else.

Great cinematography, great dialogue, well written themes, great focus on gameplay...some of the few things Kojima San would have given this franchise, but he needs about 5 plus years to actually complete the game and without publisher meddling.

MGS has great dialogue? It's the rambling of a madman's crazy consipary theories and that is insanely boring. The writing for some of the characters in ME1 was basically a large exposition dump but it's better than anything in MGS a game series that is VERY over-rated has stopped being good since the boring ass second one.

BW focused on announcing LIs and held off on announcing the last two for anticipation purposes.  It was Gaider who didn't want to focus on romance announcements.

"Despite his objection to the public reveals of the game’s love interests, Gaider reassured gamers that they should expect to learn the identity of the other romances soon since the process of announcing each love interest has already started."

http://www.examiner....ce-the-romances

Yeah, BW totally wasn't focused on the romances at all.

Note: I don't think it was a bad thing they announced the LIs. They did what any company would do. Revealed content that pleased their fan base.
