Are you being willfully obtuse or are you legitimately not able to understand what I've written?

I do understand, it's just stupid and I'm treating it as such.

BW focused on announcing LIs and held off on announcing the last two for anticipation purposes.  It was Gaider who didn't want to focus on romance announcements.

"Despite his objection to the public reveals of the game’s love interests, Gaider reassured gamers that they should expect to learn the identity of the other romances soon since the process of announcing each love interest has already started."

http://www.examiner....ce-the-romances

Yeah, BW totally wasn't focused on the romances at all.

Note: I don't think it was a bad thing they announced the LIs. They did what any company would do. Revealed content that pleased their fan base.

Where did they focus on announcing LIs? They made one forum post announcing them all. Every other LI reveal was just a part of the character profiles they were doing.

Well I'll tell ya what, Mass Effect games could certainly take a page from Metal Gear Solid boss fights. There's plenty of potential for fantastic villains and boss fights in Mass Effect. Bioware just doesn't seem good at doing it.

Umm now I read into it, Kojima wanted to make these characters erotic so that people would want to cosplay them.. I do not really think that's how cosplaying and character design is going to work.

Oh god the more I hear about this man the more of pervert he seems like.

I do know of that and it's not really what I'm talking about.. I'm just bit confused about what in the particular character and costume is something that really would appeal to cosplayers  and why would Kojima make statement like that.

Idk. you really have to find those cosplayers and ask them yourself.  As for Kojima, he made a statement that was obviously true.  I think you may just be over thinking it.

I'm pretty much taking it as it appears. He posted picture of Quiet's butt in the twitter and pretty much dared people to cosplay her. So there is no, this is great character with cool outfit that girls want to cosplay.. no he practically made character as erotic as possible to cosplayers to cosplay and pretty much what he wants is sexy cosplays of his characters.

I can't ever imagine Bioware devs doing that.. posting picture of Miranda's or someone's butt and daring people to cosplay character based on that.

Oh god, this thing keeps getting worse and worse the more I find about it.

Given that there a ton of different reasons to cosplay something pin pointing why someone would want to dress up as a character is no easy feat. Maybe it was the easier for them to do this cosplay, maybe they like the character, maybe they like the design, maybe they're hoping for more photo opportunities and think that outfit will let it happen, maybe they're really into the game and wanted to use the cosplay as a conversation starter?

Then again I know zip about this game of this dev so eh.

I do know that some cosplay characters in revealing clothing and like it, but for developer to make game costumes erotic for cosplayers in mind and then post butt pictures of his characters with dares to people cosplay them does not sound right to me. I mean he pretty much says with that that cosplay=dressing up in sexy clothing, which isn't true and he pretty much seems like pervert who wants to see girls in revealing cosplays with that attitude.

Also I do not want to even begin on what does that say about his love and artistic vision towards his own characters..

LOL!! It's funny how you keep trying to find fault with him while ignoring all the girls who took him up on his offer.  What you saw on his Twitter was an exchange between him and his fans and they responded...by Cosplaying her. Not getting what the big deal is except that it's just not for you.

And yet BW flashed Miranda's butt every chance they got in ME2 & 3.

And here we go

Spoiler

So is it Kojima's blatant honesty that's the problem?

No you are not getting the point at all.

He is wrong about what cosplay is. He claims to make clothing erotic to encourage cosplay, but that's not what encourages cosplay. Cosplaying is not dressing up in sexy clothing.

Then he treats his own character like this, pretty much sells them with only their sexiness like there is nothing worthwhile in them. He doesn't even try to say that Quiet is this cool character that people want to cosplay, no, he dares people to cosplay her by putting up her ass pictures.

This is not about honesty. This is what is he's saying with that honesty of his. He's claiming that cosplay=dressing up in sexy clothing with is wrong, he sells his own characters short like this so practically that makes his characters look like sex objects with no dept, nothing worthwhile and

I simply can't believe his man. Oh my god.

So my takeaway is that you're unable to identify pandering when you're the specific audience they're pandering to. Which is not so surprising, I guess.

This. I find it hilarious how some "whine" about BW "pandering to SJW's or some sh!t" yet completely miss the fact that the game they oh so praise is also full of pandering. :D

All in all, all games do pander. Bioware just panders to all groups, not just only straight men. That's why i'd prefer their pandering over games like MGS or GTA, anyday everyday.

People only complain about pandering when it's not pandering towards them... when it's pandering towards them it's normal and how things should be, videogames are for escapism, demographics and target audience, artistic integrity bla-bla-bla.

This is some real high-brow art right here. Clearly an artist expressing his deepest emotions in the way a business like BioWare wouldn't understand. All BioWare understands is fanservice, and appealing to the lowest common denominator.

WTF was that?

I get that all games have some fanservice but damn that was horrible.

I was thinking of maybe checking a MGS game, but not touching that in hell. Thank you for showing me the light

It's true. If they happen to share Bioware's particular vision, then how dare we force them to compromise their art?! If they don't, how dare they pander to these fringe special interest groups (read: the pluralities of their fanbase, both actual and potential)?!

I believe in equal opportunity fan service, personally. I always enjoy the fact that SWTOR has bikini armor that's cut the same way for male and female toons.

The outfit in general seems relative easy to make, but the problem with revealing outfits is that cosplayes often have to tone them down, which you can see bit in picture you posted, person didn't wore see-through leggings so you can see the thong Quiet wears and her boobs are more covered, since under-boob thing Quiet has going on would be hard to done without revealing your nipples by accident from time to time. The hair is not easiest as well, since it can't be easily done with wig, you need to use your own hair so you need to color it to certain color and cut in certain length.

Adhesives would help with the underboob thing. And yeah, the look's a little more challenging than it appears at first glance, but it's still doable if you've got the body confidence to pull it off.

Yes it looks like something that is very much possible to do, however I was arguing about the underboob in sense of developers usually making costumes bit too sexy and erotic for regular cosplayer to cosplay so cosplayer often do bit more "secure" and covering version of the outfit. In that sense Quiet's costume is not perfect for cosplay, it's something that many cosplayers would tone down with more secure bra part and more covering leggings or maybe short bottom (I saw some Quiet cosplays like this). So I wouldn't say the costume is designed in cosplayers point of view.

I like equality in fanservice and fanservice being something that feels coherent in the universe and context of the game.

Cosplay is about whatever the individual wants it to be. How can you say that not a single cosplayer ever thought about looking sexy in their costumes? I'm sure some have.

Also, my point is that BW did the same thing but were simply less vocal about it. Sure Cosplaying may not have been their goal. But they did flash Miranda's booty all over ME 2 & 3 and cosplayers still cosplayed her.  For whatever reason each individual decided to do it.  Overall, those butt shots appealed to people along with the outfit itself. They may not even be a part of the same section of the fanbase but the character Quiet appealed to them for whatever reason.

The difference between BW and Kojima and the handling of these particular female characters is that one said "Hey look at this a$$" The other just quietly directed their camera to the a$$. lol!!

Cosplay is just so much more than that.

I don't remember saying that I liked Miranda's buttshots or think Bioware is being good example in the industry with them. However I believe they do have more decency and love to their characters that they don't assume people cosplay Miranda, because her butt. And I do like Miranda's outfit.

It proves that developers do so revealing and erotic outfits for characters that many people do not feel comfortable replicating them. The outfits are too revealing IRL and that should say something about the designs.

Covering up the designs is just something you see regularly with cosplays of female character, it's pretty normal in cosplay circles. And if you don't well there has been nipples showing and other malfunctions, some of the costumes are just hard to wear without making adjustments.

I agree. I think people cosplay for so many different reasons that it's really up to the individual.

I also like Miranda's outfit...well the black one. If I had her confidence I'd wear it.

Gaider is a MUCH better writer than Kojima every was, is, or every will be,

Better writer in terms of what exactly? Like side characters, villains, overarching narrative, dialogue, politics?

After replaying the older MG games like MGS2 i'm not so sure about this.

As a writer Kojima is Tommy Wiseau level.

Literally everyone is a better writer than Hideo Kojima. He gets by on it solely because the standards for quality writing in the video game industry are abysmally low.
