Since the Weakness & Shock bug has not been fixed at all by Bioware, and they probably won't ever fix it since it appears to be a complex bug...

So is there any spell from the Storm tree that a Rift Mage can use apart from Energy Barrage ?

Now you might be asking why do I want to use a Shock spell. Well, I like to roleplay Rift Mages as well rounded and accomplished mages. The other Rift Mage on the team is a freaking demigod who can petrify people with pure thought. To say that someone like him does not know how to command lightning is just laughable. So that's why I like to a spell for every element when it comes to Rift Mages.

Yeah the reason is petty and sentimental but its a game.

Anyway, are there any spells from the Storm Tree that a Rift Mage can use without triggering the Shock & Weakness bug, with the exception of Barrage ?

Thanks and have a nice day.

Truth be told rarely are you forced into a specific school of damage.  Normally if you pick 2, you will cover most bases.  That being said I have seen some ugly nasty enemies in the DLC areas that are immune to 2 schools of magic.

What I'm saying is Fire & Ice is normally enough.

You could try Lightning Bolt.  I believe the discharge from detonation will cause shock, but the initial spell does not.

Really what I feel is the sad panda of this story is the loss of Static Cage.  You can do so much damage with it, and you lose all that mana regen.

Tis the price you pay for the awesomeness of Stonefist and PotA.

I have played with Lightning Bolt on the Keeper and the Elementalist in DAMP. Its decent on the Keeper. How does Lightning Bolt work in SP ? Is it the same or is it different ?

I'm not sure how Lightning Bolt works in MP.  I know the initial spell does not cause shock though. If you detonate the paralysis, it will cause shock.  So it sort of depends.  But you have the viable option of a lightning spell if you so choose.

I still avoid it and just stick with Fire and Ice.  Now that Winter's Grasp can do 1000% weapon damage I don't feel the loss of lightning so much anymore.
